Stealing The Wind But Not The Moon

Chapter 19

Chu Shichen couldn't sleep anymore when he returned to his room.

This was the first time he had done something wrong since he became a secretary, and it was so embarrassing.

He couldn't help but imagine the scene where Xiang Mingzhang was waiting for him to rescue him, but was left alone at the banquet, and he actually felt a hint of laughter.

He was certainly wrong, but Xiang Mingzhang has repeatedly emphasized that he is not a gentleman, so it is understandable that he has biased thoughts, right

Chu Shichen tossed and turned in bed and barely fell asleep in the middle of the night. Fortunately, the schedule for the next day was not too tight, so he could sleep a little longer.

The first thing Chu Shichen did when he woke up was to check his mailbox. There was a document sent by Xiang Mingzhang at three in the morning. He washed up, changed his clothes, and went to the hotel's copy room to print two copies as requested.

There was a small exchange in the coffee shop this morning, with four or five companies participating, all of which are leading enterprises with a certain voice. Yesterday's seminar was equivalent to screening and preparation.

Chu Shichen packed up and went to Xiang Mingzhang's room. He knocked on the door and took a deep breath while waiting.

People tend to be shy when they are embarrassed. He kept his upright posture, opened the door, and went straight to the office area without looking around, packed the computer and carried it. Xiang Mingzhang leaned against the floor-standing screen with his elbows folded. He was not wearing a suit and looked particularly relaxed. He asked, "Have you printed the documents?"

"It's all bound and in the bag." Chu Shichen glanced at his watch. "The driver should be downstairs."

Maybe it was because of the red wine, Xiang Mingzhang slept very well, and said energetically: "Let's go."

They arrived at a street-side coffee shop on time and booked the entire second floor in advance. There were no outsiders present, and everyone got down to business after exchanging pleasantries.

Chu Shichen sat behind Xiang Mingzhang on his right hand side, accompanying him as a secretary and taking notes. The core of the communication was still the issue of "billing model", but it was more in-depth.

He listened carefully and understood a lot of the parts of the material that he didn't understand.

Among this group of elites, some talked loudly, some made sharp rebuttals. Xiang Mingzhang did not speak for the first twenty minutes, as if he was just drinking coffee among them.

Until someone urged him to call him "Mr. Xiang", Xiang Mingzhang put down his cup, smiled and replied in a very gentlemanly manner, "I don't deserve it".

Chu Shichen created a new blank page to prepare for recording.

Xiang Mingzhang leaned back slightly in his chair, his posture comfortable and arrogant. He held two meetings a day on average, and the thing he couldn't stand the most was someone blabbering 800 words into 2,000 words. Did he think it was the principal's speech at the opening ceremony

"Xiang Yue acquired a company not long ago," Xiang Mingzhang said, "in the medical field."

Chu Shichen couldn't help but look sideways. With Yisi's current situation, it was far from being qualified to be compared with these companies. He listened to Xiang Mingzhang attentively.

The most basic profit model is that the company does a project and the client pays. Yisi mainly makes customer management systems and is deeply involved in the medical field. Over the years, it has accumulated and mastered a huge amount of industry data.

For technology companies, the value of data is incalculable. By leveraging data advantages, they can provide more value to customers and seek deeper cooperation.

With further development, we will get involved in the supply chain of vertical fields, such as medical, manufacturing, and catering industries, to get a share of the trillion-dollar market, rather than just making a fine spoon.

Xiang Mingzhang took Yisi as an example and briefly expressed his ideas. His principles of communication are the same as those for making plans: avoid castles in the air, dress up as a person, and be down-to-earth in doing things.

Chu Shichen was still unsatisfied and didn't listen much to the second half of the discussion. He kept thinking about what Xiang Mingzhang said.

Regarding Yisi, if he had not ruined a good hand, to what extent would things have developed

Is there any chance to turn defeat into victory with this bad hand

After leaving the coffee shop, Xiang Mingzhang had been sitting for too long and wanted to take a walk to stretch his legs. Chu Shichen followed him closely and gradually walked side by side with Xiang Mingzhang.

The tiny shadows of the trees swayed on the ground. Chu Shichen stepped on them and suddenly asked, "Mr. Xiang, will you take me with you on your next business trip?"

Xiang Mingzhang asked: "Aren't you tired?"

"Not tired." Chu Shichen said, "I've benefited a lot from going out with you."

Xiang Mingzhang said: "If I remember correctly, this is the first time you have praised me. People who are courteous either have bad intentions or they have something to ask for. Which one are you?"

Chu Shichen smiled and said, "Is it not okay for me to simply praise you without any distractions?"

Xiang Mingzhang stood still, turned sideways and faced Chu Shichen, and looked at him playfully: "Secretary Chu, you seem to be in a good mood."

Chu Shichen also stopped, his smile faded slightly, and asked under the bright sunshine: "When you used Yisi as an example, were you feeling pity or looking forward to it?"

Xiang Mingzhang replied: "A mixture of both."

Since there was half an expectation, the situation was not bad.

Chu Shichen nodded solemnly: "With your words, my expectations are greater than the pity."

There was no need for them to be too explicit with each other, just enough to keep the point. They continued walking forward, passing by a gift shop, and Chu Shichen wanted to go in for a look.

One always has to buy some gifts when going on a business trip. Chu Shichen thought about it and since there were only women in his family, he chose Yunjin based on their preferences. Qian Hua loved playing, so he bought a box of Yuhua stones.

He also bought some tea and pressed duck, but the quantity was so large that he just filled in the address and sent it by express.

