The birth of Tail Hook actually stems from a sentence my friend said at the very beginning of the serialization of Advent. She said, what should I do? I suddenly fell in love with Lang Feng, a plain and good man.
As for the character of Lang Feng, I did construct him as a foil at the beginning. Chen Jiayu is a child of destiny who seems to live a carefree life, while Lang Feng is a true child of destiny who is favored by fate. He is a supporting role, an outsider, and his frankness reflects the constraints of the insiders. Later, I would also wonder, what kind of person would he fall in love with? The more I thought about it, the character Zhou Qichen popped up in my mind, and the more I constructed it, the more his story attracted me. My desire to express myself was about to burst, and I must write their story. From the beginning, I knew that the focus of this article was on Xiao Zhou. Whoever had more knots and longer articles would slowly unravel them throughout the story. I try to tell something new in every article. Through "Tail Hook", a new point I really want to write is the different thinking patterns caused by cultural differences, and the differences, communication, understanding, and love based on this.
There are many unsatisfactory aspects of this article. Compared with "Arrival", it is more like a love diary. There was a lack of overall planning at the beginning, and there was an extreme lack of time for creation in the middle and late stages of serialization, which affected the coherence of the plot and emotions. After writing "Arrival", I didn't realize that I actually needed a break and adjustment, and I started a new project directly. In fact, at that time, I should have understood that the most difficult part of writing is not expression but restraint. This is probably what I will always reflect on and pay attention to in the future.
So, I am very grateful to those who have been following the series and waiting for updates. Thank you to everyone who commented and liked my posts. Special thanks to Roast Duck, Zhizhi and Zizi for their inspiration, support and help. Thank you all for helping me finish another story I wanted to write.
Xiao Zhou's life is full of people who "say half of the words and swallow the rest of the words". The difference between him and them is probably that he said the words out loud. What he wanted, he went after. When I started writing, I didn't think of a sentence to summarize this article, but one day when I was writing at two o'clock in the morning, I suddenly felt it and a sentence flashed in my mind. Written in the fifth century BC, it shook my soul when I first heard it, and it still shakes me when I think about it now.
The secret of happiness is freedom, and the secret of freedom is courage.
