Spider stood on the edge of the boat and looked down. The white spider web-like thing was getting closer and closer. This distance allowed Charles to see the topography of the island clearly.
This oval-shaped floating island has depressions and forests, and its terrain looks no different from that of an ordinary island, except that everything here is covered with a layer of white.
"Bang!" The exploration ship landed, and the impact caused the white matter to fly up, so light and not wet at all. Charles then discovered that this "mold" was some kind of plant similar to dandelion, and it was floating all over the island.
The explorers on the ship walked down the ladder and began to prepare for the next exploration.
After Captain Locke exchanged some ideas with the captain of another exploration ship, he led five men and one woman to the right. They planned to explore separately and planned to meet in three days.
Charles looked at the two exploration teams heading in different directions, quickly moved his hairy spider legs, and crawled behind Locke.
There are white dandelions everywhere, and the thickness of the ground is even higher than an adult's waist.
As a spider, it was very inconvenient to move in such an environment. Finally, Charles simply jumped hard and jumped directly onto Locke's broad back and started hitchhiking.
Of course the other party noticed it, but he didn't react at all.
Locke and his subordinates looked around vigilantly, paying attention to any possible accidents.
Most of the crew members were holding one or more relics, and from the looks of it, they were all offensive relics.
The most eye-catching person is Locke, who unbuttoned his shirt to reveal his upper body covered with spiral tattoos. The black color on his fair skin seemed to move.
"Captain, what's the situation over there?" The voice from the other side attracted Charles' attention.
Charles stood up with his back against the railing and looked at the second mate Nico in front of him with his one eye. "They just went off the ship to explore and found nothing. Is there something wrong?"
"Now that they have all gone in, shouldn't we take action as well?"
Charles shook his head. "No need. Prepare all the exploration supplies and follow my orders."
He wasn't crazy and was seeking death. Since someone had explored the way ahead, he certainly wouldn't let his own people take risks.
Judging from the previous person, there is a high probability that there are other Feuerbach clones on this island. As long as we find one, we can get the foundation's preliminary information from their brains.
Charles now knows almost nothing about this familiar yet unfamiliar organization.
Whether we cooperate with them or become hostile to them in the future, it will not be a good thing.
And judging from their exploration, the probability of asking them about the location of the darkness might be more reliable than searching blindly.
Just as he was thinking about these questions, the violent shaking of the spider's eyeball reminded Charles that something else had happened, and his attention quickly returned.
"Bang bang bang bang!" Gunshots continued to ring out. They were now in a white forest. There were more dandelions piled on the ground, almost reaching the chest level of an adult.
With a ferocious expression, Locke led his crew members to attack the white dandelions on the ground continuously.
Charles' attention was not here before, and he didn't know what Locke and the others had encountered.
"Fuck! Boss, I was bitten by that thing!" A sturdy man holding a large double-shot pistol raised his right hand tremblingly. A large triangular piece of flesh was cut on his arm. Looking from the side, one could even see the bones inside.
Just as he finished speaking, a woman next to him suddenly groaned in pain and subconsciously covered her knees with her hands.
When she raised her hand to see how much blood she had lost, she found that her palm had disappeared, leaving only a bleeding wrist.
The situation was in chaos, their condition became extremely critical, and the crew was under attack every moment.
Locke immediately turned to look at the silent man in black robe next to him. "Don't just stand there, let the bugs go!"
The buzzing sound of insects flapping their wings continued to be heard. From under the black robe body, the white dandelions gradually turned black, and it seemed that something was expanding inside.
When all the white dandelions around them turned black, the attacks on the crew stopped.
Charles controlled the spider to jump directly into the pile of black dandelions. He immediately saw those strange-looking black beetles. They filled most of the gaps and made it impossible for the enemy to escape. The man had the ability to control insects.
"They are not in there, they come from somewhere else." As the man in black robe slowly raised his hands, the insects lifted up the entire dandelion carpet.
Now, even Charles saw that there were some uneven holes of different sizes in the rock formations on the ground, and the things that attacked them before were inside these holes.
Charles nodded silently, took out his diary, and wrote down something in detail with a pen.
After this attack, Locke and others immediately became extremely alert and did not dare to be careless at all.
"Person, apply poison No. 9 to everyone's clothes. Hurry up and don't just stand there." Locke began to prepare for the next attack.
As they gradually explored, time passed little by little. During this period, the things in the ground had caused trouble for them, but the effect was worse each time, and humans had gradually adapted to their attacks.
That night, they were divided into two groups, one group rested while the other group ate voraciously.
Locke ate the meat in the can in big mouthfuls, and reached his right hand into the clothes of the female crew member next to him and kept kneading it.
The female crew member with the gold nose ring didn't care at all. Like everyone else, she continued to wolf down her food. Her palm, which should have been broken, actually returned to its original state.
Even Charles, who is also an explorer, couldn't figure out how she did it.
"It seems that there is another layer under this island. This thing can't take the lives of the previous explorers. They should have encountered something else. I just don't know why these guys haven't come out yet." Locke said to his crew.
"Boss, it must be because we don't have a brain, so their attacks on us are ineffective, so they are too lazy to even come out now."
"Oh, I'm not that optimistic. If I encounter a situation that I can't solve, I will immediately activate the inverted pendulum. You all need to be prepared."
When the crew members around heard this, they swallowed what they had in their mouths and nodded with serious expressions.
"The lucky guy who found the darkness has already received his reward from the governors. He is now returning to Earthsea to accept his three islands. Guys, cheer up! We are next!!"
