The Human Cub’s Guide to Wasteland Survival

Chapter 22

The space was so large that Yan Bubu felt insignificant. Several searchlights shone directly downward from the curved rock dome, illuminating the three oval buildings lined up in the middle.

These are three huge buildings made of steel, each with hundreds of floors, covering a large area and looking majestic. There are densely packed rooms around the buildings, many of which are lit up, making them look like three huge glowing beehives.

Each floor of the building is surrounded by a long corridor. On the left side, there is a floor transport elevator that goes up and down, stopping at one of the floors to take in and out some people.

Yan Bubu's face was pressed against the gap between the iron bars, staring intently. He asked softly, "Master, is this the underground resettlement site?"

Feng Chen also stared ahead, the light reflected in his eyes, causing his dark pupils to pass through various lights and shadows: "Yes, this is the underground resettlement site. The three buildings you see now are called beehives."

The transporter continued to descend and finally stopped on the ground. After the two people stepped out of the platform, it creaked and rose into the air again.

This is a small open space next to the beehive, with a small plastic-board bungalow built there, and the words "Reception Center" are posted on the door.

The two entered the reception center, and a soldier sitting at a table looked up and asked, "How many people?"

"two."

"age."

"He is six years old and I will be thirteen soon." Feng Chen said.

The soldier then raised his eyelids and glanced at him, muttering, "You're this big at thirteen, you didn't lie about your age, did you?"

"No."

The soldier took out two cards and pushed them to the table. "These are two credit cards. Keep them. Once you enter the underground settlement, you can no longer use the coins you used before. All you have to spend are the credit points on the cards. Do you understand? This means that no matter how much money you have, it will be useless here. The money on these cards is all you have."

Feng Chen took the two cards in his hand and said, "Understood."

The soldier pressed the button on the table again and said into the intercom, "Wu You, a newcomer has arrived. Take him to your A Nest C area for placement."

"Yes." The person on the other end of the intercom replied.

Soon a thin middle-aged man walked in. He was not from the Western Alliance Army. He was wearing a white vest with sweat stains. As soon as he came in, he smiled at the soldiers.

Soldier: "Administrator Wu, these are two minors. Take them to Area C, which is under your charge."

"No problem." Wu You quickly looked at Feng Chen and Yan Bubu and said, "Let's go, follow me to Area C."

Walking in the open space outside the reception center, Feng Chen looked around.

It was a square with a bottom of dark black rock, and scattered about were tall landing gears and some industrial vehicles.

There are three beehives in the middle of the square, and separate buildings are built around them. A railway track winds forward and extends into the cave wall in the distance. Several small steam-powered mine cars loaded with ore come and go on the track.

"Those pipes next to it are the drainage system of the resettlement site. No matter how much water there is, they can drain it away cleanly." Wu You took the initiative to introduce the surroundings: "Over there is the military building and the medical station. The small building next to us is the Lishi generator room."

Feng Chen knew that the drainage system at the resettlement site was quite powerful, and that the site was specifically chosen on the Lishi mining belt, which would ensure an inexhaustible supply of electricity.
