Chapter 2

Arthur stumbled and staggered as he entered the door.

Mr. Allen, the suspect candidate for mayor, couldn't help laughing.

Arthur sat down with a blushing face, flustered, put the documents on the table, and turned them upside down. He stammered, "I, I'm on the first day of work."

Before the interrogation started, the interrogator was overwhelmed by the suspect's aura, which was unheard of.

The people watching from the window couldn't bear to watch. Someone asked Steven: "Is this batch of new recruits of this quality? Is he qualified? You let a rookie try the old fox politician."

Steven did not ridicule or disdain, but glanced at the questioner beside him.

At this time, they heard that Mr. Congressman, who had always been tough and non-violent and non-cooperative, actually laughed. He softened and said, "It's okay, kid."

Arthur in his early twenties was too young for him in his late forties.

Arthur still looked so young, clumsy, and unafraid.

Allen was actually willing to speak. Originally, he had always stated that he would not open his mouth until the lawyer came. He is a veteran in the officialdom for many years. They took turns to fight, but they failed to pry his mouth open.

Steve said calmly to his stunned colleagues, "He is the number one recruit in this period."

Arthur said shyly and honestly: "Actually, I don't know exactly what kind of case this is. I just got this file twenty minutes ago. May I have a look at it for a while?"

Allen smiled and shook his head: "Please."

Arthur had actually read it twice, but he still pretended to read it seriously, and spread the file openly so that Mr. Allen could see it.

Time passed slowly, and the room was so quiet that a needle could be heard, except for the sound of Arthur flipping through the documents.

Alan really had nothing to do, the soft sound of paper flipping was like a feather scratching his heart, he saw the person in the old photo inadvertently, and he heard the young inspector whisper curiously about the dusty Twenty Years of Names: "Bellante..."

These few syllables seem to have a strange magic power, quietly brushing away the dust in the memory.

The several hours of surveillance and interrogation kept him in a very tense state, but now he relaxed inexplicably, slightly moved.

At this moment, Arthur tentatively asked: "Can you tell me what kind of person Brandt is?"

Alan glanced at him, perhaps because Arthur was too similar to Brandt back then, or maybe the question seemed irrelevant, and he said, "Brand... is a very good person."

Arthur said: "From the picture, he looks smart, and he looks very handsome, beautiful boy."

Alan seemed to be in a mournful nostalgia, and said irrelevantly: "This photo is not as good-looking as him himself. He is a very smart boy. As long as he takes the exam, he will definitely be the first in our class... "

Speaking of this, he seemed to feel conflicted, paused for a moment, and said, "Well...he is the smartest and stupidest person I have ever met in my life."

Arthur asked genuinely curiously: "Will he not get along with his classmates?"

Allen leaned back, leaned on the back of the chair, rested his elbows on the armrest, turned slightly sideways, resting his chin on his hand, in a relaxed posture.

He seemed to be unable to restrain himself, and said smoothly: "When we first entered school, we couldn't tell that he was a child who came out of a slum. He told us frankly that his mother died when he was a child, and he and his father lived together. Life, his father is a car repair worker. Because of his excellent grades, he was recruited to our school by our principal with a high scholarship."

Arthur said, "But it doesn't sound like you hate him."

Allen lowered his eyes and said, "How could it be? When you met him working in a fast food restaurant, before you had time to feel embarrassed, he smiled at you, raised the brim of his hat, like a little sun, smiling and You say hello, no one will hate that smiling face."

Seemingly ready to probe further, Arthur asked, "... is he your friend?"

Allen was very keen, which touched his vigilance line, he immediately shut his mouth and glanced at Arthur.

Arthur looked harmless, quite innocent.

There is a knock on the door.

Allen's lawyer arrived, and he wouldn't say another word.

Arthur came out of the interrogation room and returned to Steve's side. He wondered about Steve's expression nervously, and didn't know whether he was satisfied or disappointed.

After warming up, Arthur began to adapt to the new job. He is now full of curiosity about the truth, eager to try, and wants to show off his skills. He asked his superiors to see more of his skills, and took the initiative to ask: "I think we should meet Bo Rand's father?"

Steve: "Do you know where his dad is?"

Arthur is like a child who raised his hand to answer questions in class and was selected by the teacher, his eyes lit up, and he ran away quickly: "I'll check it now!"
