"Although the Tao of the World says that there are different routes to the same goal, if they don't understand or agree with each other, then the Tao will not have a result." Some monks said indifferently.
Cihang Bodhisattva said: "On the Dao is not to discuss a result, but to explain their own views on the Dao, brainstorming, and learn from each other. It is not about changing the way you practice, but improving."
After hearing this, some people nodded unceasingly and agreed with Cihang Bodhisattva's statement.
"There is a big difference between Buddhism and Taoism in essence, and there are also big differences in cultivation methods. How can this learn from each other?" An older generation of monks said.
Someone said: "As the saying goes, Taoism is different and does not seek each other. How can Buddhism and Taoism coexist?"
Facing such questioning, Bodhisattva Cihang’s expression remained unchanged. She slowly said, “The cultivation methods are different, but the cultivation methods can be used for reference, and the experience of cultivation can also be discussed with each other.”
"For example, can my method of cultivating Buddhism also be used in cultivating Taoism? Which method is effective? Naturally, which method is used, and why is there a distinction between Buddhism and Taoism?"
"Furthermore, although the Tao is different, but the purpose is the same, so there is still the possibility of coexistence, it just depends on whether you have this heart."
Cihang Bodhisattva answered all questions in an orderly manner, and every answer was justified and convincing.
After Ye Chen heard this, he thought for a while, and then had an idea, and said to the quicksand on the side: "Brother Quicksand, why don't you say a word?"
Quicksand closed his eyes and seemed to listen very seriously. After hearing Ye Chen's words, he slowly opened his eyes, pondered for a moment and said: "It is a discussion between Taoism and Buddhism, so why should I interrupt? , This kind of debate is also very good, it has opened up my mind a lot."
Ye Chen knew that Quicksand had always been pondering by himself, had not seen any monks, and didn't know much about cultivation, let alone broadened his vision and thinking.
"Then Brother Liusha, what do you think?" Ye Chen asked more interestedly after hearing this.
Liu Sha said: "I know that cultivating Buddhism is different from cultivating Taoism. I used to think it was the same. When I heard it today, it seems that there is a big difference."
Ye Chen couldn't help but smile when he heard that, and he didn't mean to ridicule. Before Quicksand was a beggar, that was the lowest existence among mortals in the human world, not to mention those monks who went to heaven and earth, even the nobles among mortals could not see By the time, naturally, I didn't know much about Xiuxian.
"There is a fundamental difference between Buddhism and Taoism. Naturally, there is a big difference. If the difference is small, there will be no two names." Ye Chen smiled lightly.
Quicksand said: "But it sounds like Buddhism and Taoism go to the same destination by different paths. The world is so big, whether it is Buddhism or Taoism, it is derived from the world. To a certain extent, they are in the same vein."
Ye Chen had a refreshing feeling when he heard what the quicksand said. They had never thought about such a statement. When they heard it today, they felt that it made a lot of sense.
"Brother Liusha's words are not unreasonable, but although you can say that, how easy is it to be integrated?" Ye Chen thought about it again, and then smiled indifferently.
Quicksand said: "Actually, this is also a fixed mindset. I haven't practiced for a long time. I am not very clear about many concepts, let alone deep in my heart. That's why I have such a simple idea."
Ye Chen's heart was greatly shaken after hearing this. Could the irreconcilable contradiction between Buddhism and Taoism be the fixed thinking
Ye Chen now feels more and more that chatting with Quicksand can bring more unexpected gains. Some of the ideas of Quicksand are really impossible for them to think about. The reason may be just as Liusha said, his own practice time is not long, know Let's make it simple.
Sometimes some of the truths are actually very simple, but people think about it too profoundly, and cause trouble for themselves, and finally get into a dead end and can't get out.
It is for the sake of simplicity, so that the ideal of Tao will not be too profound, and it will not agree to go to a dead end!
Ye Chen was wondering, did he have a dead end in some things? Did he complicate simple things
Between the two chats, the debate between the Bodhisattva Cihang and many monks was almost complete. The Bodhisattva Cihang had always been calm and reasonable, and the monks of the Taoist monks couldn't fault it. Come.
In addition, Cihang Bodhisattva is so outstanding, such as a fairy who doesn't mess with dust, it has some advantages.
Seeing that the debate between Buddhism and Taoism was almost over, Liusha planned to speak, but he was silent again, as if it was brewing, and it took a while before he really spoke.
"The Bodhisattva Cihang is polite." Liusha stood up and saluted the Bodhisattva Cihang very respectfully. All the people present turned their eyes to the quicksand.
