Nanfeng didn't say anything, not because he didn't want to help the fat man, but because he didn't know what the fat man, who was the victim, should say to everyone in this situation.
Unable to get help, the fat man suddenly became wise and waved his hands carelessly, "Amitabha, Amitabha, I'm not a Bodhisattva yet, I'm just a mortal. Stop kneeling, get up, get up."
People without faith are very scary. They have no moral bottom line and can do anything. But once faith becomes fanatical, it is equally scary. Excessive belief will make you lose yourself. Even if the fat man said it casually, everyone including Murong Lu still knelt down and kowtowed to him devoutly. Then he slowly stood up and stood around, Wait for him to continue talking.
The fat man finally fooled him. Seeing his posture, everyone still wanted him to speak. They had no choice but to speak, but this time they failed to think quickly. They had no choice but to look at Nanfeng again and ask him for help.
Nanfeng still didn't speak, but he tilted his head and looked at Murong Lu.
The two of them had a tacit understanding for a long time. Even with just a look, the fat man could know what he was thinking. He cleared his throat and said to everyone, "I have important things to do when I come down this time. I didn't want to reveal my identity, but I found out that Murong Lu He is a good emperor who respects the Heavenly Patriarch and is sincere in serving the Buddha, but there are some small things that he does not do well enough, so I show up to give him a try. When the emperor is respected, he must keep his word and keep his word."
When the fat man said this, he looked at the group of monks and said, "Although you are my disciples of the Buddha, you are also the emperor's subjects. Chanting sutras, practicing Zen, doing good deeds and practicing are normal things. When the country needs you, you can share the king's worries and solve the country's problems. It’s business, we can’t delay two business matters.”
After the fat man finished speaking, everyone looked solemn and sang Amitabha again.
The fat man finally squeezed out these few words, fearing that everyone would force him to speak again, so he waved his hands hastily, "Okay, okay, no more, everyone is busy with their own business."
The fat man is a Bodhisattva, and what the Bodhisattva says has weight. Seeing the fat man say that he is a good emperor, Murong Lu was overjoyed. The fat man's words are worth a thousand words of love for the people and benevolent policies, and are better than ten thousand taels of money to support the people. Bodhisattvas are all. If he admits that he is a good emperor, no one among his people would dare to disapprove. However, while I am happy, I also have to reflect on myself. I will do my best in the future and do not embarrass the Bodhisattva.
Sometimes, one sentence can turn an enemy into a friend. Fatty's few words achieved this effect. Murong Lu's attitude instantly reversed and he treated the three of them with great respect and courtesy.
But the same words can also put others into eternal doom. The fat man pushed the monk to a very high level, but invisibly degraded the Taoist priest. The faces of the Taoist priests present were all ugly. Looking at the days after this posture I'm afraid there's no way I can make it through.
Seeing this, the fat man hurriedly pointed to Nanfeng and said to the monks, "This is my sworn brother in the human world. He is a high-level martial artist who teaches Taixuan. He and I are brothers. You and the Taoist priests must live in harmony, but you can't." Bullying others.”
When the monks heard this, they responded respectfully.
The group of Taoists were originally worried about being ostracized and suppressed, but now their worries were gone. They were in harmony and everyone was happy.
After the fat man's identity is recognized, the next thing will be easy to handle. The Bodhisattva has spoken. There will be no problem with the marriage between Wan Zhongyi and Murong Feng. In fact, Murong Feng was not happy at first, but he couldn't bear the fat man's words about his previous life. Marriage, this is over. Who can say clearly what happened in the past life and this life? It's not just what the fat man says.
But strangely enough, ever since she heard the fat man's words about marriage in her previous life, Murong Feng had a strange feeling towards Wan Zhongyi. Women all like to have random thoughts, and they also long for unforgettable love. If they can't get it, they will fantasize about it. The so-called strangeness It feels like it's just Murong Feng's fantasy and self-deception, but in reality, he is not the man who Yushu Linfeng has been infatuated with for three generations. He is just a leprous bastard who has become a spirit after a thousand years.
In any case, the marriage was settled and both parties agreed. The next step was trivial matters. Murong Lu was going to hold a banquet. The fat man originally drank wine and ate meat, but a group of eminent monks were watching below and he couldn't drink anymore. You can't eat meat either, so you can only choose some vegetarian dishes to eat. In fact, the feeling of being admired by others is not very good. If you want to maintain this feeling, you have to hold it all the time without getting tired.
After the dinner, the group of people refused to let the fat man go and asked him to give a sermon. If the fat man disagrees, they beg. If they still don't agree, they just kneel down and don't get up unless they are preaching. In their eyes, the fat man is Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and whatever he says can benefit them throughout their lives.
