The Lord of the Oasis

Chapter 698: Soldiers arriving at the starting point

Views:

It will take about half a month to go to the country of elves.

In order to ensure light travel, Kant did not allow the soldiers to carry much luggage.

Instead, they were ordered to carry out a second supply when passing through Durandal.

Twenty or so soldiers rode camels and walked into the gate of Durandal in a hurry.

The basic public facilities in the city have been built. After meeting the conditions of migrant workers and soldiers, there are still many residences available for the soldiers who come to live temporarily.

When DeWitt shared the news with his soldiers, they all cheered that they would not be camping outdoors tonight.

"Everyone's residence is arranged together. You must return to your residence at ten o'clock in the evening, and I will come to check the ward." DeWitt confessed.

"Yes!" replied the soldiers.

Led by local soldiers from Durandal, a group of people walked into the houses near the city center.

"One room for four people, the rooms on the third floor are all vacant for you." The soldier leading the way explained.

"Thank you," DeWitt thanked him.

"It's okay, there will be a dinner in the barracks to entertain you at night. Please be there before six o'clock." The soldier who led the way finally explained.

"Okay, excuse me." DeWitt bowed.

The soldier shook his head, took his leave and left.

DeWitt arranged for everyone to be assigned rooms, and waited until everyone was settled in their rooms.

Claremont greeted each door: "Everyone, change your clothes and get ready to go to the barracks. Durandal's garrison has sent a carriage to pick us up."

"Carriage?!" Two or three soldiers excitedly rushed to the corridor outside the door and exclaimed.

"I don't think I've ever been in a carriage," said a soldier.

"Okay, okay, you can sit down right away. Go back to your room and change your dusty clothes, and then wash your face." Claremont stopped the soldiers back to the door and urged them.

Because everyone is a soldier, they don't care much about their external attire.

Under Claremont's order, they just tidied up casually, and followed the captain downstairs.

"Hello." Sitting by the side of the carriage was Derrick who was sent to Durandal a few months ago. At this moment, he was clearly greeting the soldiers who walked out of the door.

"Commander Derrick?!" The two soldiers walking in the forefront exclaimed, and then hurriedly saluted.

Unexpectedly, Commander Derrick would come to pick them up in person.

"Commander Derrick!" DeWitt shouted loudly, and then led the soldiers behind him to line up in front of Derrick and stand neatly.

Derrick glanced at everyone, then chuckled and said, "Get in the car. The brothers in the military camp are still waiting for you."

DeWitt turned around and directed his soldiers to get on the carriage.

"Long time no see." Claremont stepped into the carriage where Derrick was, and stretched out his hand with red eyes.

The two of them were originally in the same queue, after Derrick was promoted to be the leader. Claremont also expressed that he wanted to continue to work under Derrick.

Derrick glanced at Claremont's hand, but didn't hold it back. Instead, he moved forward and hugged the comrade who hadn't seen him for many days.

"I heard that you are the vice-captain of your team?" Derrick patted Claremont's back with his hands, stopping the other party's sobs. After letting go, he asked Claremont with a smile.

"Yes." Claremont was still immersed in his emotions, and replied affirmatively to Derrick's question.

"Good job." Derrick still encouraged with a smile.

The groom began to drive the carriage forward.

Soldiers who tried their hand at riding a carriage for the first time. There was a lively discussion.

"It's quite comfortable to sit in this carriage." A soldier sighed.

"No wonder Captain Claremont asked us to change our clothes. If the satin gets dirty, we can't afford it." A soldier touched the comfortable cushion and said with emotion.

"Come on. Don't make it look like a bumpkin entering the city." A soldier said disgustedly.

"What's the matter with you, Austin?" A soldier asked the soldier beside him.

The soldier named Austin's face was slightly pale, and he was holding on to the window rail of the carriage. After hearing the question, he turned around and said uncomfortablely: "Why do I feel that riding in this carriage is more dizzy than riding a horse?"

"Huh? Why are you dizzy?" the soldier asked strangely.

"I can't, I feel like I'm going to throw up." Austin let go of his hands, and his upper body fell between his knees.

"Eh?! Wait, are you okay? Don't throw up, we are going to have dinner." The soldier said anxiously: "Hey! Someone here is going to throw up!"

The carriage drove to the gate of the barracks, and the soldiers got out of the carriage one by one.

Claremont and Derrick's carriage was the one in charge.

So the two got out of the carriage earlier than anyone else.

"Wow! Durandal's barracks is really magnificent." Claremont sighed after seeing the shape of the barracks.

"It's just been built. It looks relatively new." Derrick said with a smile.

"Come here! Someone here is not feeling well!"

Claremont heard the call from the soldiers behind him, and turned around urgently to lock his sight. Then he apologized to Derrick: "I'm sorry, it seems that one of our soldiers has something wrong."

After the voice fell, he rushed to the source of the voice.

When they got to the soldiers who were struggling to shout, they found that DeWitt had also hurried over.

"What's wrong?!" DeWitt asked anxiously.

The soldier pointed to Austin, who was collapsed by the carriage, and said, "He has been saying 'very dizzy' since he got in the carriage. He also vomited just now, and now he seems unable to walk."

"Who is this?" DeWitt asked confused. For the time being, he hasn't been able to match the names of all the fighters with their faces.

"Austinger, from the fourth team." Before the soldier could reply, Claremont took over and explained.

"Okay." DeWitt commanded: "Help this fainted soldier to the carriage to rest first. Prepare some water for him."

"Maybe the carriage isn't very ventilated, let's help it to the rest place in our barracks." Derrick came out from the crowd and suggested.

"Is it really convenient?" DeWitt asked hesitantly, still a little nervous facing Commander Derrick.

"It doesn't matter. And I arranged a carriage to pick you up on my own, and I really didn't care about everyone's habits. I really didn't think carefully." Derrick said slightly apologetically.

"It's nothing. Thank you, Commander Derrick." DeWitt said gratefully, dispelling Derrick's concerns.
