Chapter 350: Scarlet Cult

“Teacher, teacher…”

Mr. Scott pointed at the painting that Shade had put back into the safe in shock. Professor Katya shook her head:

"Calm down, Scott. Do you think a folklorist's job is just to sit in an office and read documents? Calm down, oh, Scott, you're a good boy, calm down!"

"Teacher, have you ever seen something like this before?"

"I've seen scarier things. This is the first time I've brought you out to see the world. If you're still willing to learn from me, you'll encounter more things sooner or later."

The young scholar showed a horrified expression. Professor Katya was slightly disappointed and said to Shade:

"Sir, judging from your expression, you should not only be..."

"Yes."

Xia De took out the certificate and waved it in front of Professor Katya:

"MI6, we're tracking down a contraband shipment. I'm the leaked agent, and Miss Princess is... my supervisor."

There is nothing wrong with this statement.

Professor Katya was obviously a worldly-wise person. After taking a look at the certificate, he knew it was genuine:

"It looks like we're in real trouble this time. Mr. Agent, what else is in the safe?"

"Land deeds and property deeds. It seems that except for this house, most of the houses in this lane belong to Mr. Jude. There are also some jewelry, banknotes, and strange badges and seals."

The professor took the stone seal that Shade took out, looked at it, frowned and thought about it, and suddenly his eyes widened:

"Scarlet Cult!"

"What?"

Xia De asked in surprise. Mr. Scott, who was still in shock, was also puzzled. But Leicia thought about it and gave an explanation:

"The Scarlet Secret Cult is an ancient name. The official name today is a cult group that believes in the evil god, the Lord of the Scarlet Spiral."

"Teacher, is Mr. Jude a cultist?"

The young man looked even more panicked. He thought it was just an ordinary academic investigation and didn't expect to encounter such an exciting thing.

The professor was much calmer:

"Don't panic. As a folklorist, you have to deal with people like this. Oh, take a look at this book."

Professor Katya took the book from Shade's safe. The black cover of the book was titled "Mysteries of the Ocean". The whole book was as big as two ordinary pieces of letter paper put together and thicker than two ordinary red bricks.

"I didn't expect that I could see this! Now, I suspect that Mr. Jude is one of the organizers of the cult. Ladies and gentlemen, look at this, this book is a banned book. When I was young, I assisted the church in research and read the manuscript of this book. The Secret of the Ocean was the identity symbol of the leaders of the Scarlet Cult back then. It records some very terrible things in ancient language, which are even more terrible than that painting. Ordinary people may even go crazy after taking a look at it."

This statement is somewhat similar to those books that can carry spiritual runes. However, Shade did not ask for the book that the professor was holding, but took out more letters from the safe.

Most of the letters were written in the common language of Drarion, a few were written in the language of Kasenric, and a very small number were written in unknown strange characters. He picked up a few letters written in unknown languages and opened them. The characters in the shape of conch shells were obviously not the characters used by humans, but Shade understood them. After a few glances, he basically confirmed Professor Katya's opinion:

"We have to leave quickly. Judging from the content of the letter, this ancient alley is where the cult gathers. The people who disappeared nearby were all captured by them. Our luck is really bad this time. We may really be in big trouble."

He randomly grabbed a few letters and stuffed them into his pocket. The professor looked at the book in his hand with some reluctance, but the book was too big and he had to give it up with reluctance.

Shade and Lecia were not very interested in this book. Although it was possible to obtain spiritual runes by reading it, it was more likely to be contaminated by the knowledge of the evil god. Even Shade, who had the afterglow of divinity, did not dare to try such a thing.

So I could only leave the book behind and prepare to leave.

"Scott, get ready to smash the window."

The professor said, and together with Shade, he pointed his guns at the closed door. The young scholar, who was traumatized by the strange painting, reacted for a moment before picking up a stool and smashing it against the window.

Snap!

Mr. Scott tried his best, but the glass did not move at all. Instead, the chair in his hands broke with a loud noise.

Finally attracted by the abnormal sounds in the room, the people outside the door patted the professor on the shoulder, handed him his normal revolver, pushed Mr. Scott away, and punched the window.

Of course, Xia De didn't want to use his body to fight against the specially made hard glass. Before he swung his fist forward, the silver moonlight had already flown out.

At this moment, the door handle was turned from the outside, and then the door was pushed open—

Bang! Bang!

The professor calmly fired both guns at the outside. The butler who tried to break in was immediately hit by his bullets. After screaming, he staggered and fell to the floor.

While Mr. Scott's attention was drawn to the outside of the door, Lecia quickly walked to Shad's side, put her hand on the glass that had been cracked, and pushed it gently, and the entire piece of glass shattered into pieces.

“Go!”

Xia De shouted loudly, and more and more voices were heard in the dark corridor outside the door.

"You go first!"

The professor shouted, and even though he was holding the gun with both hands, he was able to nimbly use his thumb to press the firing pin of Shad's revolver.

The twitching male servant was clearly hit in the heart, but he was not dead and was struggling to stand up. His throat made a gurgling sound, which was actually a kind of language, he was calling for help. It seemed that the male servant was monitoring this place in the corridor just now, and he was the first to run over after discovering something was wrong.

"You go first!"

Shade said to the princess, and the red-haired girl jumped through the window into the heavy rain outside without any hesitation.

Bang bang bang~

The professor fired several shots, causing the twitching male servant on the ground to twitch even more violently. But he was still alive. Smoke was coming out of the bullet holes on his body, and his face seemed to be melting, changing in an ugly and terrifying direction:

"Mr. Scott, it's your turn! Jump!"

"But this is the second floor... I see."

The young scholar was frightened by the sudden scene before him, but seeing that the weak lady dared to jump off the building, he also jumped down with a shout.

"Professor, it's our turn!"

Shad pulled Professor Katya over, and the professor retreated while calmly shooting backwards, forcing the shadows in the corridor to not dare to enter the doorway.

The two came to the window, Shade threw down the frog leg, then pulled the professor over and jumped directly from the ground to the window sill. When he stepped lightly on the puddle on the road, there was not much splash under his feet.

He even had enough strength to support Professor Katya's back so that the professor could land safely.

This resulted in Professor Katya standing in the rain, looking at her legs in surprise, somewhat doubting why she was so good at martial arts today.

"Run this way! My people are one street away. We'll be safe once we get out of here!"

Lecia shouted in the rain. The rain was heavier than they thought. No matter whether it was shooting or bomb explosion, there was no way they could be heard beyond one street.
