Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 536: Surface

Views:

"Woo~~" "Woo~" The continuous sound of the whistle echoed throughout the entire Ancha Island dock.

The first group of explorers were all doing the same action at this time, tilting their heads back, opening their mouths, and looking at the huge black hole above their heads with shocked expressions.

Although they had received this astonishing news from the Governor of Hope Island, hearing it from others and actually seeing it were two completely different things.

"Oh my god, there's such a big hole up there? So there really is another world out there?"

"I heard from others that we actually live in a ball, and if we get out of here, we will be outside the ball."

"What kind of ball can hold so many things? Do you believe everything others say? You have been deceived by a liar."

Joseph, with a mustache, stood on his deck, looking at the huge hole above with a serious expression, estimating something in his mind.

"Look who is this? Isn't this Joseph? You are here too?"

Joseph turned his head to look in the direction of the voice. When he saw the young man with a black eye mask and a double golden nose ring on the right side, his expression suddenly became slightly distorted.

He knew this guy. Three years ago, when he robbed a merchant ship, this guy named Wilson suddenly appeared and not only stole the goods worth 2 million echoes, but also killed his first mate!

"Hey, hey, hey~ What are you doing? Want to take action? The Governor of Hope Island is watching not far away. This is not a sea where no one is watching."

Joseph took out the relic and glanced at the Narwhal not far away, as well as the huge warships beside it, and forced himself to suppress the anger in his heart.

"Boy! Don't let me see you on the surface! Otherwise you'll be dead!!" Joseph threatened with gritted teeth.

"Well, I'm sorry, I don't have time to play house with you. I'm here to make money. The profit from exploring there once is equivalent to me exploring the island several times."

As they were talking, a purple-painted exploration steamer slowly approached.

"Wilson, you are still so greedy. The sea has submerged the entire island. What's the use of giving more money? I'm afraid you'll have the life to make money but not the life to spend it."

The person who was speaking was a pregnant woman with a bulging belly. She was wearing revealing clothes and heavy makeup. She didn't look like a captain, but rather like one of those prostitutes in the port area.

"It doesn't matter. I'm not the only one dying. The whole world is going with me. It's worth dying."

Just as they were chatting, a loud voice came from the warship's horn next to them. "All explorers disembark and gather at the Governor's Mansion on Ancha Island. The surface airship will depart in six hours, in batches!"

That was the order from the Governor of Hope Island, and the exploration captains immediately followed it. They already knew their purpose before they came.

Explorers are very familiar with Governor Charles of Hope Island, the governor who owns his own island and is still exploring islands. He is the most powerful governor in the North Sea.

All the explorers envied his experience. Being able to occupy an island alive and continue to occupy other islands was already their ultimate goal for which they risked their lives.

At the dock, the sound of anchors hitting the sea water continued to be heard, and all the captains walked towards the Governor's Palace of Ancha Island, which was still very simple.

Soon, on a high platform they saw the Governor of Hope Island, standing in front of a black stick connected to an electric wire.

Black hair and black eyes are very rare. The scar on his face makes him look a little vicious. His left arm is a mechanical prosthesis, and there seems to be something wrong with his right eye. It is not the ordinary black and white but black and red.

The captains looked at Charles and whispered to each other, discussing the legendary figure in the North Sea.

Charles adjusted the microphone in front of him and continued, "I have already told you all the details on the way here, so I will not repeat them here. Please give your all, as this exploration concerns the life and death of everyone in Earthsea."

Before Charles could continue, he saw a hand stretched out from the crowd. "Any questions?"

The one who raised his hand was Wilson, who had a nose ring. Even when facing the famous Charles, he still looked as frivolous as before.

"Respected Governor, did the God of Light who killed so many people in Earthsea really die up there? Then is it a hundred times more dangerous than exploring an island?"

"No one knows about this kind of thing. Are you scared? Don't worry, I'm not using you as cannon fodder. I will go with you on this exploration."

Wilson chuckled, "If you were afraid, you wouldn't be an explorer. I just want to ask, in addition to the rewards for ordinary exploration, if we help you find the darkness you mentioned, is it true that there are three islands as the final reward as you said before?"

"Yes, this sentence is always valid. Anyone who can find darkness will not only be rewarded with three islands, but these three islands will belong to the finder forever."

"Anyone who attacks these three islands will be blocked by Julio, me, and Chief Hahod. This is what we promised."

The explorers were all excited when they heard this. After all, who wouldn't want to have their own island if they could become an explorer

Especially this island will always belong to you and your descendants.

"Cough cough~!" Charles' clear cough suppressed everyone's discussions.

"I'd say it's better. This is premised on us returning Earthsea to its original state. If we can't find the lost darkness within three years, then we'll all die!"

"I don't know if this is Earth or not, but I do know that we are most likely the last humans here. If all of us die, then humans, our entire species, will cease to exist!"

As soon as Charles said this, the surroundings suddenly became silent. This sentence was like a huge rock pressing on everyone's heart. The extinction of mankind is too heavy.

Charles began to talk again about the details of going to the surface and various precautions. Just as the speech was coming to an end, a special sound was heard in the sky.

When everyone looked up, they saw two floating airships with air bags hanging on them, slowly descending from the black hole in the sky. "The ship is coming! Everyone get ready!"

The summoned explorers lined up and boarded the huge airship in an orderly manner with their crew members.

There were too many people and not enough airships, so they could only go to the surface in batches. Fortunately, the journey to the surface did not take long, and it only took 6 hours at the speed of the airship.

The six-hour wait was depressing, especially in such a dark tunnel. When we walked out of that long passage, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Outside the surface, a simple fortress has been built next to this huge pit that is tens of kilometers long. Some engineers are constantly repairing this military facility. The name of this fortress is simply called the Giant Pit Fortress, which was given by Charles.

There weren't many people in the fortress. The most numerous were the rows of brand new cars, which were the explorers' means of transportation.
