Chapter 73: Reward for help

Views:

"Hey! Charles, long time no see, where have you been all this time?" William, with a dejected expression, raised the wine glass in his hand.

Charles looked at the ordinary-looking girl next to Elizabeth. "Who is this...?"

"Charlie's daughter. Charlie died, and she took over her father's ship and became the new captain of the exploration ship." The fat man on the side answered enthusiastically.

Charlie? Richard immediately remembered the dark-faced, middle-aged man with a hooked nose.

"How did he die?" Charles looked a little surprised. Having been an explorer for so long, he still found it difficult to adapt to the situation where people died all the time.

William burped and chuckled. "He's dead, so why bother about how he died?"

Charles felt a little sad. It was because of Charlie's relationship that he was able to go to Sodom and obtain the information about Sunshine. He wanted to thank him, but he didn't expect that it would be the last time they saw each other.

Looking at the girl, Charles considered his words and said, "I am your father's friend. If you encounter any difficulties in the future, you can come to me."

Since others helped me for free in the past, I should of course take care of his descendants.

The fat man next to her winked at the girl. "Little girl, Charles is a very powerful guy. If you just ask him for a living island, he might be able to get it."

Charlie's daughter smiled shyly at Charles. "Thank you, Dad mentioned you."

Looking at her innocent smile, Charles wanted to stop her from getting involved in this muddy water. God knew what kind of torture that damn Earth Sea would cause her. However, this was someone else's family business and it was difficult for him to intervene.

Charles looked at the giant beauty on the sofa. This was the purpose of his visit today. "Can you come out for a moment?"

Elizabeth raised her lips slightly but then forced them back, pretending to be indifferent and said, "No. I'm not in a good mood today."

Including William and several familiar looking guys all burst out laughing; they could see at a glance the awkward relationship between the two.

Charles took out the women's earrings, shook them, and walked out the door.

Seeing the earring, Elizabeth's expression immediately became serious. She let go of the girl and quickly followed.

Looking at the two people leaving, the other captains talked about it.

"What do you think their relationship is?"

"What else could it be? That kind of relationship."

"Didn't Elizabeth like girls before? Why did she start liking boys? I thought she was just playing around."

"Who knows? Maybe he wants to change his taste."

“With such a big woman, Charles must be very tired every night.”

"Yes, one can do the job of two."

The two of them stopped at the entrance of Concordia Hospital. "How come my illusion earrings are with you?" Elizabeth looked a little solemn.

Charles returned the earrings to Elizabeth without saying a word, then reached out to pull off her blindfold and looked at the black hole behind her that was exactly the same as the one on the body on the island.

Elizabeth impatiently opened it with her hands. "Answer my question. I lost this relic on a dangerous island. How did you get it?"

Charles looked at the bustling port in the distance. After a few seconds of silence, he calmly told her everything that had happened on the island before.

After a moment of silence, Charles slowly said, "I don't hate you. To be honest, I am very happy that a beautiful woman likes me so much. But I'm sorry, I really have something important to do, so I can't agree."

Her expression suddenly turned cold, and she turned and walked into the hall. "That's not necessary. That's what my other eye meant, not mine. Just pretend nothing happened."

Charles used his finger ring to stop her, then took out a stack of papers from his arms and handed it to her.

Elizabeth opened it with a puzzled expression and began to read. As she saw the contents clearly, her eyes widened.

"There is fresh water on that island?!" Her voice became shrill because of extreme surprise.

"I have explored more than half of the island. There shouldn't be any major problems with other aspects. The most dangerous one is 1002. Its detailed information is written on it. As long as you find a way to solve it, that place will be a new island."

Elizabeth's hands began to tremble as she held the paper. She didn't expect the young man in front of her would actually give her the thing.

The value of the information in hand was beyond imagination. All the exploration ship captains risked their lives just for a living island, but Charles gave it to her so easily.

"If... if this is considered as the reward for my eyeballs helping you, then I can't take it!" Elizabeth tried hard to return the paper in her hand, but she couldn't move her hand.

"Take it. This thing is of little use to me. My goal is different from yours, and you were the first to land on this island, so it should be yours." After Charles finished speaking, he turned and walked towards the bustling port area.

Elizabeth stared blankly at Charles who was walking away, with a very complicated expression.

"Yes, we are such manly men. A living island is nothing. We would not even blink an eye if we gave it to you."

Charles heard the irony in Richard's words, "Elizabeth saved us on that island. I don't want to owe anyone anything. Besides, one ship is enough for us to explore the island."

"If you want to pay off the debt, you can pledge yourself to me! Do you think you are a domineering CEO? Give me an island right after a slap? An island! A living island!"

"1002 is not that easy to deal with. We don't have time to waste in a place like that. Don't forget that our goal is to return to the surface, not to dominate this damn place."

"That's too rash."

"So what do you want? To come back?"

Richard was silent for a while. "It's already been given away. It would be embarrassing to take it back..."

At this moment, Charles suddenly felt something strange in his body. He stretched out his left hand and threw a shifty-looking guy beside him onto the muddy ground.

The transparent tentacle reached out from the thief's hand and took the wallet back. Then he grabbed the thief's right hand, lifted it up, raised his foot and stepped hard on his forearm bone.

"Crack!" A miserable scream was heard, and the guy's bones turned into an L shape.

Seeing this guy's unlucky look, other people nearby moved away with horror on their faces.

Throwing the blind thief to the ground, he walked aimlessly on the street.

Fishermen carrying fishing nets, arrogant gang members, and sailors in groups of three or five, all of them were busy with their own affairs. Charles, walking among them, was like a reef in the rapids, seeming so out of place.

The doctor told him to rest, but he didn't know what rest meant. It had been a long time since he had completely relaxed.

This seemed to be even more difficult than exploring the island.
