On the 65th floor of Area C of Nest A, Chu Shizheng strode towards the safe stairs with a gloomy face. His men hid behind a shelter made of iron cabinets and exchanged fire with the soldiers. The sound of gunfire continued.
"Retreat, go downstairs." The men threw a bomb in the direction of the soldiers, and they all quickly fled into the safe stairs.
"It's so unlucky. Didn't they say that there was no other way out of the underground resettlement site, which would have drowned everyone inside? But there turned out to be an emergency passage. I've never heard of it before. Moreover, we didn't find the kid from the Feng family, and instead lost several brothers." A subordinate muttered as he walked.
Although his voice was low, the foundation stone in front of him suddenly stopped and turned to stare at him. His men were immediately silent, too frightened to say a word.
Chushi pointed outside the Beehive Building and said, "They are all there."
Through a layer of water curtain pouring down from the upper building, you can see a bright light halfway up a mountain wall in the distance, and there is a crowd of people gathering.
"They built the emergency passage high up. Do you know where it leads to at the end?" asked Chushi.
All the men shook their heads.
"It leads to Haiyun Tower." Chushi gave the answer, and then asked: "Do you know how long this passage is?"
Haiyun Tower was not far from the resettlement site, only separated by two long streets, less than a mile away, so the subordinate asked tentatively: "One mile long?"
"No." Chushi raised his mechanical arm and spread out his five metal fingers. "It's five miles."
With a crisp sound, a bullet was shot down from above and hit the handrail next to the stairs. The Western Alliance soldiers had already rushed into the safety stairs and chased down, so everyone hurried down again.
The flood was still pouring in, and the entire underground fortress was in chaos. The soldiers were busy guiding the evacuation of the crowd, and there were not many people to fight them, so they were not in a hurry.
There was constant sound of gunfire behind them. When they reached the 50th floor, Jishi made a gesture and asked the others to continue going down, while he and Adai hid behind the wall.
When the team of soldiers chased after him, the wolf appeared out of thin air beside him and flashed away like a shadow.
The soldier at the front suddenly screamed, a bloody hole appeared on his neck, and he fell to the ground. The other soldiers didn't have time to react, and fell down with a burst of dense gunfire.
Chu Shi cleared out the pursuers, climbed over the banister of the stairs and landed on the next floor, where he caught up with his men. The wolf followed closely beside him.
The group continued to move down, and Jishi continued the topic he had started with: "The lichen ore is not hard, but the lichen ore veins are surrounded by a layer of hard black steel stone. In order to ensure a continuous power supply, the East-West Allied Forces built an underground settlement on the lichen ore veins. The power supply was indeed guaranteed, but the emergency passage was difficult to open, so they built a spiral emergency passage that bypassed the black steel stone to reach the Haiyun Tower, and the total length reached five miles."
After Chu Shi finished speaking, all his subordinates nodded repeatedly, as if they understood. Chu Shi then asked, "Then do you know why I am saying this now?"
The men looked at each other again.
"The tunnel is five miles long. When all of them entered, the underground settlement was already flooded. If the tunnel door cannot be closed, and the floodwaters from the settlement are allowed to flow in, what do you think will happen?"
