My Heart Beats For You

Chapter 7

The words "Shi Yi" were clearly written in the added note box. She really didn't see it wrong!

Fu Shitian was overjoyed, but she was afraid that she was just being disappointed, so she couldn't help but raise her hand and pinch her cheek hard - it hurt. She immediately trembled with her fingertips and solemnly clicked the "pass" option.

The phone had been used for too long, had little memory, and had severe delays. Fu Shitian clicked several times anxiously before he successfully jumped through the page.

After a few seconds, the phone vibrated again. Fu Shitian was overjoyed, thinking that Shi Yi had sent her something.

When she looked carefully, she saw that it was the system reminding her that she and Shi Yi had become friends, and the dialog box was blank.

Fu Shitian stared at the blank space without blinking, expecting that perhaps in the next second, or perhaps the next second, news from Shi Yi would come.

But many seconds passed and the dialog box remained quiet and blank.

Fu Shitian's bright eyes dimmed. She tapped the input box with her finger, and the keyboard popped out of the screen. Perhaps, she should take the initiative to greet Shi Yi and say something

But what can she say? She is almost an idiot when it comes to being the initiator of a relationship. First she would ask casual questions like "Are you still awake?", then "I ate the mooncakes, they were delicious." Then, if Shi Yi was interested in chatting, maybe they could continue chatting for a few more sentences

But if Shi Yi added her because he was interested in chatting, shouldn't he have taken the initiative to talk first? If he didn't talk first, could it be that he was just being polite after tonight's activities? Besides, it was already 11 o'clock, would Shi Yi have gone to bed after sending the request? Or was he about to go to bed

If Shi Yi was in a hurry to sleep, wouldn't it be tactless for her to drag her to chat? But if they didn't chat for a few more words, and this time they talked about the mooncakes, when would they chat again

The most important thing is... She stared at the old cracks on the corner of the phone screen and wondered if she should be more rational, not always thinking about getting close to Shi Yi, and not getting too close to Shi Yi.

The screen went dark because it had not been operated for too long. In the darkness, Fu Shitian took a long breath and said, "Forget it." It seemed that no matter how he thought about it, it was not good.

It was obviously a very simple matter, but because the target was Shi Yi, she had many concerns.

Today's happiness is enough, so we should be satisfied with it. Don't be greedy, and you won't be disappointed by not being satisfied.

She closed her eyes and tried to hypnotize herself to sleep, but her hand was tightly holding the phone and she would not let go. If the phone made the slightest noise, she would be able to detect it immediately.

But the phone went silent after that.

Fu Shitian tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. In her mind, there was the childish Shi Yi in childhood, the calm Shi Yi in high school, and the Shi Yi who smiled at her at night.

She was so close yet so far away. After an unknown amount of time, Cheng Jialuo's snoring became quieter and louder, and the noise of drunks passing by outside the campus appeared and disappeared. Fu Shitian finally got relief and fell into a deep sleep in a daze.

As the sky brightened, Fu Shitian woke up to the usual 6:30 music coming from the square in the distance. The alarm time had not yet arrived, so Fu Shitian raised his hand, unlocked the phone screen, and prepared to cancel the alarm, but somehow he opened QQ to check the message first.

Apart from the daily system push, there is no news.

As expected. Fu Shitian couldn't say she was disappointed. She stared at Shi Yi's profile picture with a soft look in her eyes. She said "good morning" to her in her heart and got up.

In the morning, she and Chen Xizhu were going to work part-time at a commercial plaza an hour's drive away, and they agreed to meet at the bus stop at 7:30.

For fear of disturbing Cheng Jialuo and Luo Xi, Fu Shitian took his toiletries and went to the public bathroom in the middle of the 13th floor to wash his face and brush his teeth, then went out with his thermos and bag.

The water in the thermos was hot water that she had filled last night. She went to the cafeteria and bought a steamed bun at the snack window. She saw the mooncakes displayed on the side. After a little hesitation, she picked the most expensive mooncake, a can of yogurt, and paid for the steamed bun together.

