Salvadensen, a marine ecologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, also said: "In front of killer whales, great white sharks will abandon their favorite hunting grounds and will not return within a year, even if the killer whale is just passing by."

The Greater Farallon National Marine Sanctuary has recorded four encounters between great white sharks and killer whales.

After observing and analyzing those four incidents, scientists and marine biologists found that the great white shark seemed to know that it was no match for the killer whale.

Not surprisingly, once killer whales show up, great white sharks will flee in just a few minutes, and will not return until at least the next season.

In fact, sometimes killer whales are just passing by, and their stay time may not exceed 10 minutes. In just these ten minutes, killer whales can "clear out" all the great white sharks in an entire sea area.

As a predator at the top of the food chain along with killer whales, it is really embarrassing for the great white shark to have fallen to this point.

However, a hero never suffers a loss in front of him. Perhaps it is precisely because of this self-knowledge and the shameless and life-oriented nature that allows the great white shark to still dominate the world today.

If all great white sharks were brave enough to fight killer whales head-on, I'm afraid the great white shark species would have become extinct long ago.

Among the entire great white shark population, only a very small number of them dare to confront killer whales head-on. Generally, they are either extremely hungry or have smelled blood, and under the stimulation of the blood, their brains go into a state of frenzy.

"After sensing the scent of killer whales, great white sharks will generally flee as far as they can. There is a killer whale active in the sea behind us. The reason these great white sharks didn't flee is either because they have smelled the blood and are in an excited and frenzied state, or because the blackhead sharks are now alone and are not emitting their own scent to announce to the surrounding marine life that this sea area is their territorial waters." Xiang Yang said.

“Wow!”

As Xiang Yang finished his words, a huge wave suddenly rose above the sea.

A sea fish over half a meter in size was bitten by a huge great white shark. Its body was torn into two by the great white shark's huge bite force, and a stream of red liquid quickly spread on the sea surface.

"It's actually a wolffish." Zhang Qicheng exclaimed.

Xiang Yang had also caught marine creatures such as wolffish before.

But this wolffish is not that wolffish.

This is a sea fish with an extremely ugly face and ferocious appearance. Its appearance can make anyone who sees it have no idea about it after seeing its appearance.

For animals, being ugly is an advantage to some extent. After all, it can deceive those who are unaware of the truth and make humans feel unappetizing when they see them for the first time.

Wolffish is a typical example of this type of ugly fish. Its appearance is just like an ugly Avatar. Most people would lose their appetite after seeing it, and it would be amazing if they didn't have nightmares at night.

According to biological classification, wolffish belongs to the class Actinopterygii, order Perciformes, suborder Blenniformes, family Lycopodidae, and genus Lycodon, and is a large predatory fish.

The length of an adult wolffish can easily exceed 1.2 meters, and more extreme individuals can even reach 3 meters in length.

Of course, this length is nothing compared to a great white shark.

But the wolffish’s strongest feature is not its size, but its sharp teeth.

In addition to its large size, the wolffish also has a disproportionately large bloody mouth with two rows of extremely sharp teeth inside.

The teeth of wolffish are even more exaggerated than those of sharks. They can easily break gold and bones with one bite.

For a gluttonous creature like wolffish, there is no food that they cannot chew, as long as their force is strong enough to handle it. They can eat all kinds of fish, shrimps, crabs, mollusks, gastropods, and even sea urchins and starfish.

Wolf fish is also called the devil fish.

With its unbridled sharp teeth, it has become one of the most adaptable marine creatures. Wolffish are active in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, coastal areas and even some freshwater areas. It can be said to be the devil with the largest territory among the ray-finned fish.

Wolffish are very ferocious fish. They will attack any creature within their sight. Their ferocity and viciousness are comparable to those of great white sharks.

Wolffish are not only cruel to other creatures, they also often fight to the death with their own fish, especially during the breeding season. Because the male-female ratio of wolffish is relatively unbalanced, males are under great pressure to find a mate, and if they want to get the right to mate, they need to defeat other competitors.

"It is said that marine creatures such as wolffish are relatively loyal to love. Once a male fish defeats other competitors and mates with a female fish, they will stay together for life. This is a very rare phenomenon among fish," Xiang Yang introduced.

In terms of reproductive capacity, wolffish is also one of the stronger fish. After mating, female wolffish can lay about 10,000 eggs at a time. And the hatching rate of wolffish eggs is very high, because before the young fish hatch, their parents will take on the responsibility of guarding them for a full four months. However, once the young fish hatch, they will have to rely on themselves to survive, whether it is avoiding danger or finding food.

At present, the overall survival and reproduction status of wolffish is relatively representative among marine organisms. Both the population and distribution range have maintained a relatively stable situation for many years. To this day, no country has listed it as a protected species. This is probably because of the protection brought to them by the wolffish's curious and terrifying appearance.

"Wolffish is considered a very ferocious fish. Unfortunately, its opponent this time was a great white shark. Its death was in vain." Li Chao sighed.

"That's not necessarily true." Xiang Yang shook his head and said, "Great white sharks are ferocious, but it's wrong to say that a wolf fish died in vain after being bitten to death by a great white shark. The wolf fish has been able to survive in the dangerous ocean not only because of its ugly appearance, but also because it is ferocious, aggressive, and smart. Look, this group of great white sharks bit a wolf fish to death, so a fierce battle is bound to follow."

Although wolffish do not enjoy the same world-renowned reputation and prestige as great white sharks, as they are also large marine predators, they are not necessarily inferior to great white sharks, because wolffish are also group marine creatures, and the number of members in their group far exceeds that of great white sharks.
