Chapter 588: Revise

Anna looked at Charles's determined eyes for a few seconds, then sighed. "Yes, your memory has been modified, but I don't know what happened before."

Charles' pupils shrank slightly. "You didn't modify the memory? How come you didn't know? Is there something else that modified my memory?"

"Yes, it was me who modified it, but I also deleted my memory myself. It was deleted very cleanly, leaving no trace at all."

Anna stretched out her soft fingers and blocked them in front of her lips to stop Charles from asking further questions. "In the past, you and I left some explanations to prevent us from investigating further. You will understand after reading them."

The white neck cracked open, and Charles' familiar smartphone stretched out from inside.

Anna tapped the keys quickly with her red-nailed fingers, and a video played in front of Charles.

Inside were Charles and Anna, who looked very haggard. Their expressions looked very solemn and ugly.

"Anna, don't go looking for the real memory and don't let Charles look for it. We can't afford the price if we find it."

"That's right. Let my future self focus on what he is good at. As long as this matter is over, it will be over."

As soon as Charles in the video said this, the screen shook suddenly.

"Charles!! Can't wait any longer! It's coming!!"

The video ends here, but the information it reveals makes Charles more confused.

Anna took the phone and inserted it back into her body, saying with a hint of frustration in her tone: "It seems that you brought some trouble back from your last exploration, but since our past selves said so, it's best for us to do nothing. I didn't want to tell you, but you actually noticed it yourself."

Whatever it was, Anna believed in her past self and her past Charles.

"How could it be? I just went to 068 before, and there was nothing unusual on it except those bird-headed bug people. Could it be something in the city?"

The current situation makes Charles feel very confused. No matter how hard and difficult the situation was in the past, at least he still had a goal, and he knew what he wanted to do and who the enemy was.

But now, I have no idea what happened to me in the past, and I also don’t know what is threatening me. I am just guessing a riddle with myself and am completely confused.

"Don't think about anything. Just listen to your past. If others can't trust you, can't you even trust yourself?" Anna came over, put her hands on his shoulders, and pushed Charles to sit down on the edge of the bed.

Thinking carefully about what was said in the video on his phone, Charles put aside his doubts. Since he said that doing nothing was the best way to deal with it, he'd better do as he was told. However, the feeling of not being in control was really uncomfortable.

Anna's gentle voice soothed Charles' nerves. "Do you want to sleep a little longer? I see your eyes are full of bloodshot."

Charles sighed, walked to the window and opened the curtains. He leaned his elbows on the window sill and looked at the quiet Giant Pit Fortress outside. "I'm not going to sleep anymore. I can't sleep even if I lie down. If you want to sleep, you can lie on the bed for a while."

Anna came over from behind, her hands transformed into wriggling tentacles with black scales, and she gently embraced Charles. "I'll accompany you."

The two of them snuggled up to each other quietly and looked outside. Anna hummed the familiar lullaby softly in Charles' ear.

Before he knew it, Charles fell asleep again. When he opened his eyes again, he found that it was only seven o'clock in the morning.

"I only slept for such a short time? How come I feel like I had a good rest?" Charles was very surprised. The bad situation before completely disappeared, as if he had given his brain a bath.

"Of course not. Seeing that you were so tired, I asked your crew to postpone the departure time for one day. Now it's already the evening of the second day." Anna's tentacles loosened.

Anna leaned over and touched Charles' nose with her small nose, "Don't be too tired. Sometimes you should relax more."

"Yeah, I really should relax more. If I tense myself up, I'll always have problems. But at least the whispers in my ears are much quieter when I'm away from the ocean."

As the day passed and nothing happened, Charles slowly calmed down. It seemed that as long as he continued to do things as he had done in the past, there would be no accidents.

"Go wash your face. Breakfast is ready. I made it myself." Anna said gently.

Charles looked at her in surprise and said, "Okay."

The cold water rushed onto Charles' face, and he opened his eyes and looked at himself in the mirror.

Because of the last burn, there was very little skin left on Charles' face, and it was blood red and very horrifying. However, even with such an injury, it could not hide the scars on Charles' face.

Both eyes were abnormal. One eye was black and red, which was a spider's eyeball, and the other eye seemed to be covered with a layer of white gauze, which was the same injury suffered last time.

One of his left ears was torn off, leaving only an ear hole.

With the gear metal left hand, Charles suddenly felt that the self in the mirror was very strange. Unconsciously, he had changed a lot, his body memory and everything were changing.

"Come on, the milk is getting cold," Anna's voice made Charles turn and leave the bathroom.

The room he lived in was not big, but Anna's presence made it very warm, and the breakfast on the table was steaming.

The breakfast was simple, and the style was unfamiliar to Charles: a boiled egg, a bowl of porridge, two steamed buns, and a fried dough stick.

"What are you standing there for? Come and eat. Didn't you say we were going to explore today?" Anna reached out and pulled the stool away.

Charles bit down on the side of the meat bun, and when the familiar taste exploded in his mouth, his lips trembled slightly.

He ate with big mouthfuls, enjoying the hometown delicacies that he hadn't seen in more than ten years.

"Thank you. If you hadn't reminded me, I would have almost forgotten that I am Gao Zhiming from Earth."

"As long as you like it, I'll cook for you every day when I have time." Anna, who was standing aside, held her chin with her hand and said to the man in front of her.

Charles swallowed his breakfast with porridge and shook his head slightly, "You won't. This is not your character."

"Tsk, why are you so straight? Is there anyone who ruins the atmosphere like this? If you're not leaving today, forget about getting in my bed today."

Charles looked at the dissatisfied Anna and couldn't help but laugh with his breakfast in his mouth.

"What are you laughing at? Eat quickly." Anna lifted her red high-heeled shoe and kicked his calf.
