Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 580: City

"Mr. Charles, Little Maomao said it's very strange in there, but there's no one and no danger." Standing on Charles' shoulder, Lily translated the original words of the exploring mouse.

Charles, with a frown on his face, held a telescope and looked at the steamship parked in the Gobi Desert in the distance.

Judging from the traces, this ship should have set out a month and a half ago. After getting the trace photos of 068, Charles specially sent several ships to explore in advance, and this was one of them.

However, the metal steel ship has completely changed its appearance. The hull, which should have been streamlined, has become extremely weird and distorted.

It was as if it had been turned into a piece of plasticine and then a child had played with it for half an hour. Something must have happened to the ship to make it look like this.

"Let's go and take a look." Charles said, and started walking away.

As the distance got closer, Charles saw more details. Not only was the metal of the hull distorted, but so was the glass of the cockpit.

The glass, which should have been fragile, was distorted into an uneven mirror.

This must be some extremely strange power that can do this, but Charles couldn't figure out what kind of power it was. Things on the surface were much stranger than those in the Earthsea.

"Click~~" The curved hatch was taken down directly by Charles, his right eye jumped out of the eye socket and he quickly crawled inside.

The spider was very fast. It crawled quickly through the undulating corridor and took in everything inside.

The outside is twisted, and the inside is the same. The black and red spider with its own unique lines looks so out of place in here.

Soon Charles stopped in the kitchen and crawled in. All the pots and pans inside were twisted, even the pickles in the glass jars.

The spider jumped onto the chopping block and injected digestive juice into the piece of dried meat in front of it.

"The food is good and edible." Charles said to himself outside the deck.

"The fresh water tank is filled with light beer which is not poisonous. The fuel tank is also sufficient. It can be said that there is nothing missing on this ship except for people."

The spider made a big circle inside and quickly crawled out, crawling back into the eye socket along Charles' trouser leg.

"Bandages, are there enough supplies on the ship?" Charles turned and asked his first mate.

"There's enough water... but the rest has been... almost... used up by half... and we need to reserve some for the return trip..."

After thinking about it, Charles directly ordered the crew to collect the supplies in this strange ship. Now that they had arrived here, they had to ensure that there were enough supplies before they could continue exploring.

As for what happened to the people on the ship, Charles no longer thought about it. It was nothing more than death.

Barrels of twisted fuel and food were moved out and loaded onto Charles's ship.

Everyone got back on board and continued to follow the movement rules of 068. Charles was going to have another long and boring journey, but on the third day after encountering the ship, a completely new landscape appeared in front of Charles, including the ruins of some houses.

At first there were only one or two piles, but gradually the ruins became more and more, and finally a complete city appeared in front of everyone.

Everything in this special city was weathered, some tall buildings had collapsed and some were still standing. It looked very desolate under the purple light.

"Mr. Charles, have you lived in a place like this before?" Lily leaned close to Charles' ear and asked in a low voice as if she was afraid of waking up the unknown things in the city, even though it seemed that there was nothing inside now.

The tracks of 068 crashed straight into the city, crushing out two roads in the ruins.

Standing on the deck, Charles tried hard to figure out which city he was in and whether he was in Asia or Europe.

However, the weathering of the city by wind and sand has made it impossible for him to see the details of the city, and it is difficult for him to determine what landmark buildings the city has.

But gradually he felt that something was wrong with this city. Looking around, the city was very strange. There were only crowded high-rise buildings. This was obviously abnormal. No city would be planned like this.

The weathered high-rise buildings of the same height and width looked so strange. This frugal style reminded Charles of the foundation for no reason.

"That's impossible. Why would the Foundation build this city here? The surface is full of dangers. It would be completely useless for them to do this."

"But if you say that this city is a relic of my time, it doesn't make sense. It's been 1,000 years, how can traces of the city still exist?"

Suddenly, an upright prismatic eye flashed between the two tall buildings on the right. Charles' spirit instantly tensed up and he immediately ordered the crew to enter combat readiness.

Just as the fore and aft deck guns turned their dark muzzles toward that direction, the owner of the eyes walked out from between the buildings. It was a bug, a bug several hundred meters long, made of a pile of black jigsaw puzzles.

It looked like it was floating in the air and was slowly approaching Charles.

Seeing such a huge monster approaching this side, everyone was extremely nervous.

They stared at Charles nervously, waiting for him to give the order to attack, but Charles showed no intention of taking action.

He stared at the bottom of the insect, but there was no shadow of the creature.

"Captain! Fight or flight!!" Dipper's face looked very anxious, but Charles still ignored him and stared at the bug.

As the distance got closer, everyone discovered a detail that they had not noticed before. The insect was not floating in the air, but had densely packed long legs like fine needles growing underneath its body.

"Captain! Do something! It's coming!!"

"Shh, don't move, don't move, just stand where you are." Charles' strange eyes saw some strange light coming from deep underground.

Although it was strange, Charles could easily see the light buried deep underground.

Under everyone's gaze, the bug came to the top of the deck, and long, thin needles fell down, instantly piercing through everyone's skull and piercing into the floor.

The next second, the long needle was pulled out and continued to fall forward.

The translucent, slender needle legs were like raindrops, constantly dripping on everyone's body and then disappearing.

Lily carefully stretched out her little paw and touched the long needle in front of her, but went straight through it.

This thing is not physical, or it could be said that this thing and Charles are not in the same dimension at all.
