Charles woke up with a bang in the airship that was moving slowly along the top rock wall. Lying in the spider silk quilt, he was gasping for breath, with cold sweat on his forehead.
"What's wrong? Is your head hurting again?" A small, soft hand reached out from under the quilt and gently stroked Charles' chest.
Charles swallowed and reached out to grab it, squeezing it gently, "It's okay. Just a nightmare."
Anna, who was sleeping next to him, came over and said, "Since it's just a nightmare, don't think too much about it. Think about the good things. In 6 hours, we will almost reach our destination and you can go home. What are you going to do after you return to the surface? Continue studying? Or continue working?"
Charles stared at the ceiling with a blank look. "I don't have time to think about that. I am more worried about the God of Light. What will He do after He arrives on the surface? So many people in the entire Earthsea have been killed by Him. How many of the more than six billion people on the surface will die because of Him? The nightmare just now was about this."
Anna patted his chest gently and consoled him: "Don't worry about the God of Light. He won't do such a stupid thing. The humans on the surface are fine."
Charles turned sideways and looked at Anna in the darkness. "How can you be so sure? He must have his own purpose for going to the surface. It must be a mess up there right now."
"Think about it. The God of Light is a collection of the seven highest commanders of the Foundation. With their style of doing things, they usually have clear goals. They would not do something like slaughtering humans."
"What about those who died underground? Aren't all those people who died human? I guess from the moment the GK Council became gods, they were no longer human."
"I'm not just making random guesses, I have a basis for it."
As she spoke, Anna lightly raised her right hand, which turned into a tentacle and rolled out a book with a yellow cover from the bookcase on the wall next to her.
As Anna opened the curtains, bright sunlight came in and the name of the book appeared in front of Charles: "The New Testament".
"Is this a book from the Church of Light?" Charles asked in surprise.
"Well, look at the contents here." Anna shrank into Charles' arms and opened the book in her hand.
As the tentacle swept across the line of words, Charles was immediately attracted by the content.
"You shall not worship anything except the God of Light, or you will suffer eternal torment."
"To Him alone belong your souls, your flesh, and your bones. The Great One is indeed omnipotent over all things."
"His throne is on the water, but that is not necessarily the case now. This is to test you to see which of you has the best work."
"The God of Light is a merciful God. When He returns, He will grant eternal life to all of His fellow men and take them to the Land of Light, where they will enjoy happiness and peace until the end of time."
Charles reached out and grabbed Anna's tentacles to stop her from scrolling down. "What are you looking at these nonsense? They are all nonsense used to consolidate the faith of the Church of Light."
As Anna shook her head gently, her soft hair rubbed against Charles' chest.
"No, think about what the God of Light and the Pope have done. Maybe they don't take human life seriously, but one thing is beyond doubt, that is, they never lie."
Hearing this, Charles' pupils shrank slightly. He lowered his head again and repeated the previous words in detail.
Having said that, Anna raised her head and looked at Charles' chin with a smile on her lips.
"You mean, the God of Light wants to leave the Earth?" Charles blurted out his guess.
"Haha, it's not that simple. Don't forget, after He came out, He took away nearly millions of followers of the Church of Light. The God of Light felt that the Earth was completely hopeless, so He decided to take away all the followers as seeds and run to other galaxies to reproduce human civilization again."
"Your previous guesses were all wrong. The Land of Light mentioned by the followers of the God of Light is not the surface of the earth at all. I guess the God of Light thinks that as long as there are so many gods below, the surface of the earth and the sea of earth are not much safer, so the other planet he decided to migrate to is the so-called Land of Light."
Anna said as she thrust the New Testament into Charles' hands. "Look, take a good look. He has clearly stated His plan in it."
Charles took the yellow book and flipped through it page by page, analyzing the meaning of these mysterious words word by word.
Three hours later, Charles, with a solemn expression, put down the New Testament in his hand. He turned to Anna and said, "You are right. This possibility is very high."
Anna came over with a smile and crawled on Charles' chest. "So don't worry, the God of Light will not attack humans on the surface. No matter from which angle you look at it, He will not do that."
Charles' worries were slightly relieved. As long as the God of Light stopped doing anything to the humans on the surface, there would be no disasters on the surface. Unlike the people of Earthsea, the people on the surface grew up in the sun.
"Don't be so tense. You should relax when you need to." Anna pushed Charles down on the bed with both hands.
"Anna, I'm not in the mood right now. We're almost at the exit. I'll go outside and take a look." Charles said as he was about to get up.
Anna's eyebrows jumped slightly, and she sat directly on his chest, and said condescendingly: "Gao Zhiming, now in this matter, you have no right to refuse."
The curtains were drawn again, and the cabin was suddenly plunged into darkness, but Charles, who had darkvision, could see everything clearly.
Time passed quickly, and several hours went by. When the captain of the airship came and knocked on the door, Charles realized that they had arrived at the island of 010.
Charles, wearing new clothes, brought Anna to the bridge outside the airship.
A beautiful sunny island appeared in front of Charles. It was the Ring of Time Island that they had visited once before.
But looking at the scenery in front of him, Charles showed a hint of surprise on his face. This island was indeed the same island as before, but the colorful space-time bubbles belonging to 010 on it were no longer there.
"Where did 010 go? Was he scared away by the God of Light, or was he captured by Him?"
Charles didn't dwell on this question for too long, because he saw that the metal gate that should have been closed on the rock formation above was already open.
