Shrouded Seascape

Chapter 83: Humanity

These seemed to be the natives of the island. Charles had checked in the library that not all the natives of the wild islands were malicious. Some of them could be communicated with and even traded with.

"We have no ill intentions, can you let us out?" Charles spoke slowly in the Earthsea language.

The nasal creatures were motionless, as if they did not understand, and stood in the distance like dead objects.

Looking at the strange scene in front of him, Charles waved his hand back, asking the others to retreat. Since you don't understand, just leave first.

"Click" As soon as Charles raised his foot, all the nasal creatures jumped up with their noses twitching, and their black claws stretched out from their dry trunks.

"attack!!"

The gunshots suddenly became continuous, and the nasal creatures were quickly shot and fell into the water under the hail of bullets. Their number seemed endless, and they rushed towards this side densely.

The surroundings were in a mess, and the mud on the ground was stained with the purple blood of the nose-crawling creatures, but no matter how many casualties they suffered, they refused to retreat.

Seeing these strange things getting closer, Charles simply took out the lightning-shaped short stick in his arms.

"Sizzle!" A large arc of electric electricity swept over, and the nasal creatures twitched and fell into the water.

They died, and Charles and others were also in pain. The powerful electricity flowed through the muddy water under the water and was directed to everyone. Although it was far away, the crew members were still seriously injured, and everyone couldn't help twitching.

Charles was the first to recover. He looked up and found that all the nasal creatures in front of him were floating on the water. They were finally dead.

He leaned his back against the wall, breathing heavily. Although this relic was powerful, the side effects were really unpleasant.

No matter what these monsters are going to do, at least the problem has been solved temporarily.

"Break for three minutes and continue blowing up the wall." Charles' low voice echoed in this empty maze.

God knows if these things have any companions. We must leave this place as soon as possible.

At this moment, a pipe that was almost level with the water surface floated towards this side silently.

The underwater thing seemed not to want to disturb anyone, and slowly moved towards the corpses of the nasal creatures. However, Charles, who had night vision, saw it clearly and raised his hand to fire a shot directly in the direction of the pipe.

The tube sank quickly, and scarlet blood emerged from under the water. The pool of red blood quickly turned around and swam away quickly.

No matter what it was, Charles would not let it escape. He lifted his right foot from the mud and water and stomped hard on the wall. His whole body flew into the air and he rushed straight towards the pool of blood with the black blade in his hand.

With a "puff", the black blade fiercely pierced into the thing under the water, and more red blood appeared in the muddy water.

Charles exerted force on his wrist and lifted up the object underwater with the back of the knife.

It was a man, a blind old man with white eyeballs. The wounds on his naked body made his expression look extremely painful, but even so, he had no intention of making a sound. With trembling hands, he grabbed the handle of Charles' knife and pushed it hard.

Seeing that it was the same kind, Charles stopped attacking and turned to shout in the direction of his companions: "Doctor, come and treat him. Don't let him die."

Everyone gathered around and looked at the old man in front of them curiously. No one had expected that there were still living people in such a place.

"Can you understand me?" Charles asked the old man who was being riveted by the doctor.

The old man seemed frightened and quickly put his finger to his mouth, "Shh!! Keep your voice down, Torture will hear it!"

Charles looked carefully at the appearance of this strange old man. He was very thin, as thin as a skeleton covered with human skin. He shrank his neck and looked timid, as if he was ready to run away at any time.

Richard's voice sounded in his mind. "Dude, does this guy look like Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, the one who bit off the protagonist's finger in the finale?"

At this time, the doctor had cured the old man's injuries and he limped over to Charles.

"I just checked his body. It's a human, no doubt. Judging from his teeth, he's only in his forties. He's severely malnourished, and his skin shows signs of being soaked in water for a long time. He must have lived in this harsh place for a long time."

Charles's mind moved. Doesn't this mean that there are indigenous people on this island

"Do you know where the exit is?" Charles asked the old man the most important question.

When the old man heard this question, his dirty face suddenly lit up. "You guys just came in, right? Did you bring any food from outside?"

Charles didn't want to waste time, so he put the black blade against his neck and threatened: "You answer whatever I ask, understand?"

Feeling the murderous intent in Charles' words, the old man froze and nodded quickly.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

"My name is Blake. I heard you fighting with Stai, so I came here to steal some of Stai's food. Don't worry, all of Stai's food is yours. I don't want any of it."

Charles glanced at the corpses of the nose-walking monsters next to him. It seemed that this thing was the Stai in its mouth.

"Where is the exit of this maze?"

“There is no exit, so those who come in never leave.”

"No one has ever been out?"

"I don't know. Anyway, I've been here for more than 20 years, and I've never seen anyone leave."

"What was this torture you were talking about?"

"A kind of monster. It is the most powerful monster here and can never be killed. Once it catches us, it will get into our mouths and torture us in our stomachs. It feeds on our screams of pain."

"How big is this maze?"

"It's so big that no one has touched its borders. It's at least bigger than the British Isles."

Hearing this, Charles frowned slightly. He had checked before approaching the island. This island was obviously smaller than a coral island. How could this maze be bigger than the British Isle? You know, the British Isle is the largest island in the North Sea, with a permanent population of nearly 7 million.

Coupled with the thousands of meters long walls, Charles felt more and more that something was wrong with this maze.

Looking at the blind old man trembling in front of him, Charles didn't think he would lie to him.

"How many people are trapped like you in here?"

"Thousands, no, tens of thousands, I'm not sure. Most of them were tortured and captured, a small number escaped, there are more than a hundred people in the settlement I'm in."

"Have you seen a man wrapped in bandages around here?" Charles asked for information about his missing first mate. Maybe his disappearance was related to the humans here.

"Bandage? I can't see it, so I don't know what kind of bandage you're talking about, but half an hour ago, I seemed to hear something moving towards where I live."

Charles looked around at the empty space, turned Blake around, and gave him a gentle push. "Come on, take me to where you live."
