Chapter 226: The god of the Hik tribe

"You put chili in this sauce?" Charles looked up and asked the giant in front of him.

"What is chili? I make this sauce with red heart leaves." The boss took out a lotus leaf-sized leaf from under the stall. It was red inside and black on the edge with a few serrations.

Charles tore off a piece of the heart and stuffed it into his mouth. Suddenly, a pungent feeling came out. Although this taste was spicy, it was completely different from the spiciness of chili peppers. It was spicy and bitter. There must be something added to the sauce to neutralize the bitterness.

Faced with this food called plastic, Charles and Lily ate half of their fill and then left the table.

It’s not that Charles didn’t want to eat, but Lily’s keen nose smelled other aromas coming from the distant bend.

Charles took Lily along the street near the pier towards the center of the island, eating and looking along the way.

Charles took Lily for a slow stroll around this huge island. The style of the island, which was completely different from other islands, was a feast for Charles' eyes.

The snacks at Broken Hearts Island tasted great, but the portions were huge. They wouldn't sell half a portion to Charles alone. Fortunately, the rest was not wasted and was all given to Lily's mouse friend.

The mice ate so much that their bellies were as round as bowling balls.

Unconsciously, Charles took Lily to the center of Broken Heart Island. The center of any island was clearly different from other areas.

The straight snow-white bone plates are neatly lined up in a row, forming a prosperous street that the poor would stay away from.

The shops on both sides of the street were also different in style from those outside. It was the first time that Charles saw traces of industry on this rough island.

It was a grand watch and glasses shop, with all kinds of well-dressed Haik people picking out goods inside.

"Now it seems that these people are no different from other places except that they are taller."

Faced with these things, it is impossible to buy them. The various goods in the store seem to be specially made for the Haik people, and they are all a generation bigger in size.

If you buy a pocket watch here, you can only hang it on the wall and use it as a wall clock when you take it home.

"Click~!" Charles took out his mobile phone and took a picture of the street.

"Don't move. It's troublesome to charge this thing." Charles pulled Lily away when she wanted to play with her phone.

Charles took one photo after another, and just when the phone's power was half used up, suddenly, a terrifying and hideous monster appeared on the screen.

Charles, with a calm expression, slowly moved his phone away. In the shop across the street, he saw the true form of the monster, which was a giant sculpture that was 5 meters long.

The sculpture is in a half-squatting position, with black holes of varying sizes all over its forelimbs, and two thin and long fingers.

There were three huge black eyes on its face, which looked like a melted candle. Several thin, almost green tentacles hung from the lower part of its head. Its lower limbs, which were also full of holes, were twisted into fractures.

"Is this the god of the Heike tribe?" Charles thought to himself.

Just as he guessed, the messengers of God all looked like ghosts, and they were not very good-looking.

Generally speaking, a civilization's belief in gods mostly comes from itself, just like the gods of humans on the surface mostly look like humans.

Since it looks completely different from Hick, it must also be a product of Earthsea.

Just as Charles was fascinated by the sight, the wooden door next to the statue suddenly opened, and a hunchbacked old man from the Hik tribe with his left trouser leg empty came in.

"Would you like to come in and take a look? There are a lot of good stuff in there." A rapid and turbid voice came out of his mouth.

After looking at the scenery of the surrounding streets, Charles walked into the huge shop.

This is a slightly dim house with various sculptures densely placed around it.

What surprised Charles was that there was not just one kind of statue here, but all kinds of strange sculptures, even the god Futan.

"Someone ordered from me. Why wouldn't they buy from me if they can make money?"

Charles' eyes swept across the various sculptures, and he soon noticed a detail: these sculptures were placed very casually, without any respect at all.

"Bang." A half-meter-high blood-red monster sculpture suddenly appeared in front of Charles.

This thing looked the same as the one Charles saw at the door, except that this statue was red and had very rich details, making it look like it was alive.

"I just made it. I use red coral. Buy one and take it home."

Looking at the hideous and weird appearance, Charles shook his head decisively.

In Earthsea, buying idols randomly is not a good idea.

He had heard that many unlucky guys went to a strange island and bought an ominous thing, which ended up causing all kinds of terrible troubles.

Seeing that Charles had no desire to buy, the old man immediately became uninterested. He put the statue aside and took out a brown pipe and started smoking.

"You don't know the value of things. Corals with such bright colors are not cheap in other places. If you sell them, you will definitely make a lot of money."

"Isn't this your God? How do you treat your God like this? Aren't you afraid that your God will punish you?"

The old man looked at Charles with strange eyes, "I made all the gods in this room. Can I take care of them all?"

Charles smiled self-deprecatingly. This boss really saw things clearly. Perhaps before the statue was sold, it was just a commodity in his eyes.

"Do you want to buy it? I'll give it to you at a lower price."

"How much?"

"Not much, 30 gold coins."

Hearing this, Charles turned and left. The gold coins of the Haik tribe were as big as a piece, a total of thirty pieces. This coral statue was worth the same weight of gold.

Although he is not short of money, he doesn't like being taken advantage of by others.

Just as Charles reached the door, he suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong? Do you want to buy it again?" The short-legged old man put down the pipe in his hand and asked.

Charles came back, picked up the red statue and shook it. "If I kneel down and worship this god devoutly, will there be any benefit?"

"It's no use. He's already dead. This is just a memorial."

Charles was very surprised. He had encountered many cults in this ghost place. They always said that their gods were omniscient and omnipotent. But this was the first time he had seen someone directly say that their gods were dead. Is a dead god still a god

"How did he die?"

The old man pointed his pipe at the statue in Charles's hand. "Buy it and I'll tell you."

"good."

A hint of joy appeared on the old man's face, but he quickly restrained it.

He took out a wooden box and said to Charles while filling it: "The messenger of God told us that the god named Paide had died long before we were born, but he was great. It was because of him that we and the gods that came after us were born. He is the beginning of everything."