The fat man had no choice but to agree and took advantage of the opportunity to relieve himself. Nanfeng asked, "What should we do?"
"What should we do?" The two of them stood on the edge of the cliff and peeed.
"Lecture the scriptures, how can I not do that? Those old guys must be more familiar with the scriptures than I am. If I make a mistake in teaching, won't I make them laugh?" The fat man worried.
"No, they have great faith in you now. No matter what you say, it is right in their opinion." Nanfeng said.
The fat man shook his head repeatedly, "That's not possible. If I say something wrong and they do it, wouldn't it be harmful to them?"
Nanfeng pulled up his trousers and tied his waistband, "Otherwise, stop preaching to them, talk to them, say whatever comes to your mind, and don't hold it back, that would be inappropriate."
"That can't be said casually, there must be a context." The fat man said.
Nanfeng thought for a while and said, "Just tell them about Bajie. It's simple and won't be easy to reveal."
"This is a good method." The fat man nodded. The Eight Precepts are the precepts that Buddhist disciples follow daily. They can be deep or shallow, and it is not easy to make mistakes.
"Okay, you go in. I'll persuade that stubborn donkey to detoxify the unlucky general." Nanfeng said. The loyal general twitched for a while and then got up, but the root cause of the disease was found. My son, unable to speak, came over to toast Zhuge Chanjuan during the dinner. Zhuge Chanjuan ignored him and is still mute.
Hearing this, the fat man hurriedly grabbed Nan Feng, "Don't leave. Come in with me. I won't be safe if you're not there."
"You monks are holding a Dharma conference, and I, a Taoist priest, will join in and help." Nanfeng didn't want to go.
"Brothers who fight tigers, go ahead, go ahead." The fat man said.
"As for that?" Nan Feng laughed.
"You might as well let me hunt tigers. This is my biggest headache." The fat man sighed.
Nanfeng had no choice but to go in with the fat man.
Everyone who had to leave had left, and there weren't many people there. There were only a few old monks, and Murong Lu naturally had to accompany them. Wan Zhongyi was also there, and that was all.
The fat man had to sit in the main seat, with Murong Lu accompanying him. The old monks were on the left and right, with Nanfeng and Wan Zhongyi at the bottom.
There are oxtail candles and incense burning in the big tent. The eminent monk is giving lectures. According to the rules, you should wash your hands first with a gold basin. People in the martial arts learn how to wash their hands in a gold basin from the monks. However, there are basins and water is prepared. Fatty But he didn't wash his hands. After sitting down, he said casually, "We are not outsiders. Don't be so formal. I am not a Bodhisattva yet, so I won't talk about the scriptures with you. Let's just chat a few words."
Everyone was sitting upright, but after hearing what he said, they relaxed a little, but they didn't sit with their legs down like him, they all had their legs crossed, even Murong Lu had his legs crossed.
The fat man calmed down and cleared his throat, "You are all eminent monks who have received the monk's ordination. You have studied the scriptures thoroughly. I won't tell you these. I will tell you some things that are often used in daily life. , you listen selectively. If you think what I say makes sense, just listen. If you think what I say doesn't make sense, don't take it to heart. I'm not a Bodhisattva, so what I say may not be right."
The fat man tried hard to ease the atmosphere, but in the presence of the Bodhisattva, everyone still couldn't calm down and relax. Nanfeng was naturally an exception. Not to mention that the fat man was Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, even Sakyamuni Tathagata was still the same as Hugo in his eyes. The little fat man eating leftover porridge from a jar, real brothers will not alienate each other because of their higher status.
"The first precept in Buddhism is to abstain from killing living beings." The fat man said this and looked at the monks, "Have you ever killed any living beings?"
The fat man had killed everyone he saw bowing his head. It was just a matter of size. He might not have killed anyone, but who could guarantee that he would not step on ants when he walked
Seeing the monks bowing their heads, the fat man continued, "The most likely reason for killing is to kill for food. There shouldn't be many people killing for fun when they have nothing to do. There are not many cases of thieves and bandits killing people. Most of the killing is for living. I Is that correct?"
Although the fat man said it in a simple way, it still made sense. The monks nodded.
The fat man said again, "Buddha said that all things have animism, and every flower and tree also has spirituality. If there is spirituality, there is life. In fact, when we eat fast, we are also killing animals. We kill the offspring of plants and animals. Unlike cattle and sheep, plants and trees cannot speak. We don’t cry out in pain or bleed, so we feel less cruel, but in the end we still kill, and we kill every day.”
