In the cave below the Temple of Night, there are hidden walls and the passage leading to the closed butterfly tomb chamber. They are all in the innermost and secluded space of the cave. Therefore, Shade does not have to worry about being discovered by the ring warlocks arranged by the church before he enters the cemetery.
When he walked out from behind the hidden wall with the four gems, he found someone was already waiting for him in the dark corridor.
"Shad!"
The light ball floating around the 17-year-old girl illuminated her pretty face. Yin Luna seemed to have been waiting here for a while. She was very satisfied to see the surprised expression on Xia De's face:
"I came fast enough, didn't I? After receiving the message, I knew you must have new arrangements. After the earthquake, I applied to perform a mission outside the city, and then found an excuse to come here. Anyway, under the circumstances tonight, it is reasonable for anyone to suddenly disappear for a while."
"It's really fast, but there are a lot of strange things outside the city tonight. I think we still need to confirm each other's identities."
Shad suggested.
“That makes sense.”
Yin Luna said in a good mood:
"How about asking a question that only we know?"
"Hmm... what special materials were mixed into the pair of gloves you knitted yourself and gave me at the end of the year?"
"I gave you a scarf, not gloves, and it contained... my hair."
Yin Luna felt a little embarrassed, and then asked Xia De:
"What is the most beautiful part of our fortune-teller friend?"
"Those purple eyes, of course."
Xia De said without thinking, and then saw Yin Luna laughing. His originally nervous and slightly annoyed mood was slightly relieved by this little joke, so he waved to Yin Luna:
"Then let's go."
Green gemstones represent spring, red gemstones represent summer, golden gemstones represent autumn, and white gemstones represent winter.
The four seasons gems were inlaid by Shade one by one on the stone wall at the end of the passage that blocked the two people's progress. When the last gem entered its position, the four-color gems emitted soft light together. In the light, the stone wall fluctuated like an illusion, and then melted away bit by bit.
What appeared before Xia De and Yin Luna was a long and narrow tomb corridor leading deeper into the ground. This was the first time the cemetery had been opened since it was sealed after Mr. Leiman's death.
If they were ordinary people, they would still need to consider the oxygen problem underground, but Xia De and Yin Luna don’t need to worry so much.
"Let's go."
Xia De said to Yin Luna.
Although this is a veritable relic of the Fifth Epoch, Mr. Leiman's cemetery is not an underground building complex with an exaggerated area. After passing through the gate and officially entering the tomb corridor, I walked forward for more than 30 steps and arrived at the double-opening stone door at the end.
The two stone doors were all inscribed with Fifth Epoch characters, and were decorated with butterfly and flower patterns. Here was engraved the epitaph of Mr. Laiman, and Xia De had seen all of this in "Butterfly Family: My Life", but Yin Luna found something strange:
"This is not only the grave of Mr. Lyman, but also the graves of three butterfly girls?"
"That's right."
Xia De nodded, knowing what Yin Luna wanted to ask:
"Those butterfly girls are descendants of the old god Thousand-Eyed Illusion Butterfly. Logically, their lifespans should be much longer than that of Mr. Laiman, an ordinary man in the Fifth Era. And according to the description on the epitaph and what I read in that memoir, this cemetery was closed after Mr. Laiman's death, and they were buried here at the same time."
"Could it be that because of love, they voluntarily entered the cemetery to accompany Mr. Leiman's body?"
Yin Luna asked in disbelief, while Xia De shook his head:
"I don't know either, but I'll probably get the answer soon."
The gate with the epitaph engraved on it should be the real gate of the cemetery. But this door did not have a unique lock, and Shade pushed it open with a little force.
Behind the door, there were still steps going down, and the walls on both sides were no longer monotonous stone bricks. There were some abstract butterfly patterns painted here. Xia De and Yin Luna did not go down immediately. Xia De frowned and looked at the deeper darkness:
"There is an illusion. If we enter like this, we will probably fall into a passage that will never end."
"It's normal for a cemetery to have defensive measures."
Yin Luna commented, pulling out a piece of silver metal from her pocket:
"The church has a special method for breaking illusions. Let me try it first."
She activated the amulet with her own spirit and threw it forward. The metal piece landed on the steps leading down with a clang, and then emitted a bright light.
The light directly shone onto the murals on both sides of the wall. The abstract butterfly patterns, whose colors had been severely peeled off, actually began to move under the light of the talisman.
