The Whispering Verses

Chapter 1719: Two souls in one body

Views:

Chloe Yin once held the card of Impermanence and Darkness, and ascended to the pinnacle of demigod with that card. Although Shade didn't know whether carrying that card helped her face the darkness in her heart, she also realized that this kind of card definitely has extraordinary power.

The witch with short brown hair looked at Shade and asked cautiously:

"I know you've always wanted this card, but I have a feeling that once I use it here, it won't belong to me anymore."

This means that this card may be consumed here.

Xia De shook his head indifferently. The Vientiane Impermanence Card obeyed the choice of fate, or perhaps the Vientiane Impermanence Card took the initiative to manipulate fate, so although he wanted it very much, he did not force it. If it should belong to him, it would appear sooner or later:

"It doesn't matter. I came here mainly to complete the story of the seven days. It's time to end this journey. Let's do it."

Thus, the Vientiane·Space was placed on the side of the five identity cards. As the cards emitted a faint light, everyone heard the dust-made figure sigh:

"A dual space, a broken relationship and a new bloodline. I see. You chose this fate for yourself and them, so take the initiative to welcome it. I hope that in the long and distant years to come, you will not regret your choice."

All the dust that made up its body fell to the ground, and at the same time, an inexplicable strong wind suddenly blew from the far distance of the Lost Forest. The wind was so strong that even Shade and Chloe Yin had to raise their arms and turn sideways to avoid it.

The bonfire flickered in the strong wind, and all the cards were flying in the wind. The strong smell of dampness and rot in the Lost Forest surrounded everyone with the wind, and even made people wonder whether this small camp would be completely destroyed in the wind.

Stranger, you feel your destiny.

Fortunately, when the storm subsided, the bonfire and the tent were still there. Shade held Mia and Chloe Yin's hands, and then heard the heart-wrenching voice of the witch Miss Andriana:

"Clara, no!"

Turning around, the maid in the black skirt had turned into a stone statue. Not only that, the stone statue began to turn into ash bit by bit from the top of its head, and then disappeared into the forest.

The long table was gone, and the original stone statue of Miss Lacus was also gone, leaving only the cards scattered on the ground. Shade only took a glance and knew that the Vientiane·Space was not among them. It must have left with the gust of wind just now.

"I lost both of them?"

At that moment, the spirit in the witch's body almost exploded. The despair made her soul unable to withstand such a powerful force. Fortunately, Chloe Yin was still here:

"Don't be so nervous, believe in the fairness of fate."

She patted the shoulder of the witch who was also from the Zaras Academy:

"Look over there."

Shade and the bard Mr. Enriquez also looked towards the edge of the camp.

The footsteps became clearer and clearer, until a girl with a face almost identical to the maid Clara, but wearing a dark blue dress instead of a black maid skirt, walked out from the foggy woods.

She almost rushed to Miss Andriana and hugged her, and the witch also hugged her while crying. This was the stone statue Miss Lacus from before, and she was indeed back.

"I don't understand, because using that special card doesn't require Miss Clara to pay a price? Where did she go?"

The bard asked in confusion. Shade stared at the newly appeared girl:

"It's not that there is no need to pay a price, but the price has become less. This Miss Lacus is not just Miss Lacus."

"What?"

The witch let go of her apprentice, and was shocked to discover what Shade had discovered:

"Lacus?"

"Yes, sir."

"Clara?"

"Yes, ma'am."

Both answers came from the same mouth, but with slightly different expressions.

"Two souls in one body?"

Chloe Yin asked Xia De, and Xia De nodded but did not make any comment.

This story is simple to explain. Because of jealousy, the twin sister forced her sister away, putting her sister in danger. Later, for various reasons, she wanted to redeem the tragedy she caused, but ended up being unable to separate from her sister.

Helen and Grace, Dorothy and Resia, Megan and Audrey, the stories of the "twin" sisters around him are different from the pair in front of him, but they are similar. Love and being loved, regret and reluctance, seeking but not getting and losing and regaining.

So Xia De didn't make any comments. This was someone else's story and he just needed to watch it.

The group returned to their respective cushions and sat in a circle, waiting for the end of the seven-day travel story. The sobbing girl hugged Miss Andriana's arm, and the short brown-haired witch had already understood the current situation of her beloved sister.