The fat man's words received no response from the monks, and he didn't know whether the monks were reflecting on his views or disagreeing with him, but this did not affect the fat man's continued words, "I don't think this abstention from killing living things is an absolute non-killing. But don't kill them indiscriminately, and don't eat meat if you can eat vegetarian food. After all, cattle and sheep have greater spirituality than vegetation.
If you encounter an evil person in daily life, do it if you can. If you can't, don't do it all. There are some people you can't change. If you don't kill the evil person, the evil person may kill more good people. What should I do? , kill, kill the evil person. If I don’t go to hell, who will go to hell? For the sake of the lives of all living beings, I bear this crime, and I bear the responsibility of this evil person.
So, we can’t be too rigid, and we don’t have to be afraid of stepping on ants when we walk, or burning moths when we light a lamp. Those are all trivial matters, and they won’t affect your attainment of Buddhahood. If you just focus on these trivial matters, that’s not compassion. , but a demonic obstacle. "
The fat man was still a little nervous at first, but now he let go and didn't care what the monks thought. He continued, "The second commandment is to stop stealing. When we talk about stealing, we have to understand what stealing is. I think it's stealing." Even if others suffer losses, stealing is definitely wrong. However, if I am about to starve to death and no one is willing to give alms, I may steal food to survive, but I will never steal from the poor. We cannot Killing others to save your own life.”
The fat man said that he went to get a water cup to drink water, and at the same time looked at Nanfeng.
Nanfeng raised his hand slightly, indicating that he should slow down his speaking speed. Although the fat man's words were a little rough and not comprehensive, they were still roughly correct, but he spoke too fast. In the eyes of the world, speaking too fast is not a sign of responsiveness. performance, but not calm enough.
The fat man nodded slightly, put down the water glass and continued, "Let's talk about the third commandment, abstain from evil. Didn't anyone say that? Food, sex, and sex are also human nature. Eating and asking for a wife are human nature. What we are talking about is abstaining from evil and marrying mortals. They are two different things. It is right for ordinary people to marry a wife and have children. Otherwise, the world will soon die. What we are talking about is that you cannot deceive and bully others. That is definitely wrong. In addition, the main reason why we want to quit sex is A kind of constraint on one's own concentration is the clarity of emptiness. Even if we can control the most difficult things to control, there is nothing else we can't control."
Naturally, no one interrupted the fat man when he spoke. After a pause, the fat man continued, "The fourth commandment is to abstain from lying. To put it bluntly, abstaining from lying means not lying. Bragging and drumming are definitely lies, but being too self-effacing is also a lie. Lying means not telling the truth. , It’s a lie to say it’s a big one, it’s a lie to say it’s a small thing. If you are a novice novice, don’t say you are a great master. If you are a great master, don’t say you are a novice novice. Just say whatever you want. Don’t be afraid of others saying you are immodest. , if you care about what mortals think, you’re just crazy.”
The fat man's words made the monks look more solemn and introspective. It is true that they had never said such arrogant words, but the latter situation mentioned by the fat man did exist. If you think about it carefully, the humble words that were inconsistent with the truth were indeed hypocritical. .
"The five precepts for drinking are similar to those for abstaining from evil spirits. Drinking alcohol is easy to become addicted. The prerequisite for meditating on Zen and enlightenment is to control yourself. If you can't control yourself, you won't succeed. In addition, there is another reason for abstaining from drinking. We are eating and drinking. Drinking is very addictive. Luxury should not make the donor feel that we are living in debauchery with others’ donations.”
At this point, the fat man wanted to yawn, but he held it back and continued, "Liujie, Xianghua, this is not difficult to do. The four elements of a monk are empty, even the skin is fake, and the things other than the skin are even more It’s not important, you can’t dress too fancy.”
Bajie went from difficult to simpler, and the fat man's words became simpler and simpler, "Qijie sits and sleeps on a big bed. This depends on the situation. If there is only one big bed to sleep on, is it possible to abandon it and sleep on the floor? It can't be too big. Just be too rigid and not deliberately pursue luxury. Where you sleep and where you sit depends on the situation.”
"Bajie's rule of eating out of season and not eating after lunch is actually a bit unkind. At least I think it is unkind. To put it bluntly, it means that I have received the donation from the donor. I feel guilty and dare not fill my stomach. I am so hungry that my chest is pressed against my back. , how can I calm down and study Buddhism? Even if I can't eat enough, I still have to eat seventy percent full. As far as I know, the courts of various countries have allocated a lot of land to temples. Rather than renting those lands to farmers for cultivation, they can earn gold in secret. It’s better to use the silver for farming yourself, so that you can eat more rice and less asking for it from others.”
"I said it from the beginning. I'm not a Bodhisattva yet, and what I say may not necessarily be right. That's all. It's getting late, so go to bed..."