But Yin Luna didn't feel relieved, instead she became serious:
"It seems that the standard equipment is still not enough."
As they spoke, those strange-looking butterflies had already "flown" out from the mural. They did not attack the two people standing in front of the tomb door, but flapped their wings to completely block the dark passage.
Yin Luna still wanted to try, but Xia De stopped her:
"Let me try."
He took out the silver flute from his waist. It was a divinely created butterfly-calling flute, obtained from the cemetery of Saint Perry, a gift from the Fifth Era.
Xia De actually doesn't know how to play the flute, but at least he has no problem playing the flute. The effect of playing this flute is to summon butterflies according to the different spirits consumed, and finally even Helen and Grace can be summoned.
But when facing the butterfly illusion guarding the cemetery, when the flute sounded, the abstract butterflies returned to the wall. At the same time, in the deep corridor leading deeper into the ground, the air was strangely distorted. Xia De and Yin Luna heard a sound similar to a paper bag being punctured at the same time, and then the illusion was lifted.
"Since Sister St. Perry said that Mr. Lyman left a gift for me in his own grave, I don't think Mr. Lyman would deliberately embarrass me."
Shad said.
Continue down, after walking up 33 steps, the narrow corridor suddenly opens up. But this is not a tomb but a church. On the left and right of the church, there are holy emblems of the old god Thousand-Eyed Illusion Butterfly and the righteous god Lantern Old Man.
Even now in the Sixth Era, the locals of the Randall Valley have similar structures in their crypts, so Shade and Yin Luna just took a quick look and continued to walk deeper underground.
During this period, an earthquake occurred again, and the shaking of the earthquake was more felt underground than on the ground. Fortunately, this underground cemetery was extremely solid, and even though the earthquake was strong, there was no dust even on the ceiling above the cemetery corridor.
After passing the church in the cemetery, the main tomb chamber of the cemetery is connected to the back.
The main tomb chamber is also separated by a double-opening stone door, on which are carved portraits of Mr. Leiman himself and three girls with butterfly wings behind them.
After pushing open the door, there is a square tomb chamber with a huge stone coffin placed in the center. Judging from the size of the stone coffin, it is definitely not just one person buried inside.
Surprisingly, the tomb is not completely dark. There are brightly colored murals on the walls of the tomb. The murals depict various butterflies flying in the underground cavity from a bird's-eye view. Each butterfly in the mural is emitting a faint light. Although the light of a single butterfly is very weak, the combined light is enough to provide lighting.
There are the most butterflies in the center of the mural above the tomb chamber, and soft light shines on the sarcophagus from above. It is indeed a good choice to sleep here.
"We are so simple that we have come here?"
Yin Luna seemed to be worried about a trap and didn't dare to go in directly, but Xia De walked in directly:
"What do you think is here? Ancient evil spirits or gargoyles guarding it? This is just a cemetery. He is ready to welcome an old friend like me."
Xia De came to the huge sarcophagus. In front of the sarcophagus stood a stone tablet with the names of Mr. Leiman and the three butterfly girls written on it.
As for the sarcophagus, its style looked relatively simple, with butterfly-like patterns carved on all five sides.
Xia De did not disturb Mr. Laiman's sleep. He bent down to read the stone tablet in front of the sarcophagus, and then told Yin Luna, whose ancient language grades were not very good, what was written on it:
"The mystery has been solved. The three gods died together with Mr. Laiman."
"What's the meaning?"
Yin Luna asked in confusion, while Xia De wiped the dust off the surface of the stone tablet with his sleeve:
"Voluntarily following Mr. Leiman out of the worm cave is equivalent to giving up one's long life. This is a special contract, which you can understand as a love contract. From then on, the three old gods will bind their souls to Mr. Leiman's soul. When one party dies or changes their heart, this primitive, ancient and not very binding contract will cause both parties to die together."
Shade paused and added:
"The butterfly girls had the power to break free from the contract, but they didn't. It seems that the person who made this stone tablet was Mr. Lyman and the son of one of the ladies. He wrote down everything."
"Suicide for love?"
Yin Luna was slightly shocked, but also showed respect.
"It shouldn't be considered a love suicide, it can only be considered... After he died, they felt that they should leave. After all, they entered the normal material world just to accompany him. Now that Mr. Laiman is dead, they have no reason to stay."
“Is this love?”
The seventeen-year-old girl murmured to herself, while Shad, squatting in front of the stone tablet, thought about Stone Oxenfurt and Hela Oxenfurt.