At the table, she put on her headphones, took out a book from her schoolbag, and ate steamed buns while practicing her listening skills with hot water. When the time was almost up, she packed up her things, replaced the listening skills in her headphones with music, walked out of the school gate in the morning light, and walked towards the bus stop.

Chen Xizhu had already arrived and started waving at her as soon as he saw her from a distance.

Fu Shitian walked quickly to her side, took off one of his headphones, and asked her while zipping up his schoolbag, "Have you had breakfast?"

Chen Xizhu shook his head dejectedly: "I turned off the alarm clock, thinking I would sleep for another five minutes..."

You don't need to guess what the result is. Having known Chen Xizhu for such a long time, Fu Shitian has already figured it out. Chen Xizhu is good in every way except for one thing: she likes to stay in bed too much in the morning.

"You." Fu Shitian was helpless. She handed the yogurt and mooncakes to Chen Xizhu, "Just right, I brought them for you."

"Wow! Tiantian, you are so nice!" Chen Xizhu took it with both hands, wishing she could bury her head in Fu Shitian's shoulder and cry.

Fu Shitian took a step back with amusement and stopped her coquettish behavior.

Chen Xizhu stood up straight and sighed, "Oh, so ruthless." She put the straw into the yogurt and drank two sips to relieve her hunger. "How much is it? I'll give it to you later."

"no thanks."

"No, Tiantian, you have only been in college for a few days. Have you become a bad person?" Chen Xizhu narrowed his eyes and looked at Fu Shitian.

Fu Shitian was puzzled: "Hmm?"

Chen Xizhu said seriously: "If you don't charge me, I will be embarrassed to ask you to bring me food next time. Is this what you are thinking about?!"

Fu Shitian smiled and compromised, "I can't argue with you. Then give me one dollar and fifty cents."

Chen Xizhu showed a puzzled expression, and Fu Shitian explained: "It's the money for the yogurt. The mooncakes were given to me by a classmate, so I'm sharing them with you."

Chen Xizhu said readily: "Okay, deal."

The bus arrived and the two got on. Since it was a non-food car, Chen Xizhu put away the yogurt and waited until he reached the backstage lounge at the mall's workplace before taking it out again.

Fu Shitian saw her eating mooncakes and couldn't help but ask her: "Is it delicious?"

Chen Xizhu was in a hurry and ate it hastily: "It's okay, it's delicious."

Fu Shitian felt a little guilty, but also a little relieved, and said in a muffled voice: "That's good..."

After Chen Xizhu finished eating, it was time for work. Their job today was to walk around the mall to coordinate with the Mid-Autumn Festival activities. It sounded easy, but because they had to wear heavy doll costumes, even though the mall was not open-air, it was hot enough in September.

What's more, there are always troublesome kids from time to time.

I don't know how many times I have returned to the first floor to walk around. It was almost eleven o'clock and the flow of people in the mall had obviously increased. Fu Shitian and Chen Xizhu were wearing Pikachu and Doraemon doll costumes and passed by an amusement area. I don't know how they attracted three little boys again.

The little boy, who looked about seven or eight years old, ran over from the bench, playing and laughing, and his parents were nowhere to be seen. At first, Fu Shitian thought they were just curious, pulling the tails of their doll costumes and poking their bodies.

After just a few steps, Fu Shitian realized that this was not the case.

The little boys followed them with laughter, and from time to time they would rush up to pat their Pikachu and Doraemon's heads as if they were competing to see who could jump higher. One would kick them, and the other would follow suit. They followed them all the way, making noises all the way. Fu Shitian and Chen Xizhu were already dizzy from the heat, and they were tripped up and almost fell down several times, which was very annoying.

However, due to work regulations, they could not take off their hoods, could not speak, and could not show that they were unhappy. They could only pray in their hearts that the parents would show up soon.

