The Shadow of The Beginning

Chapter 90: Corpses and bullying

Arnold sat in the corner, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.

Although the demon god Aini had no hostility towards him, he still gave him a strong sense of oppression, just like the pressure from Lucifer the Morning Star when he was exorcising the devil.

The oppressive force that comes with being in a superior position made Arnold sweat profusely. Although he had risen to the level of a tiger-level investigator, he was still powerless to resist the existence of these mysterious peaks.

Arnold felt powerless as if all his thoughts were seen through.

Jobtran led his team to explore the warehouse behind the battlefield; the food in the warehouse was scattered on the ground, emitting a mixed smell of several kinds of food.

The high temperature brought by the purple fire cooked some of the fruits and vegetables in the warehouse, and the air was filled with sweetness and the smell of burnt human-faced rats.

The two completely different smells made the team members feel a strange olfactory stimulation. They quickly covered their mouths and noses with handkerchiefs before going in to explore.

The purple fire remaining on the ground slowly went out after losing the combustible materials and Arnold's support, but the torches held by the team members still illuminated the space in the warehouse.

Under the light of the torch, the view inside the warehouse was clearly visible, and a skeleton with only white bones left was lying on a pile of rice bags.

There was blood and some hair left on the rice bag, and the skeleton was in a posture with its hands covering its head.

After a rough comparison of heights, Jobtran confirmed that the skeleton in front of him was Eisen.

It can be seen from the skeleton that Eisen's death was extremely painful. Every bone showed signs of being broken, and there was no trace of marrow in the bones or tendons on the bones. Even all the internal organs seemed to have disappeared out of thin air.

Judging from the skull alone, there were at least twenty bite marks on it, so Eisen's death was self-evident.

Upon seeing this, Jobtran clenched his fists, and he felt very guilty for letting Yudekao run away; if it had not been for his momentary negligence that allowed Yudekao to escape, this series of tragedies would not have happened.

Pippi, sensing Jobutran's mood changes, walked up to him and nudged the palm of Jobutran's hand with her head.

This is Pippi's way of comforting herself.

Jobtran felt the warmth from Pippi and rubbed its head gently.

Joe Butran pulled himself together and adjusted his emotions by taking deep breaths.

These days, Jobtran was in a panic because of dealing with a series of accidents. After he calmed down, he thought of one thing Pippi reminded him, that is, Yudekao might not have gone too far.

He hurried to Arnold, bowed to him, and asked,

"Master, I wonder if you are still free. There is a lunatic from the Yellow Group on the run. We may not be able to defeat him with our current strength. I hope you can help us."

Arnold nodded and said,

"I can help you with this, but you have to go back and report today's intelligence first. We also need to send someone to deal with the scene, otherwise it will be troublesome if we are discovered."

"Understood. We will also prepare a horse for you. I will send a few people to seal off the scene."

Joe Butron responded.

"Well, let your subordinates get busy first. I want to confirm something. You come with me."

After Arnold finished speaking, he straightened his crutches and used force to prop himself up.

After standing up, he stretched his muscles and there was a crackling sound in his body.

"Oh, I'm old. My health is not good. Let's go."

Jobtran winked at Tristenay and followed half a step behind Arnold.

They returned to their position in the main hall, and Arnold walked to the pulpit in the main hall.

The ground was littered with fragments of statues and wooden frames, which had not yet been dealt with.

Seeing that his mentor seemed to be exploring here, Jobtran took the initiative to go forward and clean up the scene.

Jobtran rolled up his sleeves and moved the broken pieces of the statue on the ground one by one.

Arnold was so amused that he hit Jobtran on the head with his cane and said,

"Won't you ask me what I'm looking for first?"

Joe Butran was stunned and put down the broken pieces in his hand.

"You are right. I acted on my own initiative."

Arnold smiled and remembered that Jobtran and Tristana were also so timid in front of him in the past.

"Job Tranc is a smart kid. He is suitable to be a detective in the future. He will be able to be independent when he grows up. However, Tristene is too weak. She is more suitable to be Job Tranc's assistant and handle some chores."

Arnold recalled the time when he took the two children out of the Arkham Orphanage.

By then, Arnold's injury had healed, but feeling that his own abilities were inadequate, he decided to travel around the world and broaden his horizons through traveling.

He walked through busy towns, through crowded auction houses, through uninhabited forests, and through snow-capped mountains;

He asked passers-by about local folk tales and culture, he went to the library to read various historical and mythological texts, and he explored the caves where ancient people lived.

After some experiences, Arnold realized that there are different cultures, different heritages, and different beliefs in the world.

Realizing that you are just an ordinary member of the vast living beings, and not the superior at the top of the pyramid, even if you have great abilities, you will be ruthlessly eliminated by the superior.

Arnold had the idea of passing on his knowledge.

"Maybe taking in an apprentice would be a good idea."

He then chose a nearby town to stay temporarily, which was the city of Umr.

When Arnold learned that there was an orphanage in the city of Umr, he went alone to choose his successor.

——

It was an autumn afternoon. The dead leaves on the trees had long since fallen. Apart from the evergreen plants, the two sides of the Arkham Welfare Home looked particularly deserted.

Tristene, who was only nine years old, was accidentally knocked to the ground by a boy who looked much taller and stronger than his peers. He looked at the boy in front of him who looked very ferocious.

He didn't quite understand what he had done wrong; he was just playing in the sand.

He didn't dare to look directly at the boy in front of him, because the nine-year-old boy's name was Angus.

Angus is an isolated person in an orphanage. He grew up in the orphanage since childhood, but when he was eight years old, his body grew rapidly as if he had taken hormones and he became a little giant.

Although some older children in the orphanage laughed at him and called him a freak and excluded him, he silently endured the ridicule and contempt from many people but did not refute anyone's accusations.

Angus stood in front of Tristana, who was about to cry, and stared at her face quietly.

Eleven-year-old Jobtran with bright silver-gray hair came running from not far away. When he saw Tristenay lying on the ground, he immediately put down the detective novel in his hand and ran over.

Jobtron stopped between Tristram and Aengus and spread his hands to both sides, trying to stop Aengus from hurting Tristram.

In Tristene's eyes, every time she was bullied, Jobtran would appear in time.

His back is the most important thing in Tristram's heart. It makes her feel at ease, just like a relative, but also with a hint of admiration. Jobtran, because of his sense of justice, can't bear to see the cowardly Tristram being bullied, so he always stands up.
