The Shadow of The Beginning

Chapter 1: wedge

It was a weak white ball of light, floating up and down in this pure white space seemingly aimlessly.

It muttered to itself in a strange language, and it was like a meteor falling from the universe, turning into a three-meter-tall figure that fell to the ground.

The lower part of its cone-shaped body has a chassis similar to that of a gastropod (Note 1), and its entire body is covered with scales-like armor. Tentacle-like limbs extend from the top of the cone.

Two of the limbs have claws at the end that can be used for grasping; the middle one has a small proto-sphere.

That was its head. Unlike any creature known to humans, it had three eyes but no eyelids. There were also four sensory organs on the top of its head that looked like stamens; at the end of another one were four trumpet-shaped red organs.

It moved its ventral feet and crawled forward feebly until it crawled into a breeding chamber and closed its eyes peacefully. As it entered, the breeding chamber closed its door and formed a special closed space.

The holes in the cabin sprayed some spore-like powder towards it, evenly wrapping its body and emitting a faint red light.

These lights flickered without rhythm, and gradually dimmed.

Its three-meter-tall body dissipated in the incubator, leaving behind only a ball of original spiritual power with colorful glow, which was absorbed by the pipes in the incubator and condensed into crystal-clear colorful light spots.

The light spots in the pipe were pulled by a suction force and distributed to the faint small light balls in the box below the incubator; those were the seeds representing the hope of the ethnic group.

Although they have not had time to pass on knowledge and wisdom, the little light groups have thrived with the passage of time. They will eventually discover the secrets of their ethnic group under their instincts, explore the functions of the pure white space they are in, and shoulder the mission of their ancestors and their ethnic group.

They are witnesses and forgetters; they are transcenders and escapers.

Their existence was once glorious, and they were also tragically destroyed. When destruction came, they still retained hope, and hope was being fed back to the next generation of life through their sacrifice.

It transforms itself into nutrients and provides them to future generations as the cornerstone of their growth.

This is a gamble with no regrets, which puts the past, present and future of the entire ethnic group at stake on the gambling table of fate.

Although it knows that its own meager strength is not enough to supply all the consumption of its offspring's development and may cause them to have defects, it still chooses to go all out.

This behavior has nothing to do with nobleness, greatness, or other lofty virtues, but is for the continuation of a species and the future. Even though it has seen a glimpse of a future full of disasters, it has no choice because it has lost its vitality. As a dying body, it can only choose to sacrifice itself or dissipate worthlessly in the universe and turn into stardust.

The spiritual power it incarnates nourishes the small light balls, but the remaining energy is not enough to cover all the small light balls. The precision instruments in the cultivation cabin also light up at the same time, actively excluding some light balls, so that the remaining small light balls can obtain the original power as much as possible.

The small light balls silently absorbed everything it left behind, and flickered regularly, as if they could sense the kind breath and bid it a final farewell. At the same time, it also left a message for the small light balls deep in their spirits.

Remember, children.

We are a great race.

We were conceived in pure white,

We were born in the light,

We become the light part,

We are the shadow that cannot be mentioned;

We seek the truth.

We excavated the ruins.

We explore mysteries.

We are shadows beyond time. (Note 2)
