But no matter what 068 encountered, Charles had to continue exploring. He carefully walked to the door and looked outside through the peephole.
There was no one on the street outside the door, and it seemed very deserted, but Charles' keen hearing detected some strange movements in the houses around him, and it was obvious that there were people inside.
"Our goal is not the city above but the shelter below. We can no longer communicate with the humans outside. We must find the computer itself. It contains all the information about 068."
Charles withdrew his eyes from the cat's eye and spoke to his crew members. The crew members nodded silently and gripped their weapons tightly.
"Try to act stealthily and don't alert the people up there."
Just after Charles and others finalized the invasion plan, the birdman in the bedroom suddenly stuck his head out from the wall and stared at them.
"Hurry, follow me!" Charles dug out his eyes and threw them to the front to lead the way, and the others followed closely behind.
They walked nervously along the corner of the wall, and whenever they approached a place in the house where there was a sound, they deliberately stepped lightly to avoid disturbing the residents.
Suddenly, at a corner of an intersection, Charles stopped.
His eyes saw a man standing at the intersection in the distance. He was squatting on the ground and looked like he was smoking, but there was a black raven head on his head.
After a few seconds of simple thinking, Charles' body disappeared in an instant. Soon, the trash can next to the road sign in the distance suddenly made a sound.
When the raven squatting there heard something, it did not stand up. Instead, it slid over diagonally as if it had wheels under its feet.
Seeing that the man was attracted, Charles appeared at another intersection and quickly waved a flag to let the crew follow.
Charles ran with big strides while looking around cautiously and said, "Go this way, the garage leading to the shelter is in this direction, it should be—"
He was halfway through his words when a scene in front of him made him freeze in his tracks.
A pregnant woman with half cat face and half human face was embedded in the wall upside down, staring at Charles with her vertical pupils.
Charles knew this person. She was the captain of the exploration ship who had found and brought back the helicopter. It was obvious that the stranded ship was theirs.
The pregnant woman's mouth suddenly opened. There was no tongue or teeth in it, only a pitch-black hole. A noise similar to that of a radio tuning came out from it, as if she was calling for her companions.
Soon a vine with red thorns quickly emerged from the white bandage, wrapped around the woman's head and twisted it, pulling her head off.
Scarlet blood splattered from the air onto Charles' face. Before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, the head suddenly let out an extremely shrill scream, and the glass of the houses next door shattered.
"Damn it!" Charles kicked hard with his right foot and jumped directly into the air. Steel grabbed the screaming head with one hand and slammed it hard against the wall next to him, and the scream stopped abruptly.
But it was too late. People of different appearances appeared in the windows of the surrounding houses, staring at Charles with their animal eyes of various colors.
"Run!" With Charles's low roar, everyone moved instantly and ran quickly along the road.
"Ta-da~Ta-da~" Hearing the sound of horse hooves coming from behind, Spider jumped onto Linda's shoulder and looked back.
At some point, more than a dozen police cars appeared on the road. They had no wheels, but instead had four horse legs that kept moving. Although they looked strange, their speed was not slow at all.
Dipper pulled out two grenades from his waist, pulled out the safety pins, and threw them behind him.
The strange-looking policeman took out his weapon, stretched his arm out of the glass window and kept pulling the trigger. A bullet hit Charles' right shoulder and made a hole in his clothes.
Charles knew that he couldn't go on like this. If he kept running like this, there would only be more and more people following him, and he had to find a way to get rid of them.
The bandage beside him seemed to know what Charles was thinking, and he suddenly stopped and said, "I... come..."
As the bandages under his feet swelled rapidly, the smooth bruised road cracked, and green vines and thorns quickly spread in all directions, forming a solid roadblock.
The police car kicked off with all four hooves and flew high over the plant roadblock. There was a horse trap formed by vines, and people and horses were thrown to the ground in an instant.
By the time they finally managed to escape, Charles and the others had already disappeared.
An eyeball-sized black-and-red spider was lying under a car. After it saw the police cars clearing the battlefield and dispersing, it quickly crawled toward a basement nearby.
"Let's go, they've left, be careful. This place is getting weird." Charles said after stuffing the spider back into his eye socket.
The crew nodded and slowly explored forward. After what happened last time, Charles and the others were more cautious.
Try not to let these people see you. If you really have to, try to do it quietly.
The strange residents on 068 seemed to know of Charles' arrival and began to be alert.
Fortunately, after two hours of hard work, Charles and others finally arrived at the garage leading to the basement safely.
Coming to the innermost wall of the garage, Charles recalled his last memory. He stretched out his fingers and pressed quickly on the wall.
After a few beeps, Charles breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the elevator door open. The crew members rushed in and waited for the elevator door to close.
There was nothing outside the garage, but just as the elevator door was about to close, a hand dripping with black asphalt pressed against the elevator door.
The door opened again with a ding. A woman with her head bowed and her back bent, holding her belly, walked in. Her limbs and body were extremely twisted, and her fingers and limbs had turned several circles.
As the black finger pressed the elevator number, the elevator door closed with a "click" and began to slowly fall downwards.
The strange woman stood there surrounded by everyone without any hint of movement.
The atmosphere in the elevator became tense and depressing. Everyone held their weapons tightly, trying to prevent the other party from attacking at all times.
Dipper quietly took out the black thorn but Charles pressed it down with his hand.
Charles realized that this thing might not be in the same group as the birdman above. Otherwise, she wouldn't have had no reaction after meeting him. She might not be a native creature on 068.
No matter what this thing is, in this situation, as long as it does not hinder our goal, we should try not to fight it.
