Fang Yun picked up a piece of chicken wing, put it in Nunu's bowl, and said, "Eat it."
Nunu immediately clasped his two little paws together to bow to Fang Yun to express his gratitude, and then started eating happily.
Fang Yun and the other three were amused by the polite little fox. Yang Yuhuan picked up another piece of meat and put it in Nunu's bowl.
Nunu immediately looked up at Yang Yuhuan warily, then looked at the piece of meat, sniffed it gently, and continued to eat the chicken wings Fang Yun gave it.
After eating Fang Yun’s chicken wings, Nunu licked her paws and mouth with her pink little tongue. She didn’t even look at the meat that Yang Yuhuan had picked up. She just tilted her head and looked at Fang Yun with cute and pitiful eyes, as if to say: Give me another piece, just one piece!
Fang Yun didn't expect Nu Nu to not eat the meat given by others, so he said: "You can eat that piece of meat without worry, and you must listen to her in the future."
Nunu lowered his head with a hint of reluctance and began to eat the meat that Yang Yuhuan gave him.
Fang Yun reached out and touched its head. Nunu rubbed Fang Yun's hand with its head, ate the meat in one bite, and showed a satisfied look, no longer dissatisfied.
Fang Yun was feeding Nunu while he was eating. After they finished eating, he realized that Nunu was not even as big as a chicken, but he had eaten a whole chicken and his little belly was bulging.
After dinner, Fang Yun put Nunu back into the bamboo basket. He took a short rest and continued writing "The West Chamber".
After writing for a while, Nunu suddenly started crying.
Fang Yun turned his head and saw Nunu pointing at Fang Yun's table with his little paws.
"Do you want to come up?" Fang Yun asked.
Nunu immediately nodded excitedly.
"Okay." Fang Yun picked it up and looked at its paws carefully. Its paws had pink pads, which were very cute, and there was not a trace of dirt or dust. But it had clearly been eating meat on the ground and had not washed its paws.
"A Juren is protected by his talent, and can 'keep mosquitoes away'. Only a 'Hanlin' can achieve 'no stain on the body'. Even if you don't bathe for decades, there will be no dirt on your body. Monsters may also have similar bodies that are not stained by dust, but their strength must at least be equal to that of a Hanlin. It is obviously a young fox, could it be that its status is extraordinary?"
Fang Yun thought to himself and put Nunu on the table.
Fang Yun suddenly asked: "Do you understand the language of our human race?"
Nunu reacted very quickly this time and shook his head firmly.
Fang Yun put his hand on his forehead: "You are so smart!"
Nunu immediately laughed happily, thinking that Fang Yun was really praising it.
Fang Yun smiled and continued writing "The West Chamber".
Nunu was lying on the table looking at the words on the paper. His eyes were dazed at first, but after sorting out the relationships between the characters for a while, he immediately became alert and looked at it intently, and his expression changed with Fang Yun's words.
When writing about Fang Zhiyun and Cui Yingying's love affair, Nunu had an obsessed expression on her face.
When it was written that Fang Zhiyun helped Cui Yingying resolve the crisis, Nunu was very happy.
When writing about Liu Zizheng's plan to harm Fang Zhiyun, Nunu suddenly shouted in anger and waved his claws at the three words "Liu Zizheng".
"What are you doing!" Fang Yun glared at Nunu.
Nunu looked at Fang Yun angrily, still immersed in the story.
Fang Yun patted its head gently and said, "Behave yourself, or I won't let you watch it anymore."
Nunu then realized that he had been too impulsive. He scratched his head with his little paws, smiled shyly, and showed an expression of admitting his mistake.
"I didn't expect that my first reader would be a fox." Fang Yun said with a smile.
Nunu shouted in dissatisfaction, as if asking what was wrong with the fox
After writing for two hours, Fang Yun felt tired, so he took some writing brushes, ink, paper and inkstone and left the east wing. He wanted to take advantage of the break to teach Yang Yuhuan how to read.
