"Seven meters, and you've seen it before?"
Charles immediately realized that the other party was not the kind of gods he had imagined, they might just be a group of natives.
No wonder the statue owner said that gods would die. Now it makes sense.
Charles knew that even if the other party was not a god, he should still have some strength to be able to gain a foothold in this sea of land. However, the status of the god of the Heike tribe instantly dropped by who knows how many times in his heart.
Ajino, who was standing next to him, seemed to be able to see through Charles' thoughts. He smiled and said softly, "Mr. Charles, do you think that they are completely different from the gods in your North Sea?"
Charles looked at the wine glass in his hand without saying anything. Although he thought those things were just some natives, he didn't want to refute anything. He didn't believe in these messy cults, and there was no need to make enemies with the Haik tribe in their territory just for a little verbal pleasure.
"I know the God of Light, the God of Futan, the Giant Bird of Suffering, the Eye of All-Seeing, and many other names. But no matter how famous their gods are, no matter how omniscient and omnipotent they are, do they really have contact with their gods? In other words, do their gods really take their beliefs seriously?"
Glancing at the king who was still talking, Ajino continued to explain.
"Our gods are not, even though they are not omnipotent, even though they will die, but they are by our side, they care about us, and they have mercy on us."
"Are your gods still gods? Or are they just a bunch of ordinary island natives?"
"Captain Charles, what is God in your mind?"
This philosophical question was a bit beyond Charles' knowledge, so he didn't say anything and waited for Aginor to continue.
"God should be a higher-level concept, not a low-level belief born out of fear. I think it is very foolish to regard an unknown thing in the water as a god."
"Perhaps you are confused now, but when you see our gods, you will understand."
Charles looked at the giant in front of him with surprise. Is the person who just said this really a believer in a cult
Ajino said nothing more because the king over there had finished speaking.
Charles also pulled his mind away from the conversation just now and looked up ahead.
The king raised the golden cup in his hand and said, "A toast to our original god Paide, may he rest in peace forever in another world."
Charles raised the glass in front of him along with the others and took a sip.
The taste of the wine was unexpectedly familiar; it was Hope Island's banana wine.
"Captain Charles, this wine comes from the distant Hope Island. It is very expensive. There is a saying that it is like flowing gold on the Misty Sea."
A stifled laugh came out of Charles' pocket.
Charles reached into his pocket and pressed it, then raised his glass to Ajino beside him, "It's really unique."
The banquet was still going on. The king, who was dressed extravagantly, had no intention of communicating with Charles. He just talked to the people around him with a smile on his face.
Charles was not in a hurry and just ate. If the other party cared too much about him, he would really worry that this was a Hongmen Banquet.
Most of the islands' banquets were held at night, and it was rare for the Broken Heart Island's banquet to be held in the morning.
The servants silently came forward and began to clear the dishes. The long table that was more than thirty meters long had been cleared. Charles, who was sitting in the corner, saw the King of Heartbroken Island looking at him for the first time.
As soon as he opened his mouth, Charles was slightly surprised. "Captain Charles, the wine on your island is very good. It tastes different, but the price is too expensive."
Does this guy know that I'm the Governor of Hope Island
Charles said calmly, "You're welcome. It's just that the ingredients are a little special. If you need it, I can send a ship over."
"Haha, that's not necessary. Although it's expensive, as the lord of an island, I can still afford it. Now I have a question in my mind. As the king of a prosperous island, why did you travel thousands of miles to the Misty Sea?"
"You can ask the prophet about this matter. He knows everything about me."
Charles did not want the other party to take away his right to speak, so he spoke again: "Your people said that they wanted to give me a gift to thank me for my help. Regarding this, I would like to change the gift into a question. Please allow it, Your Majesty."
The King of Broken Heart Island touched the red ring in his hand. "What's the problem?"
"Deep Diver, these guys live so close to us, the Hik Tribe should be very familiar with their intelligence, right?"
"Yes, those scum are a hidden danger to all the Hik tribe. We have been fighting each other for hundreds of years. We are very familiar with their habits, threats and cruelty."
"So if a human suddenly turns into a Deep Diver, is there any way to turn him back?"
The king looked a little surprised, as if he was surprised that the other party would ask such a question.
"You don't need to ask anyone else this question, I can help you answer it, the answer is no."
Charles' heart sank. Does that mean that Dipper can't come back? "Why not? Since he can transform from a human into a Deep Diver, he should be able to transform from a Deep Diver back into a human."
"You guessed wrong. No one becomes a Deep Diver. They have always been Deep Divers, just at different stages. The young form of Deep Divers looks like humans. When they reach a certain time, or when they are stimulated by something, they will transform into adult Deep Divers."
"Just like the sturgeons that travel from the South China Sea to specific areas of the North China Sea to spawn, the scum hiding in the sea must rely on humans to reproduce. If a pregnant woman escapes, it is possible that the young deep divers will be adopted by humans."
This is very bad news for Charles, as it means that Dipper will never be able to change back.
Dipper's always energetic face appeared in his mind. Charles clenched his hands slowly, and his good mood instantly turned bad.
This was not just a regret for losing a strong teammate. During all his years in Earthsea, Dipper was one of the few people who could have a say.
"Captain Charles, you have a friend who has become a deep-sea person? That's really unfortunate."
Charles shook his head and stood up. "Your Majesty, thank you for your help. Now that the banquet is over, I will take my leave."
"Don't worry, I said I would give you a gift. Now that you are here, just take it."
