My Life as A Death Guard

Chapter 131: 122 Carastiphon, in the fog

Views:

Endurance.

The vast universe is flowing, the Galaspa Galaxy is running steadily along its trajectory, and the fluctuations of spiritual energy are beginning to surge.

The orders that Hades requested were sent to distant Barbarus along with the astropath's whispers and the flashes of psychic lightning.

Mortarion turned around and looked at Hades silently.

Hades demands that the recruitment mission on Barbarus be suspended immediately and that Karas be placed on standby.

"I noticed that you have always been hostile to Karas."

"Why?"

Hades choked up, and after a while, he slowly spoke:

"Do you remember the prophecy, Death?"

"I see more than you do."

"I saw that Calastyphon was the first of the Death Guard to fall."

Mortarion was silent for a moment, then his hoarse voice spoke again.

"But he is not the only one in that prophecy."

Hades took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry. I know this may seem like an inexplicable targeting, but now, I really need to go to Barbarus to confirm the situation."

Mortarion paused, and he began to recall, the details of the past appearing clearly in his mind.

At first, Hades and Karas didn't get along so well.

Mortarion simply assumed that the two of them thought the other was a freak and didn't think much about it.

But if it seems now, Hades' attitude towards Karas was more like warning than disgust

But they did have some happy times together later, when the new base was being established and everything was still thriving.

At that time, they still firmly believed that the liberation of Barbaros was inevitable, and they had no idea that there was such a bloated and huge human empire.

Later, Hades went south alone because of his physical condition, and Karas also went south to lead the army.

What followed was life in the legion. Because of the legion's management model, the three of them gradually went their separate ways.

Although Carastiphon had come to see him at first, they had no private contact since the farce in the duel cage.

Mortarion began to carefully recall and compare the last scene in his memory, Typhon who came to him and applied to return to Barbarus to recruit soldiers.

Karas was exactly the same as he remembered, and he didn't notice anything unusual.

Mortarion frowned.

"If Karas has no problem, how are you going to explain it to him then?"

"I will apologize."

Hades stared at the map marked with various routes, and his hoarse and heavy voice rang out.

He also hoped that he was just overly nervous.

Barbaros.

Now.

A goshawk flew across the cloudy sky, alone, flapping its wings and neighing, before disappearing into the rolling poisonous clouds.

Thick clouds were pressing gloomily over vast tracts of wasteland and farmland. A rainstorm was approaching, and the air was filled with the sour smell of water vapor.

People all returned to their settlements to take shelter from the rain, and a figure loomed above the vast, dark land.

Carastiphon walked slowly along the ridge of the field, holding his sickle in his hand, and the sickle blade plowed a straight, deep furrow in the loose soil.

Originally, he was still actively preparing for the recruitment of new soldiers. Rodan went to negotiate with the biological sage who was in charge of the gene seeds on the Star Ring, while Karas chose to return to the human settlement on Barbarus to recruit new soldiers.

But something seemed to have happened. The existence that was supposed to have died still survived. Amid the boiling sound of the swamp mud, the plan was shelved and terminated.

So here he was, staying away from everyone and slowly making his way towards the highest mountain in Barbarus.

Upwards, to the highest peaks, into the thickest fog, beneath the skin, blood and flesh surge.

In the distance behind him, there was a small commotion, but it soon calmed down.

There was a buzzing in my ears.

Carastiphon still gritted his teeth and continued on his way, his once clear mind once again falling into the quagmire.

+You should know that you are an outlier after all, so why do you try to find recognition among those who expel you? +

+Accept the power from the highest heaven and trample those weak humans under your feet! +

"My mother is human."

"Shut up, monster."

A shrill, acid laugh cut through Karas's patience.

+Oh - that poor human female, if she wasn't a little stronger, I would have chosen someone else. +

+But it seems that the monster born is destined to be a failure. +

+ Look, you thought it was Mortarion of the same species, you thought it was just a pet of the lords, but it turned out to be real gold. +

+ Only you, a product of alien and human, a monster that is neither fish nor fowl. +

+No one cares about you, you are just a clown who keeps shouting "Come and see me". +

+Weakness, your original sin is weakness! +

The shrill sound became faster and faster, clouds hung to the ground, and thick fog descended.

With a click, the sound disappeared.

A figure slowly emerged from the fog, and Karas staggered.

"mom?"

He said.

The short and hunched woman stood in the room, looking at him with a smile. Only then did Callas realize that his mother was so short.

He walked over and sat down. His mother gently stroked his power armor. She was still the same, just like at the beginning of his memory, when she held him in her arms and hid from the villagers.

+ I have grown so big. +

She said.

He smiled. Carastiphon did not die. He was not corroded by the ubiquitous poisonous gas, nor was he stoned to death by the angry villagers, nor was he eaten by his alien father.

Karas is alive and he won.

+What's wrong? Are you unhappy? +

She looked at him, a green light flickering in her cloudy and dim light green eyes.

"I'm fine. I came to Babarus to recruit soldiers. I became a small manager of a legion."

+Someone hates you? +

Karas was speechless, but shook his head weakly.

"No."

"Just. Just because of something,"

+Would you like to hear about it? +

The hunched and tired mother also sat down, and Karas seemed to have returned to the evening when he was chased by the villagers.

They just sat there silently on the edge of the poisonous fog, shivering with panic and cold.

For fear of being discovered, the picked up firewood was not lit, and a few black branches were left alone on the ground.

"I had some unpleasantness with my friends."

"Originally, everything was fine, but some accidents still happened."

His mother looked at him patiently.

+Karas has made friends, which is a good thing. +

+Wherever there are people, there will be differences, even among friends.+

She placed her dry and small hand on Callas's hand, which, after the operation, looked like a giant's palm.

+If the differences are too great, it is better to talk to your friends about His teachings. +

He

+ The cycle of life and death is lingering, despair and greed melt the remaining thoughts, entropy accumulates and destroys and stagnates. +

+All people in the world suffer, only He is kind. +

+Mom knows she can't keep up with you, +

Her light green eyes looked at him tenderly.

+ If you can be in His merciful embrace, then even destruction is nothing to fear. +

+And I think your friends will choose a benevolent monarch. +

+He will forgive your past mistakes, and you will no longer have to be in such a hurry. +

The light green eyes are filled with kindness and love.

He reached out and took his mother's hand.

His mother looked at him tenderly.

Fat white maggots swarmed in his eye sockets and pus flowed.

"I have to go."

Karas looked into those light green eyes and said to himself,

"Indeed, I need to make my two friends realize the error of their ways now."

The figure in front of him turned into a pool of thick water as he suddenly realized it, but Karas seemed not to notice it. He picked up his sickle and continued on his way.
