My Wife is a Counsel

Chapter 723: Tradition

Views:

On March 5, 1959, Wang Jingmo, a reporter from the Anxi Station of the Montenegro Daily Telegraph, filed a lawsuit in the name of taxpayers in the Anxi Autonomous Region Court, arguing that the Anxi City Hall's "Municipal Institutional Reform Law" violated the rights and interests of taxpayers in Anxi City and violated the "Civil Service Reduction Law" promulgated by His Majesty the King of Han when he was the Prince of Montenegro Castle. This law is a superior law, and the decrees promulgated by the administrative organs of the territory shall not contradict it, otherwise the court should rule it invalid.

Because the case was beyond the jurisdiction of the Dominion Court, the Dominion Court referred the case to the Kingdom's local court, namely the Kingdom's Ansi District Court.

The Kingdom Court System is divided into two parts, the Kingdom Court System and the Dominion Court System.

The cases under the jurisdiction of the kingdom system courts mainly include: cases involving the kingdom's constitution, laws or commonwealth treaties, cases where one party is the kingdom government, cases involving agents of external commonwealth governments, cases on the high seas or in navigable waters used for foreign trade and trade between dominions, disputes between different dominions or between citizens of different dominions, and lawsuits filed by dominion governments against citizens of other dominions, etc.

For example, not to mention disputes involving citizens of different dominions, some serious cases that fall under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom Investigation Bureau will also be handed over to the Kingdom Regional Court for trial.

The dominion court system is primarily responsible for hearing cases involving citizens of the dominion.

The Dominion Court system consists of the lower courts (the courts of first instance for general civil and criminal cases under the jurisdiction of the Dominion), the Dominion Court of Appeal and the Dominion High Court.

The Royal Courts consist of the Royal Supreme Court, nine Royal Courts of Appeal, 65 Royal District Courts and two courts of special jurisdiction.

There are nearly 600 judges in the Kingdom, including 9 Supreme Court Justices, 103 appellate judges, 451 local judges, 9 judges of the Commonwealth Trade Court, and 11 judges of the Kingdom Claims Court.

These judges are jointly nominated by the Prime Minister and the Legal Affairs Committee of the King's Privy Council, reviewed by the House of Lords, and ultimately approved by His Majesty the King and serve for life.

Among the judges in the kingdom today, less than one-third are from Western ethnic groups. There is nothing that can be done about it. After all, legal talent in the Northern Territory was almost a desert before. It is impossible for there to be so many talented people suddenly in just a few years. Among these Western judges, the majority are from Gaide, and even the remaining two-thirds of the Central Continent judges were mostly hired from the East China Sea and other places. There are very few native judges in the Northern Territory.

But as long as they are local judges in the Northern Territory, they must be rare, and they are all extremely outstanding young and middle-aged judges.

Zhao Junyu, the chief justice of Wang Guo'anxi District Court, is a young man in his early thirties. He is from the Northern Frontier Province and studied law in Donghai. He was originally planning to stay in Donghai, but when he saw the changed world in the Northern Territory, he returned with great enthusiasm.

Han Annie discovered this talent when she was the Chief Justice of the High Court in Anxi and recommended him all the way.

Later, the court system was split into two systems: the Kingdom Court and the Dominion Court. Han Annie was the Chief Justice of the Kingdom's Anxi District Court.

Now Han Anni has gone to Xinjing and is the Queen Concubine Zhuang. She is also the chief member of the Legal Committee of the King's Privy Council.

Zhao Junyu was recommended to this position at a very young age. Of course, I say young because he was only in his thirties when he served as the Chief Justice of the Kingdom District Court. This position is usually held by old gentlemen in their fifties or sixties.

In the case of reporter Wang Jingmo suing Anxi City Hall, Zhao Junyu personally served as the presiding judge and decided to put the case on trial after the hearing.

Sitting opposite Lu Ming in the coffee shop was reporter Wang Jingmo, a young man in his twenties, wearing glasses and well-mannered.

However, his face was red and swollen, as if some scars had not yet healed.

In fact, he had filed a lawsuit with the Dominion Court half a month ago, and was arrested soon after.

