During the Five Barbarians' Invasion of China, there was chaos in the north.
Because the Hu people were brutal by nature and their behavior was outrageous, their unscrupulous massacres and barbaric and brutal anti-human behavior led to a serious decrease in the Chinese population and a decline in human ethics.
Some scholars call it "Yongjia Rebellion", "Central Plains Sinking", "Shenzhou Sinking", "Central Plains Falling", etc. Historians generally believe that this period was a disaster for the Han nationality, which almost wiped out the race.

In 304 AD, Murong Xianbei plundered the Central Plains, looted countless wealth, and abducted tens of thousands of Han girls. Murong Xianbei could not eat them all, but did not want to let them go, so he drowned all 8,000 girls, and the Yishui River stopped flowing.
Historical records show that the Jie army never carried food and fodder when marching and fighting, and they specialized in abducting Han women as military rations. The Jie called them "two-legged sheep", meaning slaves and livestock that walked on two legs and were driven like sheep. The soldiers raped them at night and slaughtered and cooked them during the day.
Ran Min, who grew up among the Hu people, either because of power or because he suddenly had an epiphany, overthrew the Jie Zhao in one fell swoop, proclaimed himself emperor and founded a country with the reign title of Yongxing and the name of the country Da Wei, known in history as Ran Wei. He issued the "Order to Kill the Hu" and sent letters to various places, calling on the Han people to rise up and kill the Hu people for revenge. According to historical records, people from all over the country received Min's order and executed them.
Unfortunately, the original text of the "Kill the Hu Order" has not been preserved in its entirety. The following is a rough outline of what has been handed down:
The barbarians have bullied the Han people for decades, killing our people and seizing our ancestral temples. I am here to punish them. Those who offend the Han people will be killed. Kill all the barbarians in the world. To restore the foundation of the Han Dynasty, all Han people in the world have the obligation to kill the barbarians. Ran Min is not talented, but I have received the mandate from heaven. I am here to announce this to the world. I order them to be divided into three groups.
The first "Order to Kill the Hu" was issued by Ran Min after he imprisoned Shi Jian, the emperor of Later Zhao, in Yecheng. It stated that "anyone among the six barbarians inside and outside the country who dares to hold weapons will be beheaded", which means that all Hu people who dare to hold weapons will be killed.
The second "Kill the Hu Order": Those who agree with the officials can stay, and those who disagree can leave. This order seems simple, but it is actually very difficult to understand. How can one agree with the officials and how can one disagree with them? The official did not make an official explanation, and no one knew what the correct implementation was. They could only follow their own ideas.
The third order: All Han people who kill a Hu person will be promoted to a higher position based on the number of heads they kill.
The Ran Wei regime did not last for many years. During this period, Ran Min experienced six fierce battles:
In the first battle, 3,000 Han cavalrymen broke into the Xiongnu camp at night, killed several enemy generals, chased them for a hundred miles, and cut off 30,000 Xiongnu heads;
In another battle, 5,000 Han cavalrymen defeated 70,000 Hu cavalrymen.
In the third battle, 70,000 Han troops plus 40,000 Qihuo rebels defeated the Hu coalition forces of more than 300,000.
Four battles, first defeated, then victorious, with ten thousand men killing forty thousand Hu heads;
In five battles, the Han army of 60,000 almost completely wiped out the Qiang-Di coalition army of more than 100,000.
In the sixth battle, they had less than 10,000 infantrymen to defeat Murong Xianbei's 140,000 cavalrymen, but they did not retreat but advanced!
At the end of the sixth battle, under the cover of the Ran Wei soldiers who fought desperately to break out, Ran Min killed more than 300 people and finally broke out of the encirclement, but the Zhulong horse, which was as brave as Ran Min, fell down due to excessive fatigue. Ran Min was captured, and his men were still mechanically fighting the enemy and covering other important officials who followed the army to evacuate the battlefield, killing until the last man...
After Xianbei Murong Ke (Mo Rongfu's ancestor) captured Ran Min, he presented him to the king Murong Jun. Murong Jun mocked Ran Min: "You only have the ability of a slave. How dare you call yourself the Son of Heaven?"
Ran Min said angrily: "The world is in chaos, and you barbarians and beasts are calling yourself emperor, let alone the heroes of China!"
Murong Jun was furious and ordered his men to whip him 300 times. Then he was sent to Longcheng and beheaded at Exing Mountain.
According to historical records, after Ran Min's death, the grass and trees within seven miles of the mountain withered, locusts swarmed, and no rain fell from the sky from May to December. Murong Jun was shocked and sent people to offer sacrifices, posthumously conferring the title of Wudao Tianwang on Ran Min. On that day, heavy snow fell from the sky, reaching above people's knees.
After Ran Min's death, the ministers of the Ran Wei State were extremely desperate. They committed suicide one after another. A small number of them fled to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and none of them surrendered to the Former Yan State.
Later, the Northern Wei Dynasty (Xianbei Dynasty) that ruled the north severely criticized Ran Min in history books, and later generations could only compile the information based on the previous leftovers.
Therefore, some historians emphasize Ran Min's killing of the Hu people without explaining the reasons why Ran Min killed the Hu people. This is especially true of some Taoist scholars who always shout that China is a great country and the Celestial Empire, and that people should be open-minded and magnanimous, and should not be petty, vindictive, or narrow-minded, so as not to be ridiculed by the barbarians.
In addition, Ran Min was raised by the Hu people, but he not only usurped the throne and destroyed the Later Zhao, but also issued an order to exterminate the Hu people. This was simply an act of disloyalty, unfilial piety, unkindness and injustice. How could he be accepted by Taoist scholars!
Whether he is a Han hero or a butcher in troubled times who kills people like crazy!
