In Benjamin's warehouse, Laura was chatting with Alice on the second floor, while Benjamin and Matthew were working below.
The previously collapsed warehouse would not be repaired automatically. The two of them were working on the reconstruction. It had basically been completed in the past few days, but the things before were piled up without any order. This time it was rebuilt anyway, so the two decided to do more. Make some shelves to sort out the groceries.
But with Laura here, Benjamin could only use normal human efficiency.
Zach leaned against the door frame on the second floor, watching Benjamin helplessly carry a bundle of shelf parts and walk to the warehouse. There was a running thump above his head. Zach looked up and saw that Laura's head had already stuck out from the second-floor window, following Benjamin, who was only wearing a vest.
Zach smiled and stood inside the door, hiding his body in the shadow, looking at Matthew who was still playing with tools.
"I'm making a ladder." Matthew thought Zach was watching him at work, so he honestly stretched out his hand and drew an outline in the air, "I want to add wheels underneath to make it easier to move."
"Very good, continue." Zach expressed encouragement, pulled up a chair and sat down, leaning on the hay and swaying leisurely.
Not long after, voices came from above. It seemed that Benjamin had entered the warehouse. Laura pulled Alice to continue chatting.
"By the way, do you still remember the newly married couple from the Quest family and me? Do you remember that we suddenly disappeared and came back again?"
"Yes." Alice responded a little absent-mindedly. She had been like this these past few days. Her mind was occupied by other things. Most of the morning was Laura's own. She responded twice with a dazed expression to show that she was listening.
Seeing Alice's lackluster look, Laura spoke faster, lowered her voice, and approached Alice mysteriously. The girl wanted to attract her friend's attention with content and exaggerated gestures, "Did you know that it wasn't even reported in the newspapers? Yes, but I know, guess what happened to them?"
"Yeah." Alice nodded, as if she agreed. Usually this trick works well, because most of the time Laura talks about how difficult a teacher is, how annoying a girl is, how childish a boy is... As long as the banshee agrees, Laura will be very happy.
"Alice!" Laura pressed the banshee's shoulders, "Are you listening?"
"Huh?" Alice looked up in confusion, looked at Laura's reproachful look, and lowered her head apologetically, "Oh, I'm sorry, I was distracted."
"What's wrong with you! It's been like this today!" Laura released her hand holding the other person's shoulder, "Did you read the original diary again?! I've already followed you, don't read it!"
As a friend, Laura is really a very rare girl.
She saw the sudden flash in Alice's eyes, which further confirmed this. She jumped up from Benjamin's bed and rushed towards the stairs.
"Laura! What are you doing?" Alice watched in surprise as her friend ran down the stairs.
"Is that diary in your room?!" Laura didn't look back, she held the turning handrail with one hand and continued running down, shouting loudly, "I'm going to throw it away!"
Alice stood up in a hurry and ran towards the stairs, "Laura, no, I didn't look! It was something else!"
Zach leaned against the haystack and watched Laura, who had already stepped down the stairs, holding on to the handrail. The long black dress prepared for the funeral was tightened by her legs spread apart. She turned her head with doubts and looked at the anxious people on the stairs. Alice came down, "Really? What is that?"
Laura is already very familiar with Alice's life. This girl who doesn't go out at all will not encounter a teacher with a 'butt' chin who forces her to hand in papers, nor will there be any jealous girls who inexplicably slander her, and even more No boys who think they are handsome will harass her!
The only thing Laura could think of was the diary that Alice had seen occasionally and that Alice was reading. It was said to be the diary of the 'owner of the family who adopted Alice'. Although Alice seemed relieved at the time, what high school life taught Laura was that the truth was the truth. That family abandoned Alice!
Alice walked down the stairs, pursed her lips, as if she didn't know how to explain. She saw Zach sitting next to him and looked at this 'brother' as if asking for help.
Zach sighed in his heart and waved to Alice, "Alice, I've been busy all morning and I'm hungry."
"Then I'm going to prepare lunch." Alice breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Laura, who was already glaring at Zach.
"I'll help." Laura glared at this 'Alice's other brother', then turned around and pulled Alice up and walked outside.
"No, no need." Alice let go of Laura's hand and persuaded her friend, "You better not go to the kitchen with the clothes you are wearing."
Laura looked down at her clothes, her head helpless. This is not her usual casual clothes, but a corresponding dress for various formal occasions. If anything gets on it, her grandmother will definitely be angry!
