The two followed the water flow and soon reached the cave entrance. However, outside the cave was also a large enclosed circular space. Although there were water holes along the wall, the distance between the metal bars was so short that even a mouse could not get out.

There was only one escalator leading upwards by the wall. The zombies that were swept down by the water were crowded together on the escalator, trying desperately to climb up.

The zombies piled up one after another, stepping on each other's shoulders. Gunshots continued to ring out from above the escalator, and zombies were shot dead and fell down one by one, but other zombies stepped on their bodies and continued to climb up, not afraid of the bullets from above.

Feng Chen looked at the scene in front of him from the water, and for the first time, a feeling of despair arose in his heart.

The entire passage was flooded, and he and Yan Bubu had to get out. The only exit was in front of them. But the zombies were as crowded as a train station during rush hour, and it was impossible for them to pass through it unscathed and climb up the escalator.

impossible.

At this moment, there was a sudden explosion in the water, and the water flow backflowed at that instant. Feng Chen's ears were buzzing due to the loud noise.

Someone is throwing bombs into the water!

The zombies gathered in a group in front were blown apart, revealing the escalator in the middle. Feng Chen's heart skipped a beat, knowing that this was a rare opportunity, and he quickly kicked the water hard and rushed over with Yan Bubu.

He paddled with all his might, ignoring the zombies around him that had just been carried away by the current, hoping to grab the escalator before the zombies came up again.

The flood water around the escalator surged outward, creating layers of waves. But just when Feng Chen was about to reach the bottom of the escalator, the zombies had regrouped and swam towards this side.

Feng Chen stretched out his hand and was about to grab a section of the escalator in the water, but his ankle was dragged by the fastest zombie.

He turned back quickly and stabbed the zombie in the face with a dagger, which went through his eye socket and into his brain. But just as he dealt with this zombie, another one swam over from the left, opened its mouth wide at him in the water, revealing two rows of white fangs.

Feng Chen had to give up trying to grab the escalator and continued to stab with the knife. He stabbed it into the zombie's mouth and then pierced his upper jaw. He twisted it hard and pulled out the dagger.

Although the action of getting rid of the two zombies was clean and neat without any delay, dozens of seconds had already passed and the zombies that had been washed away by the waves had all rushed over.

There were zombies all around them, only a dozen meters away from them. Feng Chen could clearly see the dark blue capillaries on their faces, and from their wide-open mouths, he could see the uvula and inner walls of their mouths that had turned ink-black.

He glanced at Yan Bubu in the crook of his left arm.

Yan Bubu closed his eyes, his arms and legs drooped limply, and the curls on his head floated gently in the water. His skin was so white that it was almost transparent in the water, like a doll that had lost its voice.

He had been covered over his mouth and nose for too long and had fainted. But he remembered Feng Chen's order not to struggle, and even though he was suffocated and unconscious, he did not struggle from beginning to end.

Feng Chen had no way of grabbing the escalator. Moreover, even if he got on the escalator, the zombies would catch up with him and pull him back into the water and tear him into pieces.

There is no other way.

Feng Chen looked at Yan Bubu, suddenly loosened his hands that were covering his mouth and nose, hugged him tightly in his arms, curled up his body, arched his back, and buried his face in his hair.