Nunu stayed obediently on the table. After Fang Yun left, it immediately excitedly started reading "Romance of the West Chamber" from the beginning, and from time to time it pricked its ears to listen to Fang Yun's movements.
Fang Yun placed his writing brush, ink, paper and inkstone on the table in the west wing, walked to the door of the main house, and saw Yang Yuhuan tidying up the yard.
"Sister Yuhuan, wash your hands and come in. I have something to tell you."
"Oh." Yang Yuhuan took the washbasin to wash her hands, then walked in front of Fang Yun.
"What's the matter?" Yang Yuhuan looked up at Fang Yun with her beautiful face.
Fang Yun took her hand and walked inside, saying, "I'm here to teach you how to read and write."
"Yes." Yang Yuhuan felt the warmth and firmness in Fang Yun's hand and agreed softly.
Fang Yun brought Yang Yuhuan to the west wing, spread out a piece of white paper, picked up a pen, but did not write immediately.
The only primers available at this time were "Hundred Family Names" and "Thousand Character Classic" as well as some materials compiled by local literary academies. There were no famous primers of later generations such as "Three Character Classic", "Family Instructions of Yan", "Enlarged Collection of Wise Sayings" and "Youxue Qionglin".
Fang Yun also remembered the content of his elementary education, which was completely rote memorization of "Thousand Character Classic" and "Hundred Family Names", which took a long time to memorize. "Thousand Character Classic" contains a thousand very basic characters, with neat parallelism and clear structure, which is very suitable for children to learn.
After Fang Yun finished learning "Thousand Character Classic" and "Hundred Family Names", he left elementary school and went directly to a private school to learn the classics of the saints. There was no transition in between, and he always found learning very difficult.
"Most of the children here learn Thousand Character Classic and Hundred Family Names and then directly start studying Analects. This is too much of a rush. They should learn Three Character Classic and Augmented Collection of Wise Sayings before studying the classics of the saints. But Sister Yuhuan can't read, so I'll start with Thousand Character Classic."
Fang Yun said: "Now I will teach you the contents of the Thousand Character Classic. Today I will teach you the most basic eight characters. In the future, there will be more characters. Please watch carefully."
Afterwards, Fang Yun wrote down the eight words at the beginning of "Thousand Character Classic" - "The sky and the earth are dark and yellow, the universe is vast and boundless" and then explained them to Yang Yuhuan one by one.
After Yang Yuhuan managed to remember it, he asked her to write slowly, and Fang Yun returned to the east wing.
After returning to the room, Fang Yun looked at the table. Nothing had changed, except that Nunu was smiling, as if trying to please him.
Fang Yun touched its head, and this time it was not reluctant but liked it very much.
Fang Yun continued to write "The West Chamber".
After finishing writing a page, Fang Yun was about to change the paper when Nunu suddenly called out, then stretched out his furry paw and placed it on Fang Yun's wrist.
"What's wrong?" Fang Yun asked Nunu.
Nunu couldn't speak. He pointed at the word "总" on the page with his paw and shouted, "Nunu! Nunu!" Seeing that Fang Yun didn't understand, he became a little anxious.
Fang Yun took a closer look at the word and suddenly realized that he had been in a hurry at the end and had missed a dot in the word "总", so he picked up the pen to add the dot.
"If there is a mistake in the word, Nunu will look back." Fang Yun smiled and quoted the allusion "If there is a mistake in the song, Zhou Lang will look back."
"Oh oh!" Nunu was extremely excited, and his big furry tail was sweeping back and forth behind him.
"You have to help me look carefully in the future. The ancients had red sleeves to accompany them in reading, and I have Nunu to accompany me in reading. This book has your contribution."
"Oh oh!" Nunu became even more excited, and jumped lightly, trying to jump onto Fang Yun's shoulder. Although it had gained strength after eating the meat, it still lacked strength. Fang Yun hurriedly stretched out his hand and placed it on his chest, and Nunu jumped into his arms.
