Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 180: Crew members

Views:

The first mate is Bandage, the second mate is Krona, the boatswain is Dipper, the chief engineer is James, the gunner is Lily, the cook is Frey, the sailor is Audrick, the sailor is Linda, the ship's doctor is Lasto, and finally the captain is Charles.

The crew of the Narwhal assembled again in the meeting hall of the Governor's Palace on Hope Island.

Charles, smiling, looked at the crew members who had changed drastically before him.

Dipper was taller now, and had grown from a young boy to a strong young man. In his black uniform, he even looked a little handsome.

The simplicity disappeared from James' face, and two shallow lines gave him a sense of majesty.

The doctor was older, with sporadic age spots appearing on his scarred face.

Knona has gained some weight and has a new chin.

If there are any things that haven't changed much, it's the bandages, Lily, and the vampire Audric.

"Mr. Charles, where have you been for these three years? I missed you so much." Lily jumped in front of Charles and asked with her head raised.

Charles didn't answer directly. Instead, he touched its bright yellow hair and asked, "Why is it dyed like this?"

"It looks good like this. I can dye it into other colors. White doesn't look good." Lily rubbed Charles' palm with her furry head.

Charles turned his head to look at the Bandage who was standing beside him without any emotion. He knew that there was no trouble on Hope Island and it all depended on this silent companion.

Such a living island is a huge piece of fat meat in the sea. If no one had stopped it, the island would have been lost to others long ago.

"Thank you for the past three years."

"Nothing... It's the rules at sea... When the captain... is not here... the first mate automatically takes over... all the captain's duties..." Bandage said slowly.

Charles reached out his hand without saying anything else, and the bandaged right hand reached out and slapped it hard. Everything was said without words.

Just as James was about to speak, Leonardo, who was standing beside him, said with a hint of flattery on his face:

"Captain, you finally came back. I guess the people on the island don't recognize you. I suggest holding a banquet first to announce your return. What do you think?"

Charles looked at the Minister of Finance of Hope Island in front of him with some surprise.

I didn't expect that the little liar at the beginning would be so qualified for the position of Minister of Finance. "All right, I'll do as you say."

Leonardo tactfully took a step back and did not join in the reminiscing of others. He knew that compared to these crew members who had lived and died with the captain, no matter how hard he tried, he would always be an outsider.

If you want to gain the governor's trust, you have to take it step by step.

Just as the other crew members were chatting with Charles and reminiscing about the past, a burst of rapid knocking sounds interrupted the harmonious atmosphere in the meeting room. It was the sound of the steel prosthesis hitting the wooden table.

"Hey, hey, hey, you guys can talk about anything else later if you want to reminisce about the past, but first deal with my issues."

The person who spoke was the ship's doctor, Rasto. His temper was as bad as ever, and there was no joy on his face for Charles' return.

The old man took something out of his arms and slid it towards Charles along the smooth table surface.

When Charles picked up the thing, his face suddenly showed some emotion. It was his cell phone, and it was fully charged.

He swiped his finger across the screen and the animation screen saver opened. Charles was stunned for a moment when he saw the six decoded spaces on it. After 12 years, he suddenly forgot the unlocking password.

"Don't think about it, it's 588134, it's in your diary," the doctor said with a hint of disgust.

Glancing at him, Charles entered the password, and a familiar yet unfamiliar interface appeared in front of him.

He opened the first clip, which was recorded casually in a mobile phone store when he bought a new mobile phone. The store was very noisy, and the camera flashed by. Charles saw his immature self in the mirror.

A smile appeared on Charles' face. "I didn't expect you to actually rush in and electrocute him. How did you do it?"

"Professor Smith from England helped me a lot. Electricity is a small matter, but your black mirror number is a big problem. It took me more than two years to find it."

"Thank you." Charles casually clicked on the Tom and Jerry video and handed it to Lily, then looked up at the doctor.

"Isn't it just about this phone that you're looking for me? Is there something urgent?"

The doctor limped over, snatched the phone from Lily, and quickly opened the album to show the daily photos.

The trembling eyes pressed against Charles. "Where is this place? Is it the Land of Light?"

Charles smiled. "Didn't I tell you I'm from the Land of Light? Why are you asking?"

"Since you said the scene inside is a land of light, then what is on the top of our cave? I've been there, and the environment there is completely different from the one in your photo."

"I want to know this question too. If I really knew everything, I wouldn't have jumped into the sea three years ago." Charles said this very calmly.

The doctor was obviously not satisfied with Charles' answer. "I won't ask you so many questions. I just want to ask you, do you still want to go out to sea and continue looking for the land of light?"

Seeing the doctor's expression, Charles seemed to have thought of something, "Do you think the Land of Light can unlock the clues on your things?"

What probably caught the doctor's attention was his thick, black tablet.

The doctor slid his finger quickly and clicked on a picture. It was a selfie that Gao Suling took with his phone on the street outside the community.

As he quickly zoomed in with his two fingers, Charles saw that behind his sister's beautified face, Uncle Liu from next door was sitting under the shade of a tree, playing chess on the tablet his daughter gave him.

"You have that thing there, right? I can fix my thing by just going there."

"Smith from the British Isles can charge my phone, but can't fix your thing?"

"No, he said something was broken in there."

Charles was not surprised by this answer. God knows when that thing was produced. The fact that it has lasted until now without falling apart is considered to be of high quality.

"Indeed, as long as we can return to the surface and repair an outdated slab, there won't be any problem at all. Are you still obsessed with this?"

"I am a doctor. I know I won't live long. My only wish now is to know what my father wants me to keep. Please answer my question. Are you Governor Charles or Captain Charles of the Narwhal?"

The atmosphere in the hall grew a little solemn, and the second mate Krona swallowed nervously.

Charles' answer is about opening up the trend of development in Hope Island.

"I'm Captain Charles of the Narwhal. I told you that place is my home and I will go back one day."

As soon as Charles finished speaking, various expressions appeared on the crew members' faces.

The doctor showed an ugly smile on his face, and he slapped the phone in Charles' hand. "Very good, I'll go pack my things. As long as I live one more day, there will never be a shortage of ship doctors on the Narwhal."

The doctor said, completely ignoring everyone else and limping out the door.
