Before coming into contact with the Twelfth Legion, Hades had wondered what Angron would be like.
He thought he would see a half-crazy madman, a butcher, a Primarch driven mad by the torture of nails, and if the situation was worse, Hades was even prepared to face the Ascended Demon Angron.
After all, apart from informing the World Eaters of Angron's location in advance, Hades did nothing on this fateful line.
But when he blew open the door, Hades realized he was wrong.
He saw a tragedy.
He would put an end to this suffering himself.
————————
"Bang!"
There was a sudden explosion, the heavy door was blown open, blood and heat rushed straight to his face, accompanied by a suddenly intensified roar.
Hades narrowed his eyes, and he simply used his hand to stop Mago who was about to rush into the hall when the door was blown open, and darkness quickly enveloped the entire place.
But considering the presence of the World Eater beside him, Hades only lowered the Black Domain to a slightly suppressing level.
After taking a thorough look at the situation in the hall, Hades' face darkened.
[Rock! Rock! Wake up! ! ! ]
The beast painfully pinned the demon against the wall with its battle axe, spitting blood and saliva on the demon's face. Angron screamed in vain, the Primarch trembled, and the nails buzzed.
The demon in his hands was flapping its wings weakly.
"kill… "
A faint sound came from the helmet pierced by the giant goat's horn.
"Kill my...father."
The next moment, Angron's painful roar almost tore everyone's eardrums. Hades could feel the gradually spreading pain of the World Eater beside him. The Primarch's grief had an unimaginable impact on his offspring.
After confirming that there were no physical traps in the hall, Hades simply left everyone around him behind and strode forward to shrink the black area.
"Angron!"
Hades yelled,
"Angron, reinforcements are coming!"
The sudden intensification of the black domain caused the Primarch to tremble violently. Angron turned around, and his pupils reflected Hades and the blue and white figures of the World Eaters behind Hades.
The Lord of Red Sand laughed loudly, blood foam spurted out, and his face was distorted to the extreme.
[Are you here? I’m here, good… good! I’m late! I’m late!]
Angron laughed sadly, his body began to sway, and his hands against Rock gradually became weaker.
The Lord of the Mountain vomited a mouthful of blood, and he opened his arms in despair. Rock, who was seriously injured, slid to the ground as the Primarch moved.
[It’s too late!]
It's too late! It's too late to say anything! How can a son sacrifice his soul to protect his father?! Angron didn't protect anything! He fought again and again, made vows again and again, but now look, he didn't do anything!
Angron wailed. He wished he could die immediately. He should have died on the very first day. There would be no more Angron! There would be no more Son of the Mountain! His teacher and descendants would not die because of him.
Angron laughed.
[Why are you still looking for me?! A slave who was tortured to death by nails, don't give me any more illusory expectations! ]
Pieces of flesh flowed from his nose, and Angron wiped them away carelessly. He grinned and looked at Rock. The scarlet deformation covered Rock's body. He could hardly recognize his offspring.
He did nothing, but instead let others give everything for him.
The heat and blood burned Angron, plunging him into an emotional abyss. Rock's words of comfort only made Angron feel more guilty, and he fell into a deeper abyss.
Such an unqualified legion commander... Angron thought, would the Empire send someone to judge him? He wished that the Empire would come to judge him instead of trying to save him in vain.
"And will you abandon the World Eaters who still await you, Angron?"
Angron was stunned.
The one who came from darkness made a flat voice, and the red light looked at him coldly.
"And... please, make way."
Hades stepped forward directly. Angron's emotions were very unstable, but he still made way for Hades. Did he realize what Hades was going to do next
The sickle obituary hung obediently at Hades' side. Hades put away the Black Domain and commanded the World Eaters and the Soulless to deploy into the hall.
Hades lowered his eyes calmly. He looked at the World Eater who was struggling with Khorne in pain. A similar scene overlapped in his eyes.
Hades stretched out his hand and grabbed the great demon by the neck. Angron seemed to be annoyed by Hades's action. He rushed forward, but Hades raised his other hand and stopped him with the sickle in his hand.
