Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 477: Undying

Views:

It was really weird that the companion who had just died came back to life for no reason and was even feeling hungry and ran to the cafeteria to eat.

Seeing that Norden was really not a monster, the crew members no longer cared about eating. They quickly surrounded Norden and pressed him down on a stool, allowing the doctor to examine his body carefully.

A minute later, Linda looked up, and her usually cold face showed surprise. "Captain, Norden's brain is alive, and his body functions are alive too. He is really alive."

"How is this possible...?" Charles thought for a moment with a frown on his face, then lifted up Norden's shirt.

On the white and muscular chest, the bloody hole caused by the bone spur was still there, and blood was constantly oozing out.

This was a fatal injury no matter how you looked at it, but Norden acted as if nothing had happened.

Charles raised his index finger and poked it directly into the bloody hole. This action made Norden gasp.

"Does it hurt?" Charles looked at him and asked.

Norden gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. "It hurts, but I can bear it!"

The other party's performance made Charles feel relieved a little. At least he had human perception and was not a zombie.

His fingers continued to stretch inside, he first touched the ribs at the edge, and slowly touched a heart.

The heart with a hole in it was still beating, even though there was a walnut-sized hole on it.

"Ah!" Norden's face was full of pain, and his facial features were wrinkled in pain.

Charles looked at him and retracted his fingers. He turned to Linda and said, "His heart is still broken. Can you sew it up for him?"

Linda nodded with a hint of excitement. "I will take him to the medical room for surgery and a more detailed examination. This is amazing."

After she finished speaking, she didn't even bother to eat, and rushed to the medical room with Norden.

Charles turned and looked at Dipper beside him. The fishman nodded in tacit understanding. He grabbed the bread on the table and stuffed it directly into his mouth, then followed with the two sailors.

Odrick next to him seemed a little worried and quickly followed.

"Stop looking. The others continue eating. It's better to work after you're full. Don't forget where we are now. We don't have time to waste."

After hearing Charles' words, the other crew members suppressed their shock, swallowed their words and discussed something in a low voice.

In this strange atmosphere, the crew hurriedly finished their meal.

Taking advantage of this brief opportunity, they also solve their own physiological problems. No matter what happens next, there will definitely be no time to go to the toilet.

When the crew's shift was also completed, Linda, with her fingers stained with blood, walked into the cockpit and came to Charles' side.

"Captain, I have used sutures to sew up all of his damaged chambers. His wounds are healing. If he is given enough time, his heart will grow back."

"Is there any other problem with Norden's body? Like mutation or something like that?" Charles asked in surprise.

To be honest, if Anna hadn't been there to keep everyone sane, he would have thought everyone was under mind control when the dead came back to life.

Hearing Charles' question, Linda's eyebrows slightly frowned under the white triangle on her forehead. "It's not that he has mutated, but his body has indeed changed. He is now immortal, immortal in many ways."

"I injected the sea snake venom directly into his bloodstream, and his blood quickly coagulated. But even though the blood in his body stopped flowing, he still didn't die. I guess it would be the same even if I cut off his head now."

She put her mouth close to the captain's ear and whispered, "Captain, things seem to be a bit troublesome. It's not just Norden. I guess everyone on the ship has become like him now."

"What? Everyone?" Charles' pupils widened slightly.

Linda nodded first, then raised her right hand and pulled her sleeve with her left hand, revealing her white arm.

Charles saw a small spot of blood on the skin near his elbow.

"To verify my hypothesis, I also injected myself with a lethal dose of venom, but I didn't die either."

"Captain, I have not discovered what caused the symptoms, but in this place, the boundary between life and death has begun to blur as a living thing."

Charles stretched out his finger and pressed on the blood spot on her body, his expression looking particularly solemn.

He had seen many anomalies in Earthsea, but this was the first time he had seen such an anomaly, and it was so weird that it was beyond his imagination.

Although this seems to be a good thing, the crew members will not die no matter what injuries they suffer. As long as the wounds are sutured again, they can be alive and well again.

But faced with this phenomenon, Charles had a bad feeling in his heart.

He knew that nothing good had ever come out of the Earth Sea, especially under this deep sea. No one could guarantee what caused this effect.

And don't forget, this kind of undead anomaly appeared together with the powerful mental pollution. This anomaly is definitely not right.

"Does anyone else know about this besides you?" Charles asked his ship's doctor.

"I haven't told anyone else. It's up to you to decide whether to announce it to the crew members," Linda replied.

Charles thought for a few seconds and then said, "Don't tell anyone else about this, lest they be distracted. Try your best to heal Norden's injury. I estimate that this abnormality will only last in the trench, and it will return to normal after we get out."

"If Norden's wound is still fatal when he gets out, he will probably die instantly."

After Charles finished speaking, he turned around and prepared to go back to the cabin. However, just as he turned around, he saw from the corner of his eye that Linda had an expression that seemed to want to say something but was hesitant.

"What? Is there anything else?" Charles turned around and asked.

Linda didn't reply, and immediately walked up the stairs to the cabin, leaving Charles with a bald back. "I'll go check on Norden now, his injury should be fine."

What Linda said was true. Norden quickly returned to the deck. He didn't look like he wanted to die at all, and he moved freely.

The crew members asked him curiously if there was any way to avoid death, and whether he had hidden a life-saving relic like the second mate.

Faced with this question, Norden, who was not good at expressing himself, really had no answer.

Dipper followed him closely, on guard against any abnormality from this guy.
