"Mr. Charles, will our island sink too?"
Hearing Lily's question, Charles didn't say anything. He touched her furry head with his hand, pushed open the door of the Bat Hotel and walked towards his room.
Obviously, he couldn't answer this question. This place itself was illogical. Humans couldn't even survive if they wanted to. If they wanted to live with dignity, they had to find an entrance to the surface. As long as they found the entrance to the surface, all problems would be solved.
Charles sat on the soft sofa, his tense spirit completely relaxed, and he fell into a deep sleep under the warmth of the fire.
After an unknown amount of time, Charles was awakened by a nightmare.
He found that Linda was standing beside him waiting for him. He looked at his pocket watch and saw that four hours had passed.
"Mr. Charles, this sister came two hours ago. I wanted to wake you up, but she didn't let me." said Lily, who was standing by the window looking out.
Charles put away his pocket watch and asked the woman next to him, "How is it? Is Ke De back?"
Linda shook her head. “The clergyman did not return to the branch church.”
There was a hint of disappointment on Charles' face, but this was within his expectations. The next period of time would be another damn wait, and he hated waiting.
"Does Salin have any relatives?" Charles asked Linda again. They were all in the same boat, so he would try his best to help if he could.
"Yes, I am his wife." Linda's calm words were really surprising.
"You are his wife? Then how come you don't look sad when I see he died?" Charles was a little suspicious.
Linda spoke calmly, as if she was talking about someone else's affairs. "Why are you sad? The partners of the Illuminati are all paired together. I don't have any feelings for him, and he feels the same way about me."
Charles looked at the bald woman in front of him carefully and said, "Then go back. If Ke De comes back, remember to tell me the first time."
Linda nodded, turned and left without saying anything.
Charles spent the rest of the time waiting anxiously. This time he tried to use painting to relieve his anxiety, but the effect was not very good.
He already had the nautical chart but had to wait for others, which was undoubtedly a torment. If the doctor had not told him that his mental pollution needed to be relieved on shore, he would even want to abandon Ke De and drive the boat there himself.
But soon the arrival of a person slightly eased his anxiety.
Charles, lying naked on the bed, exhaled slowly. He rubbed his temple with his hand and asked, "Didn't you go to form a capture fleet? Why are you back?"
Elizabeth, with a blushing face, crawled out from the quilt, crawled on Charles' chest, and listened to the rapidly beating heart inside with a smile on her face.
""There's something going on on that island."
"Has 1002 not been resolved yet?"
Elizabeth's long hair swayed against Charles' chest as she shook her head.
"Yes, that thing is very difficult to deal with. It can explode, use strong acid, and freeze. Even if it is destroyed to the size of a fingernail, it will heal quickly. My people doubt whether it can be considered a living thing."
Charles recalled the monster that could animate everything in his mind. It was indeed a very difficult thing to deal with, but he did not expect that several months had passed and it had not been dealt with yet.
"So, the island is useless?"
"No, the Gaunt family from the West Sea recently found me and said they could deal with this thing."
"Well, the Gaunt family is a famous wizard family in the Western Sea. I heard that their patriarch can even easily modify a person's soul, including memory, consciousness and cognition."
"I'm afraid not. No matter how powerful he is, he can't even touch 1002's body. How can he modify it? Besides, it's hard to say whether that thing has a soul or not."
"I don't know how they'll do it, but their people told me that they'll definitely solve 1002. But they want 20% of the island's land as a reward. What do you think of this?"
"Why are you asking me about this? You can make your own decision on your island."
Elizabeth looked at him lovingly with her deep blue eyes. "Have you forgotten? I told you that you own half of the island. Of course I have to discuss this important matter with you."
"I don't care. It's all up to you." For Charles, he really didn't care about the island at all.
"That's good. I'll go and agree to it later."
At this moment, Charles suddenly sat up alertly and looked at Elizabeth in front of him, "Could it be that he has modified your memory?"
Ever since his memory was modified by Anna, he has been extremely vigilant in this regard.
"Don't worry, they won't. Although they did control several governors before, when others recovered, the Gaunt family was retaliated against badly. They don't want this experience to happen again in the North Sea. And many people are watching him."
Elizabeth's slender white fingers slowly slid across the hideous scars on Charles' chest, and she said faintly, "My dear, you have more scars on your body."
"Just some minor injuries, accidentally touched by something in the water." Charles sat up in bed and started to put on his clothes.
Two white arms passed over his shoulders and gently embraced Charles' neck.
"Charles, can't you really consider it? As long as Gaunt's people can deal with 1002, the island will be ours. Our new home will be built soon, and then the whole island will be ours."
Charles gently took her arms away and continued to put on his shirt. "I still have my own things to do. When I'm done, if you're still willing to follow me, you can go with me."
Looking at the broad figure in front of her, Elizabeth had a hint of sadness in her eyes. Could it be that the legendary land of light is really more important than the living island
Charles stood by the window and watched Elizabeth leave accompanied by a group of people.
Although Elizabeth has not yet become governor, her temperament as a superior has already been revealed.
At this moment, she no longer had the gentleness she had just shown, and her delicate face was full of confidence and determination. The captain of the Black Rose was back again.
"Click~" The door behind Charles opened by itself, and Lily ran in with a group of mice.
Charles quickly scanned the room and found nothing unusual, then walked towards his gunner. "Why are you back so soon? Didn't you go out to play?"
Lily climbed up Charles' trouser legs and onto his shoulders. The white mouse's face looked a little hesitant. "Mr. Charles, can I discuss something with you?"
"What's wrong?" Charles reached out and grabbed the furry white mouse in his hand.
"Don't the other crew members get paid? Then as a gunner, I should get paid too, right?"
