The Twilight Stalkers

Chapter 342: Destroy the corpse and eliminate all traces (2)

Views:

The three of us wanted to lift the car out of the pit and use it to walk back to Jishou, and take the bodies of the dead with us. Otherwise, if we walked, we didn't know when we could get back to the city. But the three of us used all our strength and still couldn't lift it out. The entire front of the car was stuck in a pit more than two meters deep. It seemed that the only way to get it out was to use a crane.

We had to abandon the van and return to the ravine below the Dead Body Inn at around 2pm. But we found that the inn had been burned down to ashes!

The stilt houses themselves are built with wood, because wood is the most abundant thing in the mountains. The houses in the villages in the mountains are all built with trees, so if they burn, there will be no trace left.

We climbed up the hill in astonishment and came to the ruins of the inn. Except for some iron nails used to reinforce the house, everything turned into black ash, including the dead bodies inside. Not even a bone was left. What happened? Who burned the inn? This fire was definitely not set before. It couldn't have started in the heavy rain. It didn't look like a fire, otherwise the whole forest would have been affected. Only this inn was burned down. It was obvious that someone had set the fire and destroyed the bodies!

Shen Bing had left her cell phone and communication equipment in the inn, and she didn't have time to get them when she fled the night before, so she couldn't contact the local police. Lu Fei and I also lost our cell phones somewhere during the pursuit, so even if we could find them, they might not work, and we didn't know if there was any signal in the deep mountains.

After searching for a long time in the ruins, I only found a round copper plate. After wiping it clean with paper, I saw that it was very old, covered with mottled copper rust. On the front was a pattern of a coiled and raised-headed small snake, and on the back was a line of strange symbols, which looked like both a sign and a text.

I thought the little snake might be related to the silver snake poison, and the characters behind it should be unique to the Miao people, right? I showed it to the two of them, but they couldn't figure out what it meant.

It was almost three o'clock, and we walked down the hillside in despair, looking at the winding and rugged ravine heading north. It was estimated that it would be difficult to reach the road after dark. I had not slept for two days and two nights, and had not eaten lunch. I was afraid that Shen Bing would not be able to hold on. I stood there and thought, since this place was completely destroyed, there were still two bodies outside the cave where Ma Yunxi lived. Maybe we could find some clues from them.

I decided to go back and take a look. First, I could have a good sleep in Ma Yunxi's cave and rest up. Second, she wouldn't have given me food, right? This way, I could track down clues to the body. It would kill three birds with one stone. Why not

When I made this suggestion, Shen Bing had no objection, but Lu Fei insisted on returning to Jishou. What he said was not without reason. If we continued to stay here without food and equipment, it would be tantamount to suicide if we encountered a demon like the jumping corpse. The yellow talisman in my bag was almost used up, and his bag had fallen on the way and could not be found. We were basically at the point where we had run out of food and ammunition.

Shen Bing was caught in the middle, watching the two of us holding our own opinions, and she was at a loss. I looked at her and said, "Do you remember what I said to you the night before? You can't leave my side." Shen Bing nodded, and it seemed that she was on my side.

Lu Fei snorted coldly and said, "Who are you to her? Why do you want to restrict her personal freedom?"

"He... he is my brother!" Shen Bing pointed at me and said first.

I was not happy after hearing this. Instead, I felt a sour taste in my heart. What do you mean by saying this to him? Are you going to tell him that we are brother and sister and our relationship is innocent, so that he can pursue you without worry? Damn, the more I think about it, the worse it tastes.

"Brother? He's not your real brother, why should you listen to him? When you came here, you promised Team Leader Long that you would follow my arrangements in everything. If I leave you alone and anything happens, I won't be able to explain to Team Leader Long. Let's go back to Jishou." This guy actually used force, grabbed Shen Bing's sleeve, and pulled her back.

I stood there motionless, thinking to myself, let's see what Shen Bing means. If she wants to go back with Lu Fei, why should I stop her? I might even bring shame upon myself.

Shen Bing looked back at me blankly, staggering along with Lu Fei. My heart sank. If it rains, let it rain. If my mother wants to get married, let her do it!
