In this era, Hu monks are indeed not uncommon. Because Buddhism originally came from the Western Regions, monks from Tianzhu, Anxi, Kangju, and Dayuezhi all came from afar to preach the scriptures and teach the Dharma. But Buddhism is not yet prosperous, and there are many Hu people among the disciples of those masters. Therefore, it is not surprising that a Hu monk appeared.
But the strange thing is that this man was brought by the monks of Huai'en Temple. Could it be that the reason for asking to see him today is for this person
Speculation flashed in his stomach, Liang Feng asked the two of them to sit down and serve tea as usual, and then said: "I never missed Master Falun's visit today, and the host and I may not have seen each other for a long time. We should have come to visit."
The people in the sedan chair carried people, and the governor of a state said this, which really gave Wynn Temple enough face. Reciting the law together, he said: "When the envoy came to Jinyang for the first time, there must be a lot of official business to be dealt with. It was the monk who took the liberty to do so. However, there is indeed an important matter today, which needs to be explained to the envoy."
As he spoke, he turned slightly and introduced, "This is Master Zhu Fada, the direct disciple of Zen Master Zhu Fahu. He just came from Chang'an."
Zhu Fahu? ! Now that he has played the banner of Buddha, Liang Feng will not know anything about Buddhism at this time. This Zen Master Zhu Fahu was the most famous monk in the Jin Dynasty. His ancestral home is Lunzhi, he lived in Dunhuang, and he was a teacher of eminent Indian monks. In order to study and spread the Dharma, he traveled around the countries in the Western Regions with his teacher, and became proficient in more than 30 languages. Later, he settled in Chang'an and translated scriptures. It can be said that before Kumarajiva, he was the greatest translator. How could such a disciple of an eminent monk come to Jinyang
Liang Feng's face showed a slight surprise: "I never thought that it was under the sect of the eminent monk, disrespectful and disrespectful! It's just that I heard that Master Zhu Fahu was teaching the Dharma in Chang'an. How could Master Zhu Fada come to Jinyang?"
The monk clasped his hands together and proclaimed the Buddha's name: "What the envoy asked is the reason why the monk came. Within half a year of Chang'an, it was destroyed several times by rebels, and the monastery dedicated to the family teacher was also devastated by the army, so I wanted to leave Chang'an. , look elsewhere."
Although he is a Hu, the monk's accent is quite authentic. He speaks Luoyang Mandarin without even the slightest Guanzhong accent. However, the meaning of this is not so simple. It is clear that these monks want to move to Jinyang! Is it because of his name as a Buddhist
As expected, the monk Hu just paused, and seeing that Liang Feng did not answer, he continued: "The teacher's intention was to return to his hometown of Dunhuang, where he continued to translate scriptures and teach the Dharma. But the monk thought that leaving China would be a loss after all. I don’t know how many years it will take to return to this mess. It’s better to change the city and keep this spark. I don’t know if the envoy can take in Xiao Seng and others?”
Liang Feng pretended to ponder for a moment, then Fang said, "How many entourages does the Zen master have?"
"Less than a thousand." Zhu Fada replied lightly.
A thousand people! And a thousand Buddhist believers! This power is enough to change the religious beliefs of Jinyang and even the whole territory of Bingzhou, especially with the support of his governor.
Meifeng frowned slightly, and Liang Feng sighed: "I never imagined that there would be so many people. Jinyang was surrounded for a year, and there were also Huns who were eyeing them. I'm afraid it is not suitable to settle down."
Zhu Fada seemed to have guessed what Liang Fengfeng said, and smiled slightly: "Your Majesty may feel that Xiao Seng and others are burdensome, but if Hu and Han live together in Bingzhou, you may not be able to transform Hu Hu with Buddhism."
Liang Feng's eyes sharpened immediately. The meaning of this monk is too clear, he is going to use the great banner of Buddhism to move the Huns! Under Liu Yuan's command, there were countless miscellaneous beards. The status of these people is not high, they are the servants and slaves of the Huns. After Liu Yuan established the country and launched the battle for the deer, they also became cannon fodder rushing to the front.
