My Life as A Death Guard

Chapter 210: More than 200 people, placed, tentacles

Views:

Horus swore that even in the years before he was found by the Empire, he had never seen a scene as absurd and real as today.

The streets were crowded with flesh and tentacles, with human corpses and tentacles piled up one after another, emitting a strong stench of corpses. Turbid blood flowed under the feet along with pieces of flesh and eyes. If one wanted to move forward, one had to step on the corpses.

In the dim sky and earth, there were only bloody corpses.

But this was not the most absurd part for Horus. The Primarch had seen battlefields more tragic than this, where open spaces were filled with the corpses of friendly warriors and enemies.

Horus looked up at his brother, Mortarion, and he didn't know what to say. Words were beginning to fail him.

Mortarion, Mortarion was digging, digging on a hill of flesh and blood, and the Death Guard beside him were also trying their best to assist the Primarch in this work, but Mortarion could obviously leave this matter entirely to his descendants, but the Primarch might think that this was too slow, so Mortarion began to dig by himself.

Horus still remembered that just now, the Lord of Death strode into the pile of corpses and walked firmly towards the center of the mountain of corpses. Corpse fluid and tentacles slid down the armor on Mortarion's feet, but Mortarion did not stop for a moment.

"Sorry, wait a moment."

After throwing these words to the Wolf God, Mortarion began his excavation work.

Digging in a pile of tentacles that could sink and collapse at any time was not a good idea. Mortarion and his men had cleared out a sufficient amount of tentacles, and the slippery and sticky tentacles were thrown everywhere by the Death Guards. Horus was not sure how deep they had dug, but what was certain was that they did not intend to stop until they found something.

Finally, as if he had discovered something, Mortarion squatted down in an ungraceful manner and put most of his body, along with his huge sickle, into the hole they were digging.

The Wolf God was already surprised to the limit, and Mortarion's ungraceful behavior shocked him. Horus originally thought that after seeing these, he would no longer be surprised, but obviously, after Mortarion brought up what he had dug up, Horus found that his definition of "limit" was not accurate.

Mortarion carefully lifted his sickle. There seemed to be something heavy hanging on the end of the sickle, which forced Mortarion to adjust his position several times to prevent himself from falling on the slippery pile.

Then he brought it up—

A bunch of tentacles

Mortarion slammed the large mass of tentacles to the ground with a "snap", and then the Death Guard rushed forward and began to manually peel off the tentacles. Finally, a bit of bone-white armor edge was revealed, which seemed to be a hand.

Mortarion directly grabbed the hand, and then as if he wanted to shake off the tentacles attached to the armor, the Primarch directly picked up Hades and began to shake it. As the tentacles peeled off, a dying Death Guard leaked out.

Perhaps the whole scene was too shocking. Horus felt that he didn't know how to think anymore. The wolf god tried to think carefully about the whole process, thinking about what kind of rationality allowed him to finally see such a scene, but he was too shocked. Horus felt that he should be embarrassed, but the person involved, Mortarion, acted smoothly and he didn't feel there was anything wrong with it.

Finally, Horus decided to give up thinking about this matter for the time being. He looked at the picture and no longer tried to speak.

Mortarion laid Hades flat on the ground again, and the Primarch squatted down to check Hades' condition.

Due to the heavy pressure, cracks had appeared on the Death Guard's armor, and it was obvious that some liquid from the tentacles had seeped in.

Mortarion first mobilized the information in Hades' armor. Good, his limbs were intact, but he seemed to be mentally unclear.

Then Mortarion carefully read the life value on Hades' armor. Good, no rescue was needed. He was just paralyzed by the venom of these tentacles. Mortarion was sure that even if they did not come to rescue Hades, after waiting for a while, Hades' body would break through the toxins and he would be able to crawl out by himself.

He thought Hades was about to die. This thought had been lingering in Mortarion's mind for a long time, making the Primarch feel the fear gradually climbing up.

Fortunately it was a false alarm.

Mortarion breathed a sigh of relief expressionlessly, and then the Primarch casually wiped his hands on a slightly cleaner part of Hades' armor to clean off the venom that had just stained him from digging at him. He still had to talk to Horus later and couldn't get his hands dirty.

Of course, this included Mortarion's personal emotions, such as mocking Hades for not being dead and asking him to save him, and sending a bunch of distress signals, which caused Mortarion to disregard his image in front of Horus.

"He's fine, take him back first."

Mortarion gave orders to the Death Guard, then he silently picked up the scythe and walked towards the numb Horus.

Mortarion felt that Horus should speak first, and he should answer whatever he asked. However, Mortarion stood in front of Horus for three seconds with a clear conscience, and Horus still did not speak.

So only Mortarion could speak.

Mortarion uttered something without thinking.

Horus looked at Mortarion with difficulty. What did he see? Was Mortarion referring to the alien corpse that blocked out the sky, or the scene that Mortarion had just excavated

Horus swallowed his saliva. The Wolf God could easily reconcile various conflicts between brothers, could easily see through political hypocrisy, and could command a victory without any effort. He was the most sociable and flexible among the Primarchs and could deal with all kinds of emergencies well.

But now, Horus felt for the first time that speaking was so difficult.

Especially when standing in front of him was Mortarion with an "I told you all" expression on his face.

Horus squeezed out the words from his throat awkwardly. He asked the most worthless question.

"That's... your death shroud Hades, the Techmarine?"

Mortarion nodded.

".He killed the alien leader alone?"

Mortarion took two labored breaths, and a hissing sound came from the breathing mask.

"To be precise, he was able to survive because he coordinated with the Death Guard's orbital attack."

Even with orbital attacks, this is weird enough, right

As if knowing the doubts in Horus' mind, Mortarion said,

"Hades is an untouchable, you know that, my brother."

"We have all seen the Sisters of Silence. My Death Guard has a similar physique to them."

"So he's immune to most psionic damage, which I guess is why he survived."

Horus looked at the pile of corpses in the distance. Mortarion did not mention a word that Hades killed the alien lord alone.

Is this really something that can be achieved by an individual

Or, the "targeted" refers to

Horus couldn't believe that Hades could do this alone, but if the Death Guard had a dedicated army

"So the power of the Sisters of Silence can reach this level? It seems that I was a little frivolous in treating those sisters."

Mortarion shook his head.

"Hades is stronger than them."

“He’s a special case.”

"This is a completely unique case. It cannot be repeated. He is the only one like this in the Death Guard."

“And this success”

Mortarion looked towards the huge tentacle mountain.

"I am also surprised by this, but I believe that with Hades' ability and a little luck, this is feasible."

Mortarion might be able to figure out what Horus was thinking, but Horus didn't believe that Hades could do all this alone. His thoughts gradually turned to the area that Mortarion didn't want him to think about.

"We can review the footage in his helmet after the battle."

Mortarion snapped.

The exposure of Hades is only a matter of time, so it is better to put the remaining secrets of the Death Guard in a hidden corner under the glory of Hades in advance.
