The Shadow of The Beginning

Chapter 98: Gluttony and flies

Views:

After the injection of sedatives, Marin fell into a long sleep, and when he woke up it was already early morning the next day.

If it weren't for the hunger, Marin would not have woken up so quickly.

When Marin opened his eyes, he heard his stomach growling.

"I'm so hungry."

Mariner wished he could drink two bowls of warm meat porridge right now.

Just as Marin was thinking about all kinds of delicious food, Dr. Rebecca came into the room with a bowl of egg custard.

"Hey, wake up. I guess you're hungry too. Come, eat something."

Dr. Rebecca first put the egg custard on the table, then helped the weak Marin up and scooped some egg custard for Marin to eat with a spoon.

Some dried shrimps are sprinkled on the egg custard, adding a bit of saltiness and fragrance to the monotonous egg custard.

The egg custard is just the right amount of warm. Once it enters your mouth, it turns into a liquid-like texture and slides down your throat. The soft and glutinous eggs and dried shrimps form a wonderful combination.

Mariner devoured the food ravenously.

After Dr. Rebecca fed all the egg custard to Marin, she said,

"Okay, make sure you eat well. You can go out when you have enough strength after lying down for a while."

After that, Dr. Rebecca left the medical room with the bowl.

After eating the egg custard, Mariner lay down on the bed to rest until he had enough strength and passed away.

Arkham Asylum has returned to peaceful days, but in fact there are undercurrents.

Every night Mariner dreams, and all kinds of strange scenes appear in his dreams.

His mental state was becoming increasingly decadent, and he had frighteningly heavy dark circles and bags under his eyes. If he appeared on the street with this appearance, he would probably be regarded as a hidden gentleman.

The biggest change in Marlin was his appetite. He was thinking about eating all the time, including during his daily classes.

Mariner seemed like a different person when he was eating. He could eat as much as four or five people, and his stomach was like a bottomless pit. The more he ate, the less his stomach swelled.

Apart from three meals a day, it seemed that only food could arouse Marin's interest, and he was in a decadent state at other times.

Due to eating a lot without corresponding consumption, Marin began to gain weight within a few days.

In just three days, Mariner's weight doubled.

On the third night, Mariner got out of bed because he was hungry. He had already eaten all the snacks he had saved.

He moved his sturdy calves with difficulty, walked down the stairs step by step, and came to the small warehouse behind the cafeteria.

The hunger in his stomach overwhelmed Marin's mind. He pushed open the door of the food warehouse and began to stuff all kinds of food into his mouth, whether it was vegetables or meat, as long as he could swallow it directly, he swallowed it without chewing.

After most of the food in the warehouse was consumed by Marin, Marin suddenly rolled his eyes and foamed at the mouth.

He began to feel a nauseous feeling instead of the hunger he had felt before.

He bent down unconsciously and vomited a large amount of food that he had not had time to digest.

The food fell unevenly on the ground, mixed with Marin's gastric juice and bile, emitting a disgusting stench.

Everyone in the welfare home was awakened by the stench, and just as they were pinching their noses and discussing where the smell came from, something strange happened.

"Buzz, buzz, buzz."

"Hey, where's that bee noise coming from?"

Angus felt something was wrong, as if there was a huge bell striking in his heart, reminding him that danger was approaching.

Angus put on his clothes and shoes and walked into the corridor.

He saw a scene that could make a person with trypophobia faint on the spot.

He saw a dark cloud outside the window, floating towards the Arkham Welfare Home at an incredible speed. Looking closely, he found that the cloud was changing its shape all the time.

Wherever the dark cloud passed, it was like being passed by locusts, and all vegetation and life were devoured.

Angus tried hard to open his eyes wide and observe the menacing dark cloud with the help of the faint moonlight.

That dark cloud was the source of the buzzing sound, a swarm of flies that would take months to count.

Angus realized that the source of the ominous feeling in his heart was this dark cloud, so he immediately ran in the opposite direction of the cloud.

He shouted loudly, "Run! You will die if you don't run!"

The fear of the unknown made Angus' stuttering problem healed at this time. After shouting this, he ran forward madly without looking back.

The flies swarmed towards Arkham Asylum like tigers smelling blood.

A swarm of flies smashed through the glass in Arkham Orphanage. The glass was completely unable to withstand the impact of the flies and shattered into pieces that fell to the ground.

Each fly has two compound eyes, and each compound eye contains more than four thousand tiny eyes, which can observe every movement present.

These flies were divided into groups just like an army. Through their keen observation, they separated some of their members and attacked the corresponding targets.

The emerald green compound eyes reflected a creepy light in the moonlight, like rust on a copper pipe.

They spread out from the condensed dark cloud and flew in the shape of arrows.

It was a rain of arrows of death.

Everyone in the welfare home realized the seriousness of the incident and began to flee the home in panic, but it was too late.

The skilled flies have arrived in the courtyard and have begun their feast.

The flight of an arrow means the birth of a skeleton.

They opened and closed their club-shaped mandibles wildly and gnawed at the fragile flesh with the pair of hooked lips at the end of their beaks.

It only takes a few seconds to take away a life.

Any resistance is futile. In the face of absolute numbers, even if one or two are hit by the wooden bat, it will be of no use.

Aunt Karma panicked and arranged for the children to leave the institution first, but it was in vain.

Some children who saw that things were not going well hid in places they thought were safe, such as under the bed, in the closet, etc., but the beating of their hearts and the air fluctuations caused by their breathing were sensed by the fine hairs on the flies, which then reflected their location.

Desperate howls and terrified cries were played in Arkham Asylum.

Angus didn't even dare to turn his head. He could even hear the buzzing sound getting closer and closer. He was afraid that if he turned around, he would see the image of hell on earth.

As the buzzing sound got closer, Angus almost gave up, but a fast-flowing river appeared in front of him just in time.

He took a deep breath and jumped into the stream, splashing a lot of water.

Even though this stream was not wide, it was about five meters deep; the turbid water made Angus unable to open his eyes, so he followed his intuition and dived to the bottom of the river.

Angus pinched his nose hard and closed his mouth tightly. The breath he took before entering the water was the key to saving his life.