She seemed to be very accepting of this situation. Although the two of them became one, at least they were by her side:

"From now on, never leave me again."

Mr. Enriquez, who was already familiar with the witch, took the initiative to talk to her and gave his blessing. Chloe Yin was relieved about this ending. While Shade was happy that this ending was satisfactory, he knew in his heart that he would never accept this situation. He just wanted Dorothy and Leicia to always be two people.

"The Temple of Destiny on the top of the snowy mountain gave this journey a special meaning. The girl chosen by fate was finally reborn because of her love and regret, and the loyal dog who was deeply trapped in the sin of jealousy also got his own redemption."

The god smiled and summarized the trip on the afternoon of the seventh day, and seemed very satisfied with everyone's "performance".

Then, finally:

"Although the loyal dog left, a new loyal dog arrived. The five people in the tour group knew that their journey was about to end, but they still moved forward. Ahead, there was no valley surrounded by green grass and flowers, no garden with a gurgling stream flowing through, and no temple where gods and saints had rested. On the night of the seventh day, the environment was still harsh in the snowy mountains. You set up camp, formed a circle between the campfire and the tent, endured the severe cold, and welcomed the end of the journey with a somewhat shabby dinner."

She kindly asked everyone, for the first time in the story, asking everyone as God:

"Wouldn't you feel disappointed that your trip ended in such an unmemorable place?"

“It doesn’t matter where you travel.”

The witch who was snuggling with her apprentice and maid said, gently wiping the tears from the girl's eyes.

“The journey is what’s most important.”

The bard who recorded this story said that he had really changed a lot since before the story began.

"It's good to be over. Why should I care where it ends?"

Said the stranger from the distant future.

Then God said:

"The travelers at the dinner party noticed that a dusty traveler had joined them from afar. As the initiator of this journey and the narrator of this story, the traveler, sitting with his back to the campfire, asked everyone a question. Only by answering the question could they set off to return to their hometown."

Sure enough, at the end of the seven-day journey, it would not be so easy for them to leave the Lost Forest.

Xia De hugged Xiaomia tightly and sat upright. Everyone else also sat up straight and waited for the god's questions.

The question was somewhat unexpected, but upon closer thought it was just right:

“While the scenery during the trip is important, the companions are also important. The three travelers who have completed the seven-day trip, please each write down a wish you want to help your companion realize.”

She looked at the bard, Shade, and the witch in turn:

"If the wish is just right, and everyone gets a wish, then you can get out of here."

The top three cards of the pile floated towards three people respectively. The cards were blank, but as long as you think about it, you can leave pictures or words on them.

After this short yet long journey, the three people did not hesitate, and soon the three cards came into the hands of the god. She smiled as she looked at the wishes that the mortals made for each other, and then revealed them one by one:

“The wish of the traveler under the moon is that the parrot, after leaving the lost forest, can still get his manuscript and remember this wonderful journey in this way.”

The bard nodded slightly to Shad in thanks, and Shad made a wish for the bard instead of the witch because he felt the witch's wish had already come true.

"The parrot's wish is that the unicorn and her loyal dog will remember their devotion to each other."

Even the proud witch raised her head and expressed her gratitude to the bard. The reason why the bard made a wish for the witch was because he felt that this lady was the most pitiful among all people. The man who just hugged two cats was already happy enough.

"The unicorn's wish is that the traveler under the moon will one day be able to reunite with his lover at the other side of time."

Chloe Yin nodded to express his gratitude to Miss Andriana, and Shade also smiled. However, he didn't have much time left, and after a brief reunion, they would part, just like every time before. And he would always remember the strange adventure of this time key, just like in the past.

"Very well, you may leave now. Travelers, I hope you enjoy this little story by the campfire on this lost night. But if I really want to fulfill one of the three wishes, which one do you want me to fulfill?"

God asked a few more people.

"Please fulfill the parrot's wish, and I will take control of my own life."

The witch said.

"Please fulfill the parrot's wish. I believe I can meet them myself. I firmly believe this."

Shade also said this, and Chloe Yin had no doubts about the plural pronoun "they".

God looked at them:

“You may still not understand the meaning of travel, but at least this is indeed a good story. Confused people, the Lost Forest is the home for lost people. This journey allows everyone to find their direction, so you don’t belong here anymore.”
