Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 270: A circle

Charles looked at the girl in front of him with eyes full of longing, and his heart was touched.

He had not thought of Swan's emphasis on education before. It is not unreasonable for him to have achieved such great success. I hope the Island can take this as a reference.

"What kind of knowledge does your college generally teach?" Charles listened while eating.

"There are many majors, such as metal materials engineering, electrical engineering, electromagnetic field and wireless technology, and many more."

"You have learned so much useful knowledge. What do you plan to do after you graduate from school?"

The girl lowered her head hesitantly. "Actually, I would rather work in the research institute in the academy. The days in the academy are the happiest time of my life. I don't have to worry about anything. I just need to learn interesting knowledge every day. I love the academy and I want to stay there forever."

The next second, her eyes lit up, her thin body leaned forward slightly, and she said to Charles with a bit of joy in her voice: "Sir, let me tell you something interesting. I heard that the academy recently invited a mysterious wizard from the West Sea to start teaching courses. This is really interesting. If we can fully understand magic, maybe we can use magic like we use electricity in the future."

Charles paused with his fork in his hand. "Do you think it's possible?"

"Why not? You see, flame, steam mechanical energy, electricity, these are just a form of energy. They can be converted into each other. As long as we fully understand the form of magic, we can completely master it."

"What about the relics? The relics are so magical, don't you guys want to analyze them?"

She stuck out her tongue. "I don't know much about this. I heard that there is a college with a research institute in the west of the island that is doing this, but I won't go for such an unpopular research direction. If the research team is disbanded by the college, it will be difficult to find a job."

Listening to her words, Charles' mind flashed through everything in the tablet. Human beings' spirit of exploring the unknown can never be stopped.

"When the curiosity about the relics cannot satisfy their curiosity, will they turn their attention to the gods in the sea again?"

Charles suddenly realized that this was a circle, a knot that humans could not untie. It was because of their constant exploration of the unknown that humans could become the masters of this planet.

But the irony is that this spirit will eventually bring destruction to mankind. Last time it was only the Foundation, but this time it may be all humans in Earthsea.

"Is it true that the only way to escape this fate is to believe in it and worship it forever like the Futan religion, and to beg it humbly?"

A trace of despair emerged in Charles' heart, and he suddenly found that he understood the actions of the madman of the Futan religion. Perhaps worshiping him and becoming his believer was the best solution for mankind.

"Sir? Sir, are you okay?" The girl looked at the stunned Charles cautiously.

Charles took a deep breath, cleared his mind of all the messy thoughts, picked up the slightly cold noodles and continued to eat.

"Sir, I'm done eating, please enjoy your meal. It's really nice to chat with you. I hope to see you again in the future!" The girl with glasses in front of him put down the bowl and trotted out of the restaurant.

After Charles stuffed the last roll of noodles into his mouth, he pushed the door and walked out.

There was a trace of confusion in Charles' eyes. He couldn't think of any good way to solve this unsolvable problem. The figure of God was like a mountain pressing down on mankind.

As his stomach was filled, Charles felt a little sleepy. He walked out of the restaurant and hailed a car.

"Go to the pier." Charles said to the driver. Lily should be back soon, and no one knew where she had been.

"Okay, sir, please sit tight." The car started.

Perhaps because everyone was sleeping, there were fewer people on the street and the cars on the road were a bit deserted.

"Are they working in two shifts or three shifts?" Charles thought absentmindedly, looking at the chimney in the distance.

When he put the lively smile of the girl he was just chatting with and the terrified expression of the child laborer with the broken hand together, it was hard for him to imagine that they were living on the same island.

Suddenly, Charles felt something was wrong. The scenery outside did not seem to be the way back to the port.

Hearing Charles' question, the driver with a mustache on his face laughed. "Sir, this is a shortcut. It's faster to go this way."

"Really?" Charles slowly turned his gaze to the driver's face, and his pupils suddenly shrank.

The horrific graffiti that was supposed to be hanging on his body had somehow crawled onto the driver's face.

With a click, the driver's entire neck was bent in half, with deep fear in his eyes.

The car, without anyone controlling it, began to sway from side to side on the street. "Damn it! What the hell are you doing!"

Charles yelled at the 372 in the driver's face and quickly reached over to step on the brake.

The car finally stopped as the tires left a black line on the ground.

Charles, who had just gotten out of the car, saw 372 floating strangely on the roof opposite. At this time, it was only a thin layer but suspended in the air, which looked very strange.

"What's wrong with it?"

Just when Charles was moved and puzzled, the cracking sound came again. A guy with a twisted body fell from the roof to the ground.

Charles immediately realized that 372 did not detach from the object, it was just possessed by an invisible guy.

When Charles saw 372 floating in a dark alley again, his muscles tensed instantly. Someone was following him, and there was more than one person.

"This is the road in the British Isles! Who dares to attack me in a place like this?"

Charles no longer had time to think about this problem. He stepped on the wall with one foot, jumped directly onto the roof, and ran towards the dock.

No matter who attacks him, the most important thing right now is to return to his fleet. The truth is within the range of his guns!

Charles was running between the rooftops as fast as parkour, and something was following him from the right side of his body.

It was a red origami bird, and as its wings fluttered, dots of red powder scattered everywhere.

"Bang!" The bullet shot by Charles tore the paper crane into pieces. He kicked his feet and rushed in another direction.

"Snap!" Charles' body suddenly stiffened, and an almost transparent manta ray appeared, wrapping Charles tightly in its arms.

Through the transparent body of the manta ray, Charles saw several distorted human figures outside approaching him.