The dressing of the quicksand really seemed a bit innocent, and the clothes covered in dust made the monks present show a look of contempt.
But Cihang Bodhisattva did not look down on the slightest look. She still looked at the quicksand with a faint smile. Looking at the dressing of the quicksand, she naturally saw that the quicksand is a walker at a glance, so she said slightly: "This walker has something to say. Please sit down and say."
Quicksand is still standing, looking more serious and formal. He said: "Cihang Bodhisattva, the child of Dharma name is Quicksand, I have not been practicing Dharma for a long time. I used to be a beggar, and I studied Dharma by myself. Your debates have opened the eyes of the disciples."
Cihang Bodhisattva did not speak. She waited for the quicksand to continue to speak: "Buddhism has strict rules and many precepts, and the Western Regions are also called the Western Paradise. Since it is the Paradise, why should there be so many precepts? Constraints are so happy."
After hearing this, the Bodhisattva Cihang smiled and said: "Buddhism pays attention to no desire and no demand. It is precisely because there is no desire and no demand that people will be happy. If there are too many desires and not get, they will inevitably be anxious, and life will definitely not be fast. If there is no desire and appeal, naturally there will be no hardship. This is bliss."
Quicksand said: "Since you are a human, how come you have no desires and no desires, Bodhisattva, do you have no desires?"
Cihang Bodhisattva shook his head and said, "Since I am a Bodhisattva, I naturally have no desires and desires."
"Then what are you talking about today?" Quicksand asked.
The question of quicksand really made people stunned for a while, and then everyone realized it at once, and their eyes fell on the Bodhisattva Cihang, wanting to see what the Bodhisattva Cihang said.
Even Maha Gaya frowned slightly, this question was really sharp.
The Bodhisattva Cihang smiled unchanged, and said, "I'm going to teach the Fa, just to let the Buddha and the Tao coexist and to promote the Buddha's Tao."
"Can the promotion of Buddhism be understood as a kind of desire?" Quicksand asked in desperation.
Hearing this, the Bodhisattva Cihang didn't answer immediately. He seemed to be thinking about it, and finally said dumbly: "According to this, it is indeed the case."
Quicksand did not look happy. He still asked calmly: "Therefore, it is impossible for people to have no desire. The Bodhisattva said to promote the Dharma is desire, and we want to cultivate to be stronger is also desire... As long as we want, then Desire is sprouting, so if you want to have no desires, you must have no thoughts."
"However, people have thoughts, so it is impossible to achieve desirelessness."
After Quicksand finished speaking, all the Buddhist disciples present were stunned. These words indeed sounded very reasonable.
Cihang Bodhisattva didn't speak, Mahagaye said: "Even if you have desires, as a Buddhist disciple, you can still restrain it. This is what makes Buddhism different from other monks."
Quicksand said: "The more the spring is compressed, the greater the rebound force. Moreover, since it is a paradise, if you blindly suppress it, you will be less happy, so this is very contradictory."
Mahakaya had nothing to say.
"Then what do you think we should cultivate in Buddhism?" Cihang Bodhisattva asked rhetorically.
Quicksand blurted out this time, as if all the words had been brewed hundreds of times in his heart.
"Human nature should be followed, and it should not be done deliberately. Only by showing the true heart can good and evil change. After all, good people are good, and evil people are still evil."
"The reason why people are unhappy is because there are too many hidden things, the glory of human nature cannot be released, and some things cannot be exposed but can only be hidden, so they are unhappy. Those high-ranking officials are high above and rich in wealth, are they carefree? Those who live at the bottom are busy all day long, just to eat three meals a day, are they suffering? It’s not necessarily true."
"Life is short, so you should let go of your nature and do what you should do. Why should you be constrained by morality and imprisoned by your thoughts? Good and evil will be rewarded in the end. Righteousness in the world is the vicissitudes of life."
Quicksand’s words were not rushed, and slowly led to his own point of view. He continued: “Just like me, I wanted to drink and eat meat when I was a beggar. What I want to do."
"This kind of thing does not affect my practice of Buddhism, nor does it affect me to be kind, nor does it affect my mood for the day."
When the words of Quicksand fell, the faces of the Buddhist disciples present changed drastically, and they began to discuss.
As a disciple of Buddhism, drinking and eating meat is simply a big taboo of Buddhism. This is a big treason.
When Mahakaya heard this, his brows were also frowned. These words were really shocking to him, and they had subverted all their beliefs about Buddhism.
"This is simply a scum from Buddhism. No wonder if you say such a thing, you must be severely punished."
"Who is the master of this traveler? It's a treachery! Unforgivable." The faces of many Buddhist disciples were filled with indignation.
