Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 163: Rift Air Combat

Views:

Such a huge rock hitting the ground was no less than an earthquake. Many of the thatched huts collapsed. Some of the guys exposed to the sun fell to the ground and hibernated forever if they ran a little slower.

Charles looked up and vaguely saw a familiar pseudo-star shining above the dome.

As the stars went out, another huge rock fell.

Charles quickly flew into the air and shouted loudly: "Everyone follow me!! The guys above already know that we are going to attack them! They are very smart, we must stop them as soon as possible!!"

After Charles finished speaking, he flapped his wings and flew quickly upwards.

Soon, other airships and helicopters followed.

As the distance got closer, Charles soon saw the appearance of the pseudo star. The shining star was actually hanging upside down on the top, with the constantly shining glowing abdomens of the mantises forming a flower shape.

As the light grew faster and faster, the light on the mantises' abdomens suddenly dimmed, and a huge rock above them fell towards the island below with a roar.

When Charles saw the scattered mantises gather together again and try to land on the rocks, how could he let them do so again

A giant bat flew below them, opened its ferocious mouth and let out a shrill scream.

The sound interrupted the mantises' actions. The mantises gathered together and quickly covered their abdominal organs with their shells, showing their sharp sickle blades and pounced towards Charles below.

Charles quickly stopped talking and retreated, but the mantises were faster than him. When they were about to catch up, several barrages of bullets swept over from the lower section.

"Da da da da!!" The muzzle of the helicopter kept spewing flames, trying to aim the bullets at the mantis.

Although the mantises were agile, several of them were still hit by bullets. The power of a miniature machine gun is far superior to that of a revolver. Wherever it swept, there was a mess of blood and flesh.

With a "swish" sound, Charles' sharp fangs quickly cut off the head of the last mantis.

"Go on." Charles, hanging upside down on the dome, waved his wings towards the gap in the sunlight, and the airships and helicopters changed direction and flew towards that direction.

The mantises obviously would not sit there and wait for death. They crawled out from the cracks like wasps in a hive and pounced on the enemies outside.

When the mantises broke through the blockade of machine gun bullets, the first air battle in the Earth Sea broke out over the Island of Hope.

Bullets fired from a helicopter were tearing the mantis's shell apart crazily, and suddenly a dark shadow appeared behind it.

With a flash of cold light, the steel machine was easily torn in half like thin paper.

The mantis, which had successfully carried out the sneak attack, didn't even have time to pause before a solid bullet shot out from the barrel of the airship next to it, robbing it of most of its flesh and blood.

This scene was happening everywhere in the sky, and injured and dead creatures fell to the ground like rain.

Gunshots, screams, cannon fire, and shrieks all blended together. This was an extremely brutal war between races.

However, in the final battle of numbers, humans still had a slight advantage, and the number of mantises coming out of the gaps began to decrease.

Charles, with ecstasy on his face, led the rest of the people and rushed towards the gap.

As soon as they reached the bottom of the crack, the bright light above suddenly dimmed.

As soon as Charles raised his head, a rock as big as a house hit him hard and carried him down to the water below.

Charles endured the severe pain in his body and pushed the boulder with all his strength using his sharp claws. He finally got rid of the potential energy of the stone and returned to the air.

But the others were not so lucky. Wood, metal and screaming humans fell into the water along with the falling rocks.

Charles grabbed one of them with his hind paws and hid to the side.

When he came to the dome again, Charles looked down and found that the guy's head was half deflated and he was already dead.

Faced with this kind of rockfall attack, neither airships nor helicopters have a good solution.

The mantis was above them and they were below, plus the sunlight was so strong above that guns and machine guns could not attack at all.

Charles carefully crawled to the edge of the crack, stuck his head out, and looked upward through the thick brown glass.

In the 40-meter-diameter tunnel, hundreds of mantises formed a large circle. It was very difficult to attack from below.

And this situation cannot be delayed. The airship is fine, but the helicopter needs fuel.

"Wait for me, as soon as the explosion sounds, rush up. Do you understand?" Charles, who was hanging upside down, said to others with several barrels of explosives in his hands.

Seeing everyone on the boat nodding at him, Charles held the barrel of explosives and matches in his mouth and climbed upside down towards the crack above.

After stopping at the edge of the gap and taking a deep breath, Charles counted to himself, "three, two, one". Suddenly, all the muscles in his body were mobilized quickly, and he struggled to climb up along the edge of the gap.

The mantises obviously noticed Charles, and rocks of all sizes kept falling from above.

Charles jumped quickly and flexibly on the cliff, trying to avoid it.

It is easier to hide below, but it becomes harder as you go higher.

With a bang, a rock as big as a square table fell along the cliff and hit Charles' right shoulder hard.

"Crack" a piercing pain came, and Charles could hardly lift his right paw.

"No one! No one can stop me from returning to the surface!!"

Looking at the mantises more than ten meters above, Charles struck the wall with a match, lit the gunpowder, pushed hard on the rock wall with both feet, and pounced upwards.

Just as all kinds of rocks were falling on him, Charles grabbed the gunpowder with his right hand and threw it upward with all his strength.

Just as Charles followed the falling rocks and fell out of the gap, a deafening explosion sounded from above.

Charles, with almost half of his bones broken, grabbed a flying airship that was rushing upward with one hand.

Facing the believer who came over and tried to support him, Charles opened his mouth wide, bit his neck and sucked hard.

With the addition of blood, his body healed rapidly.

Releasing the believer with a blank face, Charles said to the four people in front of him: "I need one more."

The four of them looked at each other for a few seconds, and the believer in the worst condition stepped forward.

When Charles returned to normal and flew up to the rift again, he saw that the mantis had been defeated.

Without the advantage of terrain, they were quickly wiped out by humans due to their small numbers.

When Charles looked at the blurry blue at the top, a terrifying smile appeared on his black-haired face.

But soon the smile on his face disappeared, and the blue was being blocked by a living creature.

As the light was slowly blocked, the people on the helicopter opened their eyes wide, and some of them even trembled all over.
