Returning to the Mysterious Era

Chapter 22: 022 Shadow

Kaxiu had money, but not much. Most of these yellow large-denomination federal banknotes were taken from the antiques commissioner named William. It must be said that this did solve some of his urgent needs. Meal money, accommodation fees, transportation fees...

He was busy from morning to afternoon, and finally stayed in a remote hotel because no identification was required there.

Standing by the window of a room on the second floor, Kaxiu glanced at the wet street below. There were two or three men in cheap shirts, holding umbrellas and chatting with laughter and curses.

On the left side of the avenue, you can vaguely see a female student in a white dress. She is holding up the hem of her overlong lace skirt while walking on small leather shoes. Her snow-white and well-proportioned calves are eye-catching, and they are wrapped in the latest popular stockings.

Some green moss was piled in the corner, and there was ivy covered with dew on the wall, occupying only a small area of the wall.

Feeling the cool breeze, Kaxiu took a bite of the sandwich in his hand. He had only just started lunch, although the lunch time was almost evening.

Kaxiu spent the whole afternoon applying for his fake ID, a small brown paper book. In this era, it is not difficult to get a fake ID if you want to. Especially if you pay quickly, you can usually get it done at noon and leave in the evening.

Every city has people who specialize in this field.

After finishing the sandwich in two bites, Kaxiu glanced at the brown wooden box on the bed, which contained some daily necessities he had bought.

I have to sleep in this hotel for one night, and tomorrow I can go to the train station with my fake ID to buy a ticket to BS City. BS City is more than 600 kilometers away from Fengnan City, spanning about two-thirds of Beiliu County, and it takes a day and a half to take the train.

Kaxiu had been to BS City for a tour, as it was an event held by Jersey University. He stayed there for more than two weeks and was quite familiar with BS City.

No matter what, let’s leave Fengnan City first.

Walking to the bed and pouring himself a glass of water, Kaxiu glanced at the cheap second-hand watch on his wrist. It was five twenty-one.

There are still nine minutes until half past five, almost time.

He walked to the coat rack, casually put on his black coat and hat. Just as he was about to open the door, he stopped and picked up the umbrella next to him. After he was ready, he went downstairs.

At the hotel front desk, a bald old man was taking a nap.

Kaxiu took a quick look and then walked out with an umbrella.

The rain outside was not heavy, but it was like silver-grey sticky spider silk, and the sky was dark, like the old tiles peeling off the roof. It gave people an inexplicable irritable and dull atmosphere.

The rain fell on the umbrella with almost no sound. Kaxiu turned four or five corners along the street and finally stopped in a secluded alley. There was already a man waiting for him with an umbrella.

"Come?" The brim of the umbrella was slightly raised, and a bearded face looked over, with thick glasses on the bridge of his nose.

"I'm here. Have you brought the things?" Kaxiu went straight to the point.

"I have it. Where's the money?" The man reached into his arms and quickly pulled out a newly made brown fake ID.

"This is the remaining half." Kaxiu took out a few large-denomination bills from his pocket, and the two quickly exchanged them.

"Take a look and see if it meets your requirements." The bearded man flicked the banknote and observed the anti-counterfeiting certificate on it.

After a few minutes, Kaxiu nodded with satisfaction.

“It’s been a pleasure working with you.”

“It’s been a pleasure working with you.”

The two shook hands, then turned around and left.

Sure enough, professionals work fast. As Kaxiu walked forward along the alley, he took out his ID card from his pocket again. The surface was a brown leather jacket with a few large words on it, and inside were a total of five yellow tough paper pages.

There is a faint smell of fresh ink.

On the first page, there was a familiar name printed: Levi.

Kaxiu closed the certificate and put it back in. There was water on the road, so he walked to the sidewalk next to it. The black street light on the right had already started working, emitting a gentle yellow light.

There were few pedestrians on this road, only a wet wild cat hiding under the eaves, shouting and shivering from time to time.

“It’s so quiet.”

Kaxiu had been in a heavy mood, but now he felt a little relieved.

He didn't notice that, at some point, the shadow that had been projected on the left wall began to wriggle little by little, the black vortex was like a blinking eye.

A weird and terrifying atmosphere gradually spread.

The shadow that had been moving in sync with Kaxiu began to stutter, as if it couldn't keep up with the pace. Until it turned a corner without street lights, Kaxiu's shadow disappeared.

Instead, there was a figure following behind him.

The figure raised his head, and it was a face exactly like Kasu's, even the clothes and umbrella were exactly the same.

The shadow is alive! It is a replica of another Kaxiu!

The sky was dark, and on the dim road, two figures dressed identically, one in front and one behind, walked at the same pace.

The light from the street lamps could not even illuminate their shadows.

Suddenly, the figure behind him trembled, as if he had released the imitation of his original body, and rushed forward at an accelerated speed. The face that looked like Kashu had a hideous expression, like a demon.

"!" Kaxiu in front only noticed at this time that someone was running quickly from behind. He turned around and punched with his speed burst skill.

Boom!

The punch hit the shadow man's face, causing waves of flesh to appear on his cheeks and his mouth to compress violently. A mixture of saliva and blood flew out, along with three or four teeth.

The shadow man spun and flew out, then fell to the ground with a groan. A large amount of water splashed into the puddle beside the sidewalk.

"Ah!!!" He groaned in pain on the ground. "How can your strength be so much greater!? We are obviously the same!"

"What?" Kaxiu threw away his umbrella and rushed over.

He grabbed the person on the ground and lifted him up.

The two stood up straight and saw each other.

"Impossible!!!" ×2

They said it in unison, with disbelief in their eyes.

Kaxiu's heart skipped a beat, because the person standing in front of him was a person who looked exactly like him. Whether it was his appearance, demeanor, or even his body shape, he was like his former self!

On the other side, the shadow man also started to shudder.

Because he discovered a serious problem! The original owner of the body opposite him was half a head taller than him, more than one size bigger, and the trapezius muscle next to his neck was quite obvious.

Just by looking at the overall shape you can feel that underneath the shirt is a muscular body, the physique of a regular fitness person.

"Did I not copy it completely?!"

The shrunken version of Kaxiu swallowed the blood in his mouth. Under the gaze of the real owner, he unconsciously took a few steps back.