She was kicked again, and a boy pulled her doll costume out. Fu Shitian had no way to dodge and staggered forward two steps. Chen Xizhu was so angry that she wanted to take off her hood and curse.

"What are you doing?" A sharp scolding voice rang out.

The boys immediately retracted their hands and feet and looked towards the source of the sound. Fu Shitian's heart moved and he also looked over.

Two young and beautiful girls, one tall and one short, were standing by the escalator not far away. The tall one, leaving the shorter one who seemed to want to dissuade her girl, walked straight towards them.

Step by step, Fu Shitian's heartbeat was disrupted.

It’s Shi Yi.

She seemed to have blow-dried her hair today, leaving it loose, with the ends slightly curled. She was wearing a skirt, and was very pretty. She was definitely the kind of fairy sister that children loved the most. But the boys had no time to admire her. When they saw her approaching with a frosty face, they held their breath in fear. When they heard her coldly question, "Where are your parents? Who taught you to bully people like this?", they were even more scared and ran away, shouting strangely.

Shi Yi watched them run away, then turned around to look at Pikachu and Doraemon, his glare still sharp.

Doraemon waved his short arms and bent down, as if to thank Shi Yi. Pikachu stood there blankly, his headgear askew, looking a little silly.

Shi Yi took a step closer to Pikachu.

Fu Shitian's throat tightened and he stared blankly at Shi Yi's figure enlarging in his pupils.

Shi Yi stretched out his hand and brought a burst of fresh fragrance to Fu Shitian's nose.

She straightened Pikachu's headgear.

"You're scaring a kid, aren't you afraid that the parents will show up and scare you?" The girl standing not far away walked closer and teased Shi Yi. They were not the only ones who noticed the situation here, but Shi Yi was the only one who really stepped out.

Shi Yi laughed, took his hand back, ignored the teasing, turned around and walked towards the girl, gradually walking away. Her long curly hair swayed behind her, like a fish, swimming in Fu Shitian's heart.

She is so nice.

She certainly wouldn't have thought it was me.

Doraemon's chubby hand poked Fu Shitian's waist, calling him back to his distracted state. Fu Shitian started to move, absent-mindedly following Chen Xizhu and continued to move forward.

During the lunch break, the two of them and several other part-time workers sat in a lounge without air conditioning or electric fans, eating free lunch boxes provided by the merchant.

It was so hot that the two of them had no appetite. They drank a whole bottle of water and ate a few mouthfuls of rice and couldn't eat anymore.

Let's go out together to throw away the lunch boxes and take a breath. On the way, Chen Xizhu suddenly grabbed Fu Shitian and whispered: "Tiantian, Tiantian, look over there."

Fu Shitian followed her gaze and looked towards the escalator going up to the second floor.

Chen Xizhu's eyebrows and eyes were filled with admiration without her realizing it: "Did you see that girl with the red bag?"

"Um."

"That's the senior from the department I told you about before. She's a goddess. What a coincidence, she's also here shopping."

Fu Shitian nodded and said flatteringly, "Yeah, it's quite beautiful."

Chen Xizhu felt that she was perfunctory and asked unsatisfactorily: "Then... Oh, the girl who helped us just now was also very pretty. Who do you think is prettier, my senior or her?"

"She is beautiful." Fu Shitian said without hesitation.

Chen Xizhu pursed her lips, feeling even more dissatisfied. She was a little unconvinced, but after thinking about it carefully, she didn't have the confidence to refute. Although in her eyes, the senior sister was really pretty, very nice, and very kind.

Thinking of this, Chen Xizhu sighed: "That girl just now was quite nice. She looked quite cold and didn't seem like someone who would meddle in other people's business."

Fu Shitian curved his lips and affirmed: "Yes, it is very good."

She has always been such a good person.

Everyone says Shi Yi is cold, but she always feels that her heart is warm.

Thinking about Shi Yi all the way, when he returned to the lounge again, Fu Shitian finally couldn't resist the temptation and sent the first message to Shi Yi: "I ate the mooncake, it was so delicious [smiley face]".
