It's on the shelves again, as usual, I still have to talk about something. Although it is a repetitive thing to put on the shelves, but each time the works are different, there are still many differences in the impressions when they are put on the shelves.
I have been writing books for more than 13 years, most of which are about games.
"Into the End of the World" started in 2005; "Melee Mage of Online Games" started in 2008; "Full-time Master" started in 2011; and "The King's Moment" started in April this year. In the process, I also wrote two short stories, one is "Online Games: Jianghu Quest" serialized in the magazine, and the other has not yet been published, so I will keep a low profile and keep it secret, and I will not say it.
Leaving aside the two short stories, the four full-length novels have an interval of at least three years. I looked back and thought about it for myself, and found that most of these works were products that were in line with my state of mind at the time.
In 2005, I started writing "Crossing the World Alone". I didn't graduate from university, so I didn't have any formal thinking about life. Playing games in Internet cafes was my main pastime in college. So in my eyes, what the game has is the entertainment attribute, so the protagonist in that work has no ideals, no goals, no burdens, and even no real life, just experience the fun in the game, nothing more.
Then in 2008, when I wrote "Online Games Melee Mage", it has been three years since I graduated and entered the society. I have felt the pressure of survival, and I began to care about what I should rely on to live. Games are still a pastime, but when it comes to entertainment, I can't help but ask myself what is the use of playing games? This idea is once again reflected in the protagonist of this book. Gu Fei thought about "what is the use of kung fu", and finally kung fu can become a UG-like existence in the game. So naively, in this book, the game is endowed with functions other than entertainment. And I myself was also in the process of writing this book. From the state of pure entertainment like playing games before, I began to think seriously.
Then in 2011, when I wrote "Full-time Master", I was 28 that year, and there were still two years before the so-called thirty-year-old. I felt that I needed to have a clear direction and plan for the future, so Ye Xiu came into being. As a former e-sports professional player, games are his way out, ideals, talents, and achievements, and that is probably what I needed at that time. Once again, the protagonist of the game is realized through games.
After that is now, writing "The King's Moment". Before that, I had no idea of writing games anymore, because I couldn't find anything else I wanted to write. The confusion, confusion, and uncertainty I had when I was young are all in the past. Games have become something of entertainment again, and the way of entertainment at this time is very different from when I was 18: I am no longer interested in watching any in-game plots. I hate tasks or dungeons that take a certain amount of time to complete, and I have no patience to deal with players in the game. My favorite game function is to hang up...
It was at this time that a little friend beside me began to grow up day by day.
When I was playing Glory of Kings, she would look around curiously and ask who is this, who is that, and which are you? Is this a boy or a girl? why are you a little girl I don't think this one looks as good as the last one. how did you die How did you die again
From this point on, I can't help but think, what the game is to me, I can already master it myself. But when this little friend grows up, when she starts to get in touch with games, what will she think of games? How will she get along with the game? Did games have more functions and meanings than entertainment during her growing up
Later, when I attended a new book launch conference of my good friend Lin Hai Tingtao, I was very inspired when I heard him talk about the educational attributes of football. Because the educational attributes he mentioned are actually not endowed by football, but by fair sports and competitive activities. As long as it has this attribute, it will actually have the educational significance he said.
So for games, I think about it from a perspective that I haven't had before. Before I confirmed whether this should become a work, I would like to thank Tencent for providing me with the game of Glory of Kings as a blueprint. The real game is very conducive to the expression of my ideas this time, so there is "Moment of Kings".
This work will be more real than the previous games, not just because the games used are real games, but because what I focus on and want to tell about in this book are more personal things.
Taking a closer look at the game in a game is like a microcosm of life.
You were born in the spring, you began to develop and grow, and you began to face competition. Everyone scrambled for limited resources. Some people took the lead and became stronger and stronger, while some people missed frequently and were gradually left behind by others. How to stand firm in adversity? How to catch up in adversity? How much of it was on your own when you won the round? How many partners have achieved you? When the next challenge comes, how much experience and lessons have you learned from the previous challenge
All kinds of life seem to be reflected in this small game. Does the outcome of each game matter? It's important, because that's what you're working hard for in this round; but what's more important is how to face the next round after winning or losing this round.
Some people may say that exaggeration is not so important in a game. But this game, or any point in life, is influenced by each person's personality and emotions.
This is the direction I found for this book, and it is also what I want to write in this book: What can games bring us? What can we experience in the game
Feng Xiaoxiao is a pure game player.
Gu Fei used games as a stage to flex his muscles. (really flexing its muscles, literally)
Ye Xiu regards games as ideals and goals.
This time, what will He Yu and his partners regard the game as? What will the game bring them
I hope they and many friends who love games can find the answer.
Finally, I feel the support and love of readers for a long time. I don’t know how many people have read it since the first book. This is the sixth time it has been put on the shelves!
thank you all.
