"Don't pay attention to those guys. They are all ignorant mortals. No matter how powerful they are, they are just low-level animals driven by desire. Only by finding the land of light and entering the kingdom of the God of Light can we humans obtain eternal happiness and peace."
It was rare for Charles to agree with what Cod said.
What’s the use of being so powerful? We are still trapped on these islands which may sink at any time. The reason they can endure the darkness is simply that they have never seen the light.
After Ke De and Charles exchanged information, they immediately sailed away. Looking at his anxious back, Charles felt as if he saw some of his past self.
As the hope of returning home grew closer, he became less anxious than he was at the beginning.
The next morning, Charles opened his eyes and found himself lying in an unknown bar again, with two revealing bunny girls in his arms.
He shook his dizzy head and walked out of the bar.
"Don't waste Echo in a place like this. Don't forget, we still have 3 million to buy a new arm." Charles said to another personality in his mind.
"How much does it cost to book a cheap place like this? Don't bother me. I'm tired."
Charles looked around and walked towards the Bat Hotel which now belonged to him. He needed to take his drawing board to continue sketching to reduce mental pollution.
When he got home, he found an unexpected person sitting on the sofa. It was the doctor.
"How did you get in? I don't think I gave you the key."
"Your rat opened the door for me."
Lily, who was standing on the pillow, nodded repeatedly, with an expression that looked like she was about to praise me.
"Is there a problem?"
The doctor jumped off the sofa and limped outside. "Come with me. I have contacted the guys who sell prosthetic limbs. They want to meet with you."
Upon hearing this, Charles immediately put down the drawing board in his hand. No one likes to lose an arm, and he was no exception.
Charles followed the doctor into a car and drove towards the island.
The Coral Island is neither big nor small. The car drove around various streets and alleys for more than an hour and finally arrived at the extremely prosperous island center.
Compared to the chaotic port area, the island center area is a completely different scene.
In this place, expensive electric lights are displayed openly on the street. The beggars, lunatics and homeless children in the port have been replaced by polite gentlemen, ladies with dogs, and a constant stream of private cars.
A beautiful song came from the phonograph in the high-end store next door. Charles glanced at a pair of sky blue leather shoes behind the glass. "Shark Piano men's high heels, priced at 35,000 echoes."
The dirty doctor and the one-armed Charles walked on the street, seeming so out of place with the surrounding environment that this inharmoniousness soon attracted other people's attention.
"Beep! Beep!" Two tall law enforcers in black uniforms whistled and walked over in a dignified manner.
"Hey! You two, stop right there! Those who are not properly dressed are not allowed to enter the island center area! What if the big shots see how poor you are and it hurts their feelings!"
The doctor holding the wine jug stepped back half a step and let Charles out.
Charles didn't even bother to say anything and took out the certificate for his application to become an explorer.
As soon as he saw the anchor mark of the Explorers Association, the expression on his face instantly changed from contempt to taboo with a hint of fear.
"I... I'm telling you, don't mess around here. The gentlemen on the Governor's warship are also living nearby."
As soon as they finished speaking, the two men turned and left in a panic, and the sound of their conversation continued to reach Charles's keen ears from outside.
"Stop talking nonsense, get someone to keep an eye on them. If they cause any trouble, it will be hard for us all!"
Seeing that the minor trouble was resolved, the doctor continued to move forward. He walked on the busy street for about half a quarter of an hour and finally stopped in front of an upscale cafe in the center of the island.
The colorful glass wind chimes in the cafe rang, and the doctor and Charles came into the bright and clean house.
Ignoring the customers in suits and ties who looked surprised, the doctor walked straight to the kitchen in the back.
In the kitchen, the baker was concentrating on outlining the small cakes, as if he didn't notice the two people coming in.
“Why would the prosthetics manufacturer choose this place?”
"Humph, that's just part of their business. They know a lot more than just that."
Behind the stuffy kitchen was an empty room. In the middle of the room sat an elderly woman wearing reading glasses and reading a newspaper in a rocking chair.
Wearing half-frame reading glasses and wearing elderly-style clothes with large floral patterns, this old lady looks like a kind grandmother.
"Hey, Uren asked us to come." The doctor said sternly to the old lady.
The old lady looked at Charles' empty left sleeve, nodded, stood up from the rocking chair, and walked slowly towards the kitchen.
"She's the one who made my prosthetic limbs?"
The doctor didn't turn around when he heard the words behind him. He took out the iron wine flask and took a sip. "No, it was made by Wu Lun from Black Leaf Island."
"Black Leaf Island? It takes at least three months to get to the Coral Island from there. I can't wait that long."
"Of course I know you're impatient. Don't worry, just wait and see. They have the ability to expand their business throughout Haize. Of course they have their own ways."
After hearing this, Charles stopped talking. He was very curious about how the man could help himself install the prosthesis when no one was around.
The kitchen door was opened again, and the old lady came back with a simple cloth bag in her hand.
"You two, please step back." She said, opening her toothless mouth.
When she saw Charles and the doctor standing by the wall, she slowly squatted down, touched some black slimy substance in the cloth bag with her wrinkled right hand, and began to draw on the ground.
Various complex unknown black characters were drawn by her fingers. The characters were closely arranged, eventually forming a mysterious magic circle with a circle outside and an inverted triangle inside.
A tattered stuffed bear toy was placed in the middle of the magic circle. The old woman then took out a few black candles and placed them around the stuffed bear in a certain pattern.
A crude and obscure spell came out of her mouth, and a hair-tingling feeling instantly enveloped the entire room.
The spell started out slow and then became faster, with the old lady's voice becoming increasingly louder. Finally, the spell came to an abrupt end at the highest point.
The candlelight flickered, and suddenly went out at once. The stuffed bear doll on the ground stood up swayingly.
Its eyes, made of black fruit cores, glanced at the people in the room.
