The country farm of the Su family was built at the foot of a small hill twenty miles outside the city.
There are no hot springs and no picturesque scenery, but there are many fruit trees and a big river to the east of the village.
The midday sun, as bright as gold, fell on the water, sparkling. Flocks of white water birds circled in the sky and disappeared into black dots on the horizon.
Su Muchen and General Yan each set up a fishing rod under the willow tree by the lake. Wei Yang sat on the side eating fruit and watching them fishing. Yan Gui and Su Changle were impatient to wait here for fishing, so they simply rolled up their trousers and went to the river on the other side to catch fish with a few guards.
"Dad, why haven't you caught any fish in such a long time?"
Wei Yang sat next to Su Muchen, watching the old general holding the bamboo pole without moving for a long time. Su Muchen had already lifted the pole several times, and the biggest one he caught was a carp weighing four or five pounds.
General Yan also felt strange. He was feeding the fish just like Su Muchen, but why did others catch several fish while he didn’t even see the tail of a fish
After thinking for a while, General Yan waved to Wei Yang and said, "Come here, little girl Su. I think if you come here, I can catch some fish."
Su Muchen couldn't help but chuckle, thinking to himself, fishing also depends on luck and skill, and has nothing to do with who Aunt Nine is with.
Weiyang believed it, so she held the lotus seeds and Xiaocao held her stool, and the two moved to the shade of the old general's tree. Xiaocao had just put down the stool and Weiyang hadn't sat down yet, when the old general pulled a lively silver carp out of the water.
“Haha, girl Su, look, you’ve got the fish as soon as you get there.”
The old general laughed loudly. Steward Ding reached out to take the fish, took it down and shook it: "I'm afraid it's three or four pounds."
Wei Yang stretched her head to take a look and saw that it was indeed a big fish. She turned to Xiao Cao and said, "Ask Madam Sun to make fish balls, fish fillets, and fish head soup. If there aren't enough fish, the eldest master has more."
Xiao Cao rolled up her sleeves excitedly: "Then send all the servants back, and let Madam Sun and Yougu prepare a fish feast."
The old general waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, don't worry, wait a little longer, maybe there will be a bigger one."
Just as he finished speaking, the fish float moved once, then again. The old general pulled it, and a big fish struggled to jump out of the water.
"Hurry, there's another big one." Xiao Cao hurried over to get the net bag and almost tripped over the wooden barrel at his feet. He stumbled to the water's edge and raised the net bag to catch the fish.
"Xiao Cao, slow down, be careful not to fall into the river."
Weiyang also wanted to catch the fish, but she was afraid that the river bank was slippery and it would be terrible if she fell in. She could only stand on the grass nearby and direct Xiaocao to catch the fish.
It’s another silver carp, a little bigger than the previous one.
The old general brought out four or five fishes one after another, some big and some small. However, Su Muchen could not see any fishes, and kept shouting anxiously: "Ninth Aunt, come here quickly, if you don't come here, the fishes won't bite."
Wei Yang had no choice but to move the stools, fruits and snacks with Xiao Cao to the shade of the tree on Su Muchen's side. Soon, the old general was unwilling to do so. As long as Wei Yang left, he could not catch any fish.
When Yan Gui and Su Changle came back with their guards carrying the fish and shrimp they had caught, they found the old general under one shade tree and Su Muchen under another shade tree. However, Wei Yang and Xiao Cao were sitting in the middle of the two shade trees, holding a big umbrella!
Yan Gui strode over, and before he could ask, Wei Yang suddenly stood up, pointed at the village entrance in the distance and asked:
"What is that?"