He also lived in Bingzhou for 30, 50, or even 100 years, and he was assimilated by the Han people long ago. Why did he still fight for the benefit of the Xiongnu? There are probably not many who think so.
And if using Buddhism, even Zhu Fada personally came forward to contact these tribes, the possibility of them returning to Jin State would not be small. And when these people at the bottom fled, the foundation of the Xiongnu and Han kingdoms was shaken, and it became a pipe dream to occupy Bingzhou.
This is a way of pulling money from the bottom of the pot. And Liang Feng, unlike other Jin officials, maintained an attitude of discriminating against the Hu people, even enslaving and suppressing them. If it was the same as Liang Xi of the year, the chieftains of these people were removed, they were incorporated into the people, and the customs of the Han people were enforced. Maybe ten or twenty years later, they will be like the Han people around them, and they will have the same customs and customs, and they will wipe out everyone.
Liang Feng tried this method on Yiyan's group of Jie people, and the effect was not bad. This cultural advantage is not necessarily weak when used on other races.
If this monk in front of him can really do what he said, the state pattern will even change. But on the contrary, what if he attracted those Hu people and used religion as a prop for his use
Liang Feng's complexion sank: "What the Master said may be feasible. But what if there is a matter of Xuzhou Zherong?"
Those who can be familiar with Chinese language and preach the scriptures will of course understand the past history. Zhe Rong is a counter-example that can be engraved in history.
Zhe Rong was a figure in the Three Kingdoms period at the end of the Han Dynasty. When the Yellow Turban Rebellion broke out, he brought hundreds of villagers to seek refuge in Xuzhou Mu Taoqian. Tao Qian admired his talent and at the same time had a favorable impression of Buddhism, so he entrusted Zherong with the duties of taxation and transportation in Guangling, Xiapi, and Pengcheng. Unexpectedly, this son actually built a Buddhist temple in Xiapi, repaired a Buddhist pagoda, and held a grand Buddha bathing meeting. Buddha statues were painted with gold, thousands of people chanted sutras, and feasts stretched for dozens of miles for everyone to enjoy. Even in order to admit more Buddhists and exempt believers from corvée taxes, Xiapi and even Xuzhou have flourished in Buddhism.
But such a person is also a very cruel murderer. After being hated by people in Xuzhou and fleeing in a hurry, he successively killed the prefects of Guangling and Yuzhang who had taken him in, seized their towns, and continued to spread the word on Buddhist affairs. In the end, he was defeated by Liu Yao, the prefect of Yangzhou, and was killed by the mountain people.
Such an extremely contradictory guy has left an indelible mark in history. It can be said that the methods of courtesy towards Buddhism in later generations all came from him. Is he a Buddhist? No one will deny it. But believers are not necessarily good people. The same thing is even more vividly displayed by Zhang Jiao, the founder of Taiping Road. If the ambition is too large, religion will not only fail to act as a restraint, but will catalyze people to become demons, control their followers, and seek greater interests.
These words are a bit harsh, but Zhu Fada's face did not change his expression: "Xiao Seng and others came to join the envoy, precisely because of the envoy's Buddha's name. The "Diamond Sutra" dream book is elegant and wonderful, and should be widely spread. If there is no envoy's name , I am afraid that even a little monk will not be able to convince all the Hus."
This is an indirect recognition of Liang Feng's status as a Buddhist son. It's not over with the endorsement of Huai'en Temple. Are the disciples of Zhu Fahu also on his side this time? However, this layer of deified identity can also become the power of their Buddhists. Even the more powerful Liang Feng's power is, the more beneficial it is for them to develop their religion.
Just like the branches and vines of a big tree, they can take root without knowing it, take nutrients, and grow stronger.
This is a good way, if it is for true believers or careerists in this era. But Liang Feng is not either of the two.