It was written that it was Xiang Yue Office Building, and it should be distributed to colleagues. Xiang Mingzhang said, "It's all food. Are you going to have a tea party when you get back?"

Chu Shichen said: "Business trips for the sales department are commonplace. It is not realistic to bring gifts every time. We can buy some food, eat some duck and drink some tea. After eating and drinking, people won't remember it for long, so it won't be a burden."

At this time, the waiter packed five gift boxes and brought them over. Xiang Mingzhang asked, "Who are these for?"

Chu Shichen replied: "There were five colleagues of Xiang Yue on the night of the yacht accident. This is for them."

This meticulous and thoughtful attitude contained sincerity, Xiang Mingzhang felt inferior and said, "Secretary Chu, this is gone now, right?"

After last night's blunder, Chu Shichen was wary of acting on his own again.

He asked, "Do you want to buy some gifts for Mr. Xiang and your mother?"

Unexpectedly, Xiang Mingzhang responded calmly: "Forget it, she doesn't care."

Chu Shichen didn't interfere. It was difficult to guess what the boss was thinking. When to prepare for a rainy day and when to play deaf and dumb, subordinates had to keep trying and making mistakes.

At present, in terms of family and the opposite sex, it is the latter that should be done. Xiang Mingzhang is resourceful and worldly-wise, but he seems too lazy to manage these two most intimate relationships.

In the afternoon, Xiang Mingzhang was invited to visit a foreign company.

This company is called UT, which specializes in hardware and has cooperation intentions with Xiang Yue. The person in charge of the reception was Owen, the president of the China region. He spoke fluent Chinese and gave a warm introduction throughout the whole process.

After the tour, they went to Irving's office, a semi-open area with dozens of photos of various sizes hanging on the wall. Irving had served in four countries and had taken many commemorative photos.

Chu Shichen scanned them one by one and his eyes stopped on one of the photos - in the photo, Owen was wearing a graduation gown, with a historic red-walled building behind him.

He stared intently, and what he saw in this era was both intimate and magical.

Owen said: "Secretary Chu, it seems that you like this photo very much."

Chu Shichen asked in high spirits, "Did you graduate from the University of Pennsylvania?"

Owen said in surprise, "You too?"

Chu Shichen was slightly startled: "No..." He denied it, looking away, and used a perfect smile to cover up all emotional changes, "I'm not."

Xiang Mingzhang watched it all clearly. Chu Shichen's momentary disappointment was as if he had just woken up from a dream, and his decency at this moment seemed like he was just trying to show off.

He found it strange, but Chu Shichen really had nothing to do with Penn, or any famous school at all. He changed the subject and said, "The first computer was invented at Penn."

After chatting for another half an hour, they left UT and the two-day business trip officially ended.

I went back to the hotel to check out, and when I got on the road it was rush hour, and Xuanwu Avenue was so congested that I couldn't see the end.

Chu Shichen sat in the last row of the business car, next to the window, taking the opportunity to take another look at the city's street scene.

The driver looked at him in the rearview mirror and said, "Secretary Chu is reluctant to leave."

Chu Shichen said: "It is dusk, so beautiful."

"The main street is just so-so," the driver said. "Xuanwu Lake is not far away, and the scenery over there is really beautiful."

Chu Shichen had never been to Xuanwu Lake, so he asked, "Is there only one lake?"

"It's just a lake, it's a big park." The driver laughed, "It's a pity that you and Mr. Xiang are too busy and don't have time to go shopping."

Chu Shichen sighed softly: "Business is more important, come back when you have the chance."

Xiang Mingzhang could sense a lot of regret. He had been to Nanjing many times, so it was not new to him. So he did not want to stay longer after he was done. Since the traffic was so bad that he could not move, he had to travel at night, so it was not a big deal to delay him for an hour or two.

He turned around and asked, "Do you want to go to the park?"

The driver took them there and stopped to eat. Xiang Mingzhang and Chu Shichen entered Xuanwu Lake Park.

It was a nice early summer day with lots of people. White and yellow duck boats were floating on the lake, and the cool breeze cleared my mind of all the trivial things.

Chu Shichen leaned on the railing by the lake. As far as the eye could see, there was a distant lake, brand new and lovely boats, and new scenes everywhere on this ancient land.

The park was too big to walk around it all, so he felt satisfied just blending into the crowd.

Time is limited, Chu Shichen remembered that Mrs. Chu asked him to take a photo, so he said, "Mr. Xiang, please take a commemorative photo for me."

Xiang Mingzhang asked: "Where was it filmed?"

The wind was strong by the lake, the chapel was crowded, and the stone statue of the Lotus Fairy was too far away. Chu Shichen walked through a Metasequoia forest, where each Metasequoia tree was straight, lush, and tall.

The lush green surrounds everything, like a net woven with vitality.

Chu Shichen stopped and wanted to take pictures here.

Xiang Mingzhang raised his phone and focused the camera. The square screen framed half of Chu Shichen's body. His white shirt and green trees were clearer than the rippling lake water.

There was only one bad thing, he said: "Look at the camera."

Chu Shichen stared at her, taking the first photo in this period of time with his mobile phone. He was nervous and hesitant, and even forgot to smile.

Xiang Mingzhang said: "Eggplant."

Chu Shichen opened his lips slightly and said "ah" in confusion.

Click, Xiang Mingzhang pressed the shutter button, not knowing whether to praise his skills or the photo, he whispered: "Okay, it's a beautiful shot."