Nunu rubbed her head against Fang Yun's chest happily, looking very happy.
After playing with Nunu for a while, Fang Yun patted its butt and said, "Okay, I'll continue writing my book." Then he put Nunu on the table.
Nunu's face turned slightly red with shame. She covered her eyes with her two little paws, lay on the table, and no longer looked at what Fang Yun was writing.
After Fang Yun wrote a dozen words, it shrugged its ears, secretly looked at Fang Yun, and found that he was normal. Then it slowly raised its head and continued reading "Romance of the West Chamber", only its furry tail shaking gently.
Three days passed in a flash, and Fang Yun finally completed the entire "Romance of the West Chamber".
When he finished writing the last stroke of "Romance of the West Chamber", Fang Yun felt something in his heart. He closed his eyes and recited the mantra.
There are two changes in Wen Palace.
There are already six stars in the Wen Palace starry sky above, one of which is much larger than the others, representing the national poem "Early Morning Journey in Ji County".
Six stars emitted a faint light, illuminating Fang Yun's statue. There was a wisp of silk-like talent on Fang Yun's statue, which was originally only three inches high, but now it was six inches high!
Once it reaches ten inches, after further polishing and worshipping in the holy temple, your talent will expand as small as a needle and you will become a scholar.
"Other people's talents can only be improved by worshipping the saints in the temple. I have these famous works nourished by the stars, and perhaps I can become a rare scholar in front of the saint. It is said that the scholar in front of the saint is the limit. Except for the students taught by Confucius himself, no one can become a scholar in front of the saint."
Fang Yun left the Wen Palace, quickly read "The West Chamber" silently, revised a few places, and finalized it.
Fang Yun discovered that the number of words in Romance of the West Chamber was far from comparable to the four great classics, but it was already a very long novel in that era. However, as a book, the number of pages was still a bit small.
So Fang Yun took up his pen and wrote a famous Tang Dynasty legendary novel, "The Pillow Book". This novel gave rise to an idiom that is more widely spread than the title of the book, namely, "The Yellow Millet Dream".
The Pillow Book tells the story of a poor scholar who met a half-saint who traveled the world in an inn. The half-saint saw that the scholar was talented but obsessed with official positions, so he gave him a treasure pillow. The scholar fell asleep after receiving the pillow, and at this moment, the kitchen of the inn had just started to steam yellow rice.
The scholar dreamed that he had a successful career, rising all the way to the top, and finally became a prime minister, enjoying all the glory and wealth, but he was framed by other senior officials for treason and was arrested by the king and imprisoned in the prison. A few years later, his injustice was vindicated, he became a high-ranking official again, and had many children and grandchildren, all of whom were promising.
Finally, he grew old and wanted to resign, but the king did not allow it. However, he saw through everything and wrote a memorial to resign. He died not long after.
Then the scholar woke up and found the half-saint still beside him. The steamed yellow rice in the inn was not yet cooked.
The scholar had a great enlightenment and no longer pursued fame, wealth and power. Instead, he focused on the holy way and eventually became a great scholar.
Fang Yun felt that "The Pillow Book" was more in line with the mainstream thinking of the Shengyuan Continent, so with a few minor changes it became a suitable short story.
Both novels were punctuated, divided into paragraphs, and had more pages, finally totaling more than one hundred and fifty pages.
It was already afternoon when he finished writing. Fang Yun took a nap and after dinner, he asked Fang Daniu to drive the car to Zhou Mansion.
The prefecture's academy of literature and the prefecture government were on the same level, and the highest officials were all third-rank officials. Although Zhou Zhubu was only sixth-rank, he was in charge of institutions such as the Wenhui Academy and had great power. He was also in charge of some affairs of the whole prefecture, and his power was no less than that of a fifth-rank prefect.