Liang Feng tapped his finger on the table twice, and finally Liang Feng said, "Buddhism is good, but in my opinion, monks should not enter the world. Only by being ordained and ordained can one get close to Buddhism. And real monks shouldn't either. It is enough to shave. Only by knowing the sutras and Dharma can you become a monk. If you don’t have the determination to give up your external things, how can you achieve the Buddhadharma?”
The topic changed direction inexplicably, seemingly casual, but Zhu Fada's eyebrows twitched slightly. Does this mean that the prefect of Bingzhou is ready to supervise Buddhist temples and monks? The reason why Buddhism has grown is precisely because of its simple method, which enables many people to devote themselves to Buddhism and avoid the torture of military service and taxes. But if you get the qualifications to be a monk, you have to check them one by one by the court and register them in the same book as your household registration? Abandoning foreign objects is even more fatal. Could it be that if you are a monk, you cannot enter officialdom, occupy land, or cross the golden body
Druffalda is an ambitious guy. He is not like his master and brother, who is devoted to teaching scriptures. Compared with scriptures and teachings, he hopes that Buddhism will get a strong upper-level support, just like Taoism, because mystical discussions have become popular. But if you want to achieve such a goal, it is absolutely impossible to be alone. Then, he has to find a reliable supporter, a person who is passionate about Dharma and has great achievements.
Logically speaking, he should choose Liu Yuan. The Xiongnu were originally Hu people, and most of them liked Buddhism. But can Han really take over the world? Even if he is also a Hu, Zhu Fada doesn't think so. This Central Plains, this great country, will eventually return to its own hands. Just like Daqin, like Dahan, just like today's Dajin, the fire is passed down from generation to generation. And temporarily relying on the first-rank Hu Lord, maybe even the Buddhist Dharma will disappear completely after the short-lived dynasty is overthrown.
And this newly appointed governor of Bingzhou is by no means a talent in a single state. When he saw the grand scene of the crowd, he made up his mind. This Liang Zixi is someone who can be effective and who can certainly carry forward the Dharma.
However, when all the things at hand were put out, the other party still had no intention of moving. On the contrary, the lines are drawn directly and the boundaries are given. From, or not from
In just a moment, Zhu Fada came to the conclusion: "What the envoy said is very true. After all, Dajin is not a Buddhist country, and Bingzhou cannot accommodate a Buddhist country."
The three words "non-Buddhist country" mean everything. Buddhism is not an aggressive religion. Any country that believes in Buddhism will eventually be completely destroyed under the iron hoofs of the invaders. That was the case with the mighty Kushuang Empire back then. The legal system of the Jin Dynasty was Confucianism. The geography of Bingzhou made it even more impossible for Liang Feng to put down his sword. To fight, to pay taxes, to need manpower, all these means that the "Buddhist country" model cannot exist. He let the monks come into the world, just to let the people join the world. This can only be achieved by controlling access conditions.
This is a method of drawing wages from the bottom of the pot, and it is also a method that can control the congregation without making it too large. This means means restrictions, but at the same time, it also represents the approval of officials. And this is what Zhu Fada needs. He never expects it to happen overnight.
Unexpectedly, this monk Hu said a word to the point. A smile appeared on Liang Feng's face: "The Master is well-versed, and he is worthy of being a disciple of an eminent monk. If what the Master said is true, I will welcome those who have attained the Tao to pray for disaster relief for the people of Jinyang."
This is the second condition. First, we should achieve the naturalization of Zhu Hu, and then talk about other follow-up. How could Zhu Fada not understand what Liang Feng meant, and put his hands together: "Make the king benevolent, and the little monk should do his best."
Talking to smart people has this advantage. After all that was said, Zhu Fada got up and said goodbye without delay. Nianfa followed and stood up, but before he moved, he heard Liang Feng say: "Master Nianfa, please stay, I have something to say, and I want to pass it on to the host."
This is not what Zhu Fada can listen to. He obediently exited the study first. Nian Fa bowed and said, "Dare to ask the envoy what instructions?"
Liang Feng smiled slightly: "I just want to ask the host, if Zen Master Zhu Fahu arrives in Jinyang, where will he live?"
