Chapter 179: Hope Island

Views:

"Travel through May 4, 2012

I was actually crazy for three years, and I only learned about this from other people. Why didn't Anna tell me? Or was it her bad taste, and she wanted me to find out for myself?"

"For such a long time, my crew members have been waiting for me. But a lot of things can happen in three years. I am a little unsure. How is Hope Island now?"

"As for the clues in New Territories City, I am not as anxious as before. It would be great if there are clues, but if there are no clues, I will go to Earthsea to look for them as before. I suddenly found that the experiences of the past three years have changed my personality. I am no longer as impatient as before."

Charles put down the pen in his hand, waited for the ink to dry, and closed the brown-covered diary.

He took out his pocket watch, looked at it, opened the door and walked towards the passenger ship's restaurant.

The restaurant of this cargo ship is on the top floor. Charles just sat down when a waiter in a straight suit came over with a menu. Charles's one arm made him stunned, but he quickly adjusted his attitude and handed over the menu. "Sir, what would you like to order?"

Charles took the menu, looked at it carefully, and tapped on it with his finger.

"Lamb stew with blackberries, beetroot soup, cream of chicken royale. And finally, the Hofang Island pudding."

"Okay, sir, please wait a moment." The waiter retreated with the menu.

Charles pinned the white napkin around his neck and waited patiently.

This kind of scene was the first time for him. He always ate in a hurry before, and coming to such a place would only be a waste of time for him.

He looked at the crowd around him, watching the customers talking and laughing, and Charles had never felt so real.

The aroma of delicious food wafted into his nose, and Charles swallowed as he thought about the dishes he had just chosen.

Soon, the food was served. The mutton had no mutton smell at all. It was very chewy. The sweet butter chicken also tasted great.

After the meal, Charles felt very comfortable and suddenly felt that he should come here more often in the future.

The meal took more than an hour. Having satisfied his appetite, Charles slowly walked towards the deck.

There were a lot of people on the deck, and everyone had excitement on their face. From what they said, we learned that most of them were here for the first time, and they came to the deck just to see the magical light of Hope Island.

As Charles stood there, a young man's curious voice came from the side.

"Rum, I heard that Hope Island is very bright. Does that mean we don't need to buy oil lamps or candles in the future? If that's the case, I'm afraid we can save a lot of money."

"What's the point of saving that little money? You miser, Hope Island is a place full of hope. You must do great things when you go there."

"Do something big? Engels, what are you going to do?"

"I plan to go farming. The land over there is very fertile. They must need people like me. I am very good at farming."

Charles turned his head to look at them and found that they were several young people in their twenties. Judging from the patched clothes on their bodies, they were obviously not well off.

"So this is the big deal you're talking about? I thought you were going to join the exploration ship like Governor Hope did."

"I'm not crazy. How could I do something stupid like that? I'm only 25. I haven't lived enough."

"Stop talking and look at that."

Looking at the red light flashing in the distance, even Charles, who had seen it once, was a little excited, not to mention those who saw these scenes for the first time.

When Hope Island bathed in the sun appeared in front of everyone, the deck suddenly became quiet. The island was so beautiful.

, the thatched huts of three years ago have disappeared, and eaves corridors of various colors are now spread all over the island.

As for architectural features, there are many more beautiful ones in the entire sea, but no matter how beautiful the buildings are, they are all dark in color.

But in the bright sunshine, even an ordinary shabby house looks so beautiful.

This land and sea has unknowingly begun to distort human aesthetics, and anything that is bright is considered beautiful.

It was not until their passenger ship entered the port that everyone recovered and started to discuss excitedly with each other.

As the others got off the boat, Charles saw a huge sign hanging next to it.

There was a line of words clearly written on it in Earthsea language. (Hope Island Taboo: Do not stay in the sun for more than 5 seconds. Anyone who stays in the sun for more than 5 seconds will die.)

Charles smiled. He didn't know who wrote this sign. If there had been such a sign hanging here when he first came here, Kede might not have died.

Following other passengers along the corridor, he just came out of the pier and found that everything around him had changed more than he had imagined.

After three years, the previously simple roof has disappeared and three or four-story buildings have been erected.

As expected, there were many entertainment venues near the dock, such as bars and brothels, but the security was much better than other port areas. At least Charles didn't see any homeless children or beggars running around.

"Banana farm recruiting! Anyone who knows how to farm? Food and lodging provided, and good pay."

"Me! I can farm!" The young man standing next to Charles rushed towards the recruitment stall excitedly.

"Is there anyone who is not afraid of death? I hope the island navy is recruiting people. As long as you dare to fight, owning a house in the center of the island is no longer a dream!!"

"Is there anyone who can read and count? I'm short of one in my shop."

Seeing that there were still people being recruited, the people next to Charles quickly rushed forward. They came here to pursue their dreams.

Charles walked past them and headed towards the center of the island.

A huge and bustling square, neat residential areas, a busy commercial street, and various buildings appeared before him.

If it was just a prototype before, it is now a completely prosperous island.

After walking for about half an hour, a magnificent building like a palace appeared in front of Charles. It was the Governor's Palace.

"No matter how much money you have, there's no need to spend it like this, right?" Charles walked towards the gate, but as he got closer to the gate, the two soldiers standing guard immediately raised their rifles and pointed them at his head. "How dare you break into the Governor's Mansion? Do you want to live?"

Charles was about to explain when a trembling voice sounded from behind him. "Captain?"

Charles turned around and saw the man, "Dipper, long time no see, you seem to have grown taller."

"Captain! It's really you!!" Dipper rushed up excitedly, crying and laughing.