The girl glared at Zach again and could only let Alice leave.
"Laura." Zach smiled self-deprecatingly and waved to Mrs. Barton's granddaughter, "If you want to know why Alice is in a bad mood, you can ask me."
"I don't want it!" Laura glanced at Zach. Laura just wasn't interested in this pale guy. Although he was in line with most people's aesthetics, Laura didn't like this type by nature. Matthew, whose vest is now soaked and stuck to his body due to sweat, is much better than Zach in Laura's eyes!
Laura rolled her eyes and walked towards Matthew who was tinkering with a pile of parts, "She will tell me after thinking about it!"
Zach raised his eyebrows. The plan to exchange information was aborted. It seemed that he was thinking of other ways to find out the information that was not even reported in the newspapers.
"What are you doing?" Laura squatted next to Matthew, her mood had changed, and she looked curiously at the pile of things on the ground.
Matthew moved his body nervously. He was forced into a dead end by his idea, "I want to make a base for the ladder and install wheels, but I don't know how to make a shaft that can make the wheels rotate in all directions. "
"Oh." Laura looked at Matthew's clumsy gestures and was already distracted, but she still gave some advice, "Why do you have to make it yourself? Just buy one."
Matthew blinked and said blankly, "I didn't expect that."
Laura could be heard sighing. She stood up boredly and looked around in circles.
"Stop going around." Zach waved to Laura, "Come and chat!"
"What are you talking about!" Laura looked at Zach angrily.
Zach didn't intend to use any unusual means, and asked directly, "I just heard from you Quest, haven't they been found a long time ago, and the newspapers have reported it, isn't that true?"
"You eavesdropped on our conversation!" Laura glared at Zach. Everyone was so familiar with him. This girl no longer even had 'another brother', but replaced it with 'you' and 'hey'.
Zach pointed helplessly at his head. It was just a layer of wood. This was originally a warehouse. There were no closed rooms at all. The second floor was also completely open. You could see directly below from the upper floors. There was no eavesdropping at all. "Matthew heard it too, right Matthew."
"Yes." Matthew had temporarily put down the wheel and started working on the base. He responded when he heard his boss's words.
Zach shrugged, "You can't make us curious and then stop. Right, Matthew."
Matthew raised his head just in time to see Laura's staring eyes, but still, it was the boss Zach who spoke, and he lowered his head and responded again.
Laura rolled her eyes, "Forget it, it will definitely be in the newspaper in a few days anyway." Then she became depressed again. She pulled up a chair and sat next to it, watching Matthew playing with the parts, "They He’s about to be sent to a nursing home.”
"Sanitarium?" Zach raised his eyebrows, "Have they not recovered yet?"
"No, it sounds like grandma is very serious. Quest has signed a hospital admission agreement and will be sent there in the next few days. It seems that their servant was injured, and then..." Laura suddenly raised her voice, "Don't go out with these!"
"No." Zach said seriously, "Then what happened?"
Laura rolled her eyes at Zach, obviously because of Zach's gossip, her impression of him was reduced a bit. But Laura is also a girl who likes gossip, otherwise she wouldn’t do this to Alice!
"Then I was complained to the guild."
A guild is a type of free civil organization, usually composed of people in the same profession. Complaints from a guild have no legal significance. It just allows a professional to blacklist someone at the same time, so it is very important! We must give the guild an explanation as soon as possible, otherwise we will wait for a strike!
"Why were you injured?" Zach was not interested in this. He had the impression that Neil and Daphne were so tightly restrained that it was impossible to even touch anyone, let alone hitting them. Unless you need to stay awake, you must always be controlled by drugs.
"How do I know!" Laura tilted her head, "Listen, I was living well in the hospital, but for some reason, I was taken home by Quest."
Zach scratched his chin.
"But it was fine at first, and nothing happened. Quest received some guests the day before yesterday, and something suddenly happened." Laura shrugged.
Zach lowered his eyes and thought for a while, "Did Mrs. Barton tell you?"
Laura became embarrassed and hesitated, "No, I heard it when my grandmother was chatting with the nurse."
Zach pursed his lips, so the event was passed on by the guild in the middle. No matter how you look at it, this guild of servants is not a strict organization. Zach frowned, thought for a while, and then felt relieved. Old guys like Quinn and Barton are so well-informed, so that's it, so there's no need to worry.
