Chapter 171: Injection of serum

Views:

Amid the piercing sound of a gas turbine, a Type 16 mobile combat vehicle belonging to the Self-Defense Force was driving along the river. Several fully armed Self-Defense Force soldiers were sitting on the vehicle, vigilantly monitoring the calm river surface. In the distance, several low-flying helicopters were dropping sonars into the river.

These Self-Defense Forces were assigned to this section of the river, searching for Norman Osborn and Winston Johnson who had escaped into the river. The fixed underwater sonar arrays and attack submarines in Tokyo Bay did not detect Godzilla's voiceprint characteristics, and the seismic monitors did not detect the unique shock waves when Godzilla drilled into the ground. They should still be stranded in the river.

The Japanese side could not tolerate these two extremely dangerous creatures stranded in the downtown area of Tokyo. The battle between Godzilla and Titan almost caused the Prime Minister's approval rating to plummet to the bottom in an instant.

Those evacuated citizens could not stay outside for a long time.

The Titan's huge body was half-kneeling on the campus of Tokyo University, still as tall as a mountain, with tiny flames still remaining on the body, still burning tenaciously. Three fire trucks were using high-pressure water guns to put out the flames.

Water vapor was rising with a harsh sizzling sound.

The colloid spewed out by Winston Johnson was unexpectedly stubborn and difficult to deal with. Even in the face of the spray of water vapor, it still burned tenaciously. Before the flames were extinguished, it was impossible to repair the Titan.

Steve Rogers was sitting on a lawn not far away. The previous battle between Titan and Norman Osborn destroyed most of the nearby facilities and semi-permanently changed the terrain. Only this lawn had survived by chance.

Driving the Titan put a huge strain on his nervous system. Even now, his hands were still shaking slightly, and he couldn't even unscrew the cap of the mineral water bottle in his hand.

Tony Stark walked over to him, took the water bottle, unscrewed it and gave it back to him.

"It was my mistake. They got away."

Steve felt a little guilty. SHIELD had invested a lot of resources in this operation, and mobilized a large number of troops, just to completely kill Norman Osborn and Winston Johnson, two unstable factors. The failure of the operation would put Nick Fury under tremendous pressure.

And with their horrific destructive power, there will be more victims.

Tony Stark coughed laboriously several times. When he was chasing the two men who escaped from the river, he chased too closely and was taken advantage of by the recovered Norman Osborn, who took the opportunity to hit him hard with his longtail. Even after being cushioned by the MK2, he still broke a rib.

"This is not entirely your fault. Without situational awareness, the Titans have lost most of their combat effectiveness. We still have a chance. They are now trapped in a nearby water vein and cannot escape the search."

Tony Stark did not take Winston Johnson's abilities into consideration when he designed Titan.

Tony Stark looked up at Titan. He found that he had underestimated Godzilla's defensive ability. The chain sword, which was most suitable for use under normal circumstances, could not cause any damage to it. The same was true for the plasma pulse cannon. The power output was insufficient in an instant, so it could only suppress it, but could not win with one strike.

... ...

... ...

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Broly took Professor Connors into Wade's ward. It had not been long since the last gas transfusion, and even though Wade had just undergone a major operation, his complexion was still very good, and the incision from the operation had healed well.

However, the carcinoembryonic antigen index in his body was rising almost every day, and the cancer cells were dividing and multiplying in his body at a rate far exceeding that of ordinary patients.

Vanessa looked at Professor Connors with a puzzled look.

Because Professor Connors' identity is still somewhat shady, he wears a hood, with most of his face hidden in the shadow of the hood.

"Wade, I brought a serum that may be able to cure your cancer, but there is a small chance that this serum will turn you into a monster. It is up to you to decide whether you need the injection."

Broly gave the choice to Wade.

Wade chose the injection without hesitation. He had seen the CT scans not long ago, and the tumor had reappeared in his abdominal cavity. Now he was like a drowning man who was about to drown in the water. He would grab a straw tightly in his hand.

What's more, there is only a small probability of turning into a monster. Even if there is a high probability of turning into a monster, he is willing to take a chance.

Professor Connors shrugged, opened the refrigerator at hand, took out the serum inside, lifted up Wade's hospital gown, and injected it directly into the chest cavity.

Wade's tumor is concentrated in the chest cavity. Injection from the chest cavity can allow the anti-cancer genes in the serum to embed into the cells around the cancer cells more quickly.

"how do you feel?"

Vanessa twisted her hands together nervously. As Wade's condition fluctuated, her heart was tormented during this period of time.

"Hmm... I don't feel anything... just a little cold..."

Wade carefully felt the changes in his body and smacked his lips.

"Not so fast. It takes about ten minutes for the anti-cancer genes in the serum to be embedded in your cells. It takes even longer for these genes to start expressing and producing proteins."

Professor Connors said as he pulled up a chair and sat next to Wade.

Wade can be said to be the first clinical experimental subject of the serum, and he is ready for long-term observation.

Broly was vigilantly sensing the changes in Wade's aura. If Wade underwent any mutation under the influence of the serum, he could suppress it immediately.

After about half an hour, Wade, who had been very normal, suddenly screamed and covered his chest in pain.

"Wade! Wade! What's wrong with you? Don't scare me! Call a doctor quickly, get the doctor over here!"

Vanessa was at a loss and was about to press the call bell in the ward, but was stopped by Professor Connors.

Wade was gasping for breath violently, and he felt a tearing pain in his body, as if something was trying to burst out of his body. Even the strong-willed Wade rolled over in pain, veins bulging on his forehead, and cold sweat almost soaked the sheets.

His body temperature was rising rapidly and his face was as red as a boiled shrimp.

Professor Connors explained:

"This is the anti-cancer gene in his body destroying the cancer cells in his body."

The test subjects in the laboratory also showed similar symptoms, but none of them had such a violent reaction. Professor Connors judged that the cancer cells in Wade's body had become much more difficult to deal with than ordinary cancer cells after absorbing Broly's energy several times.