There was also a smile on the face of reading the law: "this is what the teacher has ordered a long time ago, so he lives in the Huai'en Temple."
This sentence reveals enough information. What is the status of the old monk, and what is the status of Zhu Fahu? If such a powerful person came to Jinyang, the pressure on Huai'en Temple would not be small. In particular, Huai'en Temple cultivates Mahayana, and Zhu Fahu is the translator with the most translations of Mahayana Buddhism. In this case, how to deal with the primary and secondary relationship
Who would have guessed that the old monks not only acted as brokers for monks, but also let them live in Huai'en Temple, so they are not afraid of encountering the dove occupying the magpie's nest
And the answer of reading the law is exactly the attitude of the old monk. He is not afraid.
It can even be said that the old monk wants to find a more favorable position in this general trend. A plan that can annex and digest the thousand followers, and even incorporate Zhu Fahu into the Huai'en Temple system.
And this answer shows that the two gangs of monks are not of one mind.
This is the answer Liang Feng needs most. If the two are of one mind, then he will worry about whether the religious power is too great. And if there is still intrigue between the two, then as the mediator in the middle, who is also the "Buddha son" that both agree with, Liang Feng's control will also increase and achieve a real check and balance.
No wonder the old monk made so much effort to make him famous in Jinyang, no wonder that on the first day of taking over as the prefect, Zhu Fada was attracted to read the law to lead them. This is not because the Wynn Temple is increasing its investment and expressing its loyalty. If you don't ask, the other party may have to give a hint to reassure yourself.
In fact, Liang Feng is not afraid of ambitious people. As long as this ambition appears in a rational way, he can always find a controllable way. And the monks he faced all had an exquisite heart.
With a slight smile, Liang Feng nodded: "Then there will be Lao to preside over, and I will come to the door to listen to the Fa again when I have some free time."
Nianfa thanked him again and respectfully withdrew.
On the side, Duan Qin sighed: "Master really wants to use Buddha?"
This is indeed a big change in his position. When the banner is really played, it is not just the current situation of borrowing the name of the son of Buddha.
"You can use Buddhism, Taoism, or Confucianism. As long as the three are used in the right place." Liang Feng thought clearly, this world is still in the uncivilized stage, even the great Confucian who is full of poetry and books will only know Look at everything in the world with the Confucian worldview. What is the difference between Heaven and Man and Buddha Laojun? This is true of Confucian scholars, let alone those Qianshou people who do not know the characters.
This world is not a world that can pay attention to science and truth. On the contrary, religion is the eternal theme. So controlling religion is better than letting it grow savagely. As long as religion is integrated into a part of education, it can also bring peace to the people.
This is like the religious office of later generations. On the surface, all religions are equal and free, but in essence, it is controlled by the government. In fact, it is not the same in ancient times. The situation in China is too special. No religion born in the world can compare with the vitality of Confucianism that entered the world. Discussing what world outlook and methodology, in the end, depends on who has the tougher fists and more means, or, in other words, adapts to social development.
Even if Duan Qin heard such a statement, his heart trembled. But I have to say that such calmness and sharpness are better than gullibility.
"It would be a good thing if that monk Hu could really move the Hus under the Huns." In the end, Duan Qin said in a low voice.
you do not say. At any time, disintegrating the enemy's power and expanding one's own power is a good thing to be thankful for. After a day's work, Liang Feng rubbed his forehead wearily: "I just hope that Zhu Fada has the abilities of Su Qin and Zhang Yi."
Seeing Liang Feng's pale face, Duan Qin couldn't help but feel a little worried: "My lord is tired and laborious all the way, don't hurt your body again. It's better to rest as soon as possible. Do you want to recruit Jiang Jien to come?"
Liang Feng was silent for a moment, then shook his head: "No need for Ji En, let's call... Bo Yuan to come."
Asking Yiyan to enter, nine times out of ten, it is still business. But how could Duan Qin let Liang Feng let it go? With a sigh, he quietly backed out.