A prosecutor named Li from the First Branch of the Anxi District Procuratorate filed a complaint against Wang Jingmo on the grounds that one of his articles constituted defamation. The Third Circuit Court of the Anxi Autonomous Region (a grassroots court of the autonomous region) has begun hearing the case and has detained Wang Jingmo without bail.

It was not until a group of lawyers arrived from Montenegro that Wang Jingmo was released on bail.

At the same time, the case of Wang Jingmo suing Anxi Municipal Hall was brought to the Wangguo Anxi District Court.

However, the lawsuit against Wang Jingmo for defamation has not yet concluded.

At this time, Lu Ming sipped his tea and said calmly, "You have made progress. You know how to frame you and go through the procedures to silence you, instead of throwing you directly into jail."

Mrs. Kate, who was sitting next to Lu Ming, was startled. This man rarely spoke in this tone. If it happened in an outside world, there would probably be a bloody storm.

Mrs. Kate, wearing a soft satin coat with plum blossom buttons and a light white Xiang skirt, has blonde hair and blue eyes. This Western beauty looks uniquely beautiful in the traditional Central Plains costume.

The four Western noble ladies were also in the royal residence, but they were all engaged in their own business.

Kate is now preparing to invest in building a TV station in Anxi. The range of the signal tower is actually the Anxi Autonomous Territory. It is a cooperation with Kunlun TV. It mainly broadcasts the programs of Kunlun TV and will also produce some local programs.

The audience nowadays is mainly the people in Anxi city. In the rural areas of Anxi, there are no families owning a television.

Although the price of black and white TVs has now dropped to around 100 yuan.

Initial investments will definitely result in losses, and the main focus is on the future.

Lu Ming would not interfere with them doing what they wanted to do, not to mention that these would only benefit the local people.

Wang Jingmo met Mrs. Kate, a big boss, through an introduction. He was planning to switch to the media company of this female boss. It was also at Kate's instigation that he sued the City Hall.

Now he was regretting his decision to the core. As a journalist, and given great protection by the Kingdom's press law, he was highly respected wherever he went. He was the true uncrowned king. So when this noble lady mentioned that the new decree issued by the City Hall violated the laws of the Kingdom, he already felt something was wrong, and he got so excited that he said he would sue the City Hall.

He thought he would gain both fame and fortune, but he immediately felt the horror of power. He was called an uncrowned king. He was simply a helpless little lamb. It was normal for him to directly satirize officials at press conferences. After he did so, people became more polite to him.

But now it seemed that he had really violated someone's taboo. The pet in the cage, which was originally so docile in his eyes, suddenly turned into a terrifying monster. He was not even a small ant. He felt so powerless and helpless that he was shattered to pieces by a slight blow.

"Chief Wang, can I withdraw the lawsuit?" Wang Jingmo said cautiously.

This Section Chief Wang is from the police department and is a friend of Mrs. Carter. But how can a small section chief have any sense of presence in such a shocking incident

Mrs. Carter is pretty, but she knows very little about the traditions of Middle-earth.

I have even forgotten some of the traditions in recent years, but Anxi is still the same Anxi, and deep down, she has never changed.

Lu Ming looked at him and smiled: "Now, it's not just your business. Moreover, everything is handled by the legal team. They have also found more than a dozen taxpayers who are willing to jointly file a complaint. If you want to withdraw, it's up to you." He glanced at Kate and thought that this guy is just a show-off and does not have the character of a real journalist. You have misjudged him.

Of course, we can’t blame the young man, as he must have been scared.

He turned to Wang Jingmo and said, "Regarding the case in which you are accused of defamation, if you withdraw, our lawyer friends will still help you fight the case as usual and will definitely win the case. Don't worry about that."

Wang Jingmo was stunned for a moment, his face flushed, he lowered his head and said: "I, I'll think about it..."

Lu Ming tapped on the table, thinking about the problems of the local prosecutorial system.

In fact, the kingdom's prosecutorial system has nothing to do with local governments. It is managed vertically from top to bottom, and the power of prosecutors is very independent. If superiors interfere with cases handled by subordinate prosecutors, even if it is just a hint, it is a serious violation of the law.

The three-level structure includes the Kingdom’s Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and the most basic sub-prosecutor’s office.

Local dignitaries cannot control prosecutors, but since prosecutors live locally, it is not surprising that they have close ties with local officials.