"I am trying to save him, Angron. Please let me try."
Hades gestured to the Soulless to be alert for the next thirty seconds.
He watched Hades close his eyes defenselessly, and then... the gloomy energy surrounding Rock began to dissipate.
The blood axe that was bitten into Rock's gauntlet began to scream. The silk threads connecting the warrior like blood vessels were rapidly weakening, and cracks climbed up the demon's horns. The horns that were originally like sharp blades were now as brittle as loose soil.
Angron watched all this in disbelief.
Rock... Rock can still be saved.
He felt his nose sore, and Angron looked down to see pieces of meat dripping onto the ground.
Finally, the imperial reinforcement opened his eyes, took a deep breath, and looked quite tired.
"Well... Rock held on to the last piece of pure land in his heart—Angron. His loyalty to you saved himself. He did not succumb to the devil."
Hades said softly,
"A very respectable warrior,"
Hades took a deep breath and tightened his grip on his sickle.
"Angron, try... not to disappoint them... I have something else to say, but we can talk after we get out."
He turned his head to look at Angron, and instantly Hades realized that he had made a mistake. Angron's facial muscles were twitching wildly. The nails were too deep and seemed to have been torn off roughly.
But Angron seemed to feel no pain at all. He stared at Rock, then slowly turned his gaze towards Hades.
[Who are you?]
"Hades, don't say that yet, Angron, give me ten seconds, no, five seconds - let me check your nails."
Hades could see that the Butcher's Nails inflicted great, unbearable pain on Angron, who would twitch uncontrollably under the effects of the nails.
The nails were driven so deep that Hades would not be surprised even if Angron suddenly went mad and hit him with an axe.
But Angron didn't. He was like a wild beast trapped in place. Angron bared his teeth and watched Hades approach him and touch his head, which made him uncomfortable.
[Thank you.]
Angron said.
He heard Hades gasp in pain, but he continued examining Angron, and finally, Hades stopped and stared at him.
"I... I might try, but not now. We need to return to the World Eaters ship immediately to operate on you, Angron. You cannot fight any longer."
Angron grinned, and when he realized that Rock was fine, the pain from the nails took over his consciousness again.
[Then how do we escape? Didn't you hear their footsteps coming over? ]
He saw Hades staring at him seriously. If it weren't for the gasp that Hades just made, Angron would have thought he was something like a master of the imperial guards.
As for why Hades looked like a Primarch, Angron didn't care. Maybe Hades could be one of his brothers
"You can't fight anymore. The nails will kill you. I will use the Black Domain to force your soul and body into a semi-comatose state. This way, the nails will stop piercing deep because they lose stimulation. Then we can think of other ways."
Angron panted, and he might have wanted to fight, but he felt the eyes of the World Eaters on him - no... it hurt him.
[Okay, I'll listen to you.]
Angron said.
The next moment, sickening darkness enveloped him, and Angron could no longer hold up his already overdrawn body. He staggered and fell down, but Hades caught him as expected, and then Hades carried Angron on his back.
Angron tilted his head. He could still feel the soreness and weakness in his muscles, but he watched with satisfaction as Mago carried Rock on his back and the two ugly wings fell off Rock's back.
After finding and stabilizing Angron's condition, Hades immediately ordered a retreat. Carrying Angron on his back, he led the armies of the World Eaters and the Soulless, and fought his way through Khorne's territory.
The closer they got to the exit, the smaller Khorne's army became. In the end, Hades couldn't even detect Khorne's psychic power with the Black Domain.
Based on Hades' past experience, this might not be good news.
Sure enough, as they retreated out of the building, the magma in the rift erupted with an earth-shaking roar, and the planet's crust began to tremble violently.
Sleeping underground, the true master of this planet awakens.
In the blurred vision of the blizzard, Hades saw a familiar figure—
Necrons.
Only then did he realize that the building they had just entered was a graveyard occupied by Khorne.
So... Hades slowly realized that from the very beginning, Khorne might have had more than one goal.
Great!
