Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 66: Light grey clumps

"Mr. Charles, let's go quickly. I'm a little afraid of this thing..." Lily, with droopy ears, shrank into Charles' pocket.

"Hush."

"Snap!" A straight and motionless body suddenly stood up, scaring Lily so much that she screamed.

"Da da da da." It turned and walked deeper into the corridor.

Charles thought for a moment and followed. No matter what this thing was, it lived here. It should be more familiar with this place than himself. Maybe he could find more clues by following it.

"Dude, do you think this thing will receive blessings here?"

"I'm not sure. Looking at the ruins outside, this place has been abandoned for at least a few hundred years. If this thing is a worker here, how old is it?"

"Who can tell for sure about this damn place? What if it exchanges its heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys for its lifespan?"

At this moment, Charles suddenly felt movement in the corner, and the revolver in his hand instantly pointed over there. At some point, a long white creature was crawling in the corner.

The snake-like creature ignored Charles' threats and slowly crawled forward.

Charles walked over carefully and lifted its body with the black blade. This long creature was much more agile than its body, and it quickly scurried away with its slender body.

"Mr. Charles, he's about to leave." Lily said while hiding her things in her pockets.

Looking at the still moving body in the distance, Charles quickly stood up and caught up.

At this moment, his mind was still rapidly searching for clues about the long object. First of all, there was no such creature on Earth, but he just felt inexplicably familiar with it, and he couldn't remember it no matter how hard he tried.

The further into the corridor, the fewer the tree roots became. As the shell turned a corner, a spacious circular hall appeared in front of Charles.

Looking at the cracked striped floorboards, Charles could imagine how grand this place must have been in the past.

But the weird thing about this hall is that there is no furniture or other furnishings around it. It is so empty that there is not even any garbage, as if the people here had specially hired a moving company before leaving.

As the body walked through the hall, Charles' feet suddenly slipped and he seemed to have stepped on something.

Charles wiped away the thick dust on the ground with his hands, and a metal plate without any rust appeared in front of him. It seemed to be pasted on the door for identification, but only a part of the front part of the plate was shown, and the back part was wiped off for some unknown reason.

"E4-class object interaction—"

"Item interaction? They are using the relics for experiments?" Charles was even more confused.

With this doubt, Charles threw the sign, stood up and was about to leave, but the next second a horrifying scene appeared. The sign thrown on the ground actually stood up by itself.

It moved by swaying on the two sharp corners of the sign.

Charles walked slowly forward looking at the sign and quickly followed. This little thing couldn't scare him.

As they went deeper, more and more things gathered from other channels.

They walked along the same path as the body, and looking at them, Charles felt that these things were very much like believers making pilgrimage to the holy land.

They completely ignored Charles, and Charles did not attack them. For a moment, the scene seemed somewhat harmonious.

But when a pair of human lungs ran past Charles' feet, his pace slowed down.

A light bulb suddenly lit up in Charles' mind, and he knew what the long thing on the ground was. It was the human small intestine!

He immediately understood why there were no internal organs inside the body, because all his internal organs had fallen out.

His body began to tremble, not because of fear. Charles didn't know why his body was trembling, but his body kept trembling.

Although there was no sense of danger around him, his eight years of sailing experience told him that this place was dangerous and he should leave. But he was unwilling to quit now.

At this moment, all the animated objects in the distance moved into a house, and faint voices were heard from that room.

"Brother, now that we are here, why not at least take a look? Let's take a look and then leave. What if there is something good here?" Richard encouraged.

After hesitating for a moment, Charles continued to move forward.

At least from the current perspective, these animated things do not have any malicious intentions. What if there is an entrance to the surface gate inside this facility

Following the various internal organs, Charles turned into the room and was stunned by the scene in front of him.

Inside the room was a huge space the size of a football field. A water tank occupied two-thirds of the space. Living creatures coming in from entrances on all directions shook their bodies rhythmically towards the water tank, as if performing some kind of religious ritual.

Charles' eyes shot towards the water tank. A light grey mass was constantly trembling and expanding in the tank. The crawling and wriggling deformed creatures were split apart and quickly crawled out of the tank, but every time they were about to crawl out, they were quickly swallowed up by the mass again.

"Gudong" Charles swallowed hard and his feet slowly moved backwards. No matter what the water tank was, the exit to the surface was definitely not here.

Suddenly, the light grey mass in the water tank quickly condensed into a human male head with a terrified face, and it wailed madly at Charles. "Help me, kill me quickly, I am in so much pain. I can't stand it."

Charles stood there in a daze. He had thought of many things, but he had never expected such a scene to happen.

"Dude, this thing looks a bit stupid, try to trick him and see if there's any benefit to be gained."

But Charles didn't want to do that. Now this place was completely out of his control, and he felt very bad.

Just as he was about to leave, Richard immediately controlled his mouth and asked the unknown thing in the water tank: "Who are you?"

As soon as Charles finished speaking, the animated objects around the water tank turned around in unison. This scene really made people feel cold.

"I can't stand it, I'm in so much pain, please, my body is melting. For the sake of us being human, kill me quickly!" After saying this, the head in the water tank collapsed into a light gray mass again.
