Warhammer: The Worst Start There Is (40k)

Chapter 24: You are late

Views:

Guilliman is victorious wherever he goes, and no foe can stop him.

The majestic body of the Primarch is indestructible. He can easily destroy all hateful enemies and announce the arrival of the Empire by stepping on the enemy's skull.

The Armor of Destiny and the Iron Cross Halo blocked all enemy attacks for Guilliman. Even explosive bombs or malicious melta rays were blocked by the powerful force field.

Those terrible shocks and energies were either eliminated or diverted.

A plague warrior was ruthlessly killed by him, and his fat body seemed to burst, gushing out foul-smelling mucus and maggot-filled flesh.

After falling to the ground, there was a loud bang and a golden flame emerged.

The rotten and smelly blood burned on the battlefield. The golden light was so bright that even the filthy souls were completely purified by the Emperor's will.

Seeing the arrival and strength of the Primarch, the other Plague Warriors roared in anger. They tried to gather together and use numbers to defeat the Primarch.

The Honor Guard steadfastly guards the Primarch and never lets him fight alone.

Wearing Terminator armor, they formed a battle circle with Guilliman at the center.

If you want to besiege the Primarch, you must get past them.

This ruined the Plague Warriors' plan before it even began.

Every member of the Honor Guard is a veteran of the Ultramarines, possessing extremely rich war experience and wearing large and heavy Terminator armor.

It would undoubtedly be a pipe dream to want to break through their defenses and besiege Guilliman.

Even if they could barely break through the battle circle formed by the Honor Guard, the Plague Marines would suffer heavy casualties and be easily killed by Guilliman. The plan to suddenly attack and kill the Primarch would fail before it even began.

The traitors could only watch as the Primarch came upon them like a tiger among a flock of sheep, slaughtering their companions at will.

The cooperation between Guilliman and the Honor Guard was invincible. In front of them, the defense line that the Plague Marines had painstakingly built was as fragile as a piece of white paper.

Under their fierce attack, plague warriors continued to fall.

Under the pressure of the Primarch's might, the Plague Warriors' defenses continued to shrink and they were about to be completely annihilated.

At this time, Sicarius also rushed over from the outside of the ruins and became the last straw that broke the camel's back for the enemy.

He led his team to destroy the enemy's air defenses and long-range firepower, providing a safe place for the landing of war units such as the Astra Militarum, Titans, and Knights.

The addition of Sicarius and others caused the Plague Warriors to be defeated even faster.

It even turned into a one-sided massacre.

The Empire is steadily gaining victory, and Chaos' defeat is inevitable.

"Your time of death has come, traitor." Looking at a Plague Warrior who stood up from the trench and tried to stop the loyalists with a bolter, Sicarius' face was filled with anger. His voice came from under his helmet and echoed all around. He ran on the battlefield, rushing towards the Plague Warrior who kept shooting, and the power sword in his hand crackled.

The cultists along the way were all eliminated by his superb swordsmanship, and their bodies covered with curse runes were chopped into pieces by the power sword.

The plague warrior who tried to stop him missed and was hit on the leg by his sword instead.

With his thigh cut, the Plague Warrior lost his support and fell to his knees.

With his other hand, Sicarius held the grenade launcher against the enemy's helmet, and with a sentence, "Repent for your crimes," he blew up the enemy's head.

Looking around the battlefield, he soon found his next target. The opponent was shooting with a melta gun. The upper body of a loyal Space Marine was burned directly, leaving only half of the steaming body.

Sicarius ran again, wanting to avenge his dead comrade.

Soon, the plague warrior was also killed.

Sicarius did not stop but continued to fight.

The battlefield became a sword show for this brave warrior, and no enemy could escape from his superb swordsmanship.

His gaze was like the judgment of the god of death, and any rebel he targeted was immediately declared dead.

... ... ... ... ...

A Plague Warrior was slashed by Guilliman's sword, and his whole body turned into a golden torch, falling to the ground and wailing in pain.

It used its last bit of strength to beg for salvation from its loving father.

But in the face of the Emperor's will, even the Dark God has to retreat three feet, and his flesh and soul are destined to be burned.

"Sicarius, how are you doing?" Guilliman asked on the communication channel.

"All is going well, my lord. The traitors are being routed and victory is at hand," said Sicarius.

"Very good. Don't take it lightly. The traitor's ritual is very evil. Even I can feel the warp boiling. The endless malice is heartbreaking. Obviously, they are summoning something."

"Don't worry, sir." Sicarius shouted into the communicator, and after a moment he said, "I can see a tall tower made of piled corpses. The traitors are shrinking their defenses and trying to defend it."

"Kill them, every heretic must die, and destroy anything that looks abnormal." Guilliman's voice was very dull and full of power. "Let the air force formation give you some support, and smash their defenses with an iron fist."

... ... ... ... ... .

The Empire is coming from all directions, and they are unstoppable.

Gurlo, standing high on the ruins, could see everything clearly and knew that if he continued like this, he would lose.

The Empire was advancing much faster than it had anticipated.

"How long will the ceremony take?" Gurlo looked at his deputy and asked in a hoarse voice.

"Soon, the Warp has responded to us, but it still needs some time to prepare."

Gurlo turned his head to look at the battlefield, assessed it, and then shouted, "Release the plague bomb, let them have a taste of my power."

Following Gullo's voice, the demon engine covered with flesh and blood was pushed out by the Plague Warriors.

Some fat plague beasts were stuffed into the gun ports of the demon engine and thrown out.

These plague beasts were bred using the power of Father Nurgle and devoured countless terrible plagues.

If an ordinary person touches it, he will be immediately poisoned to death by the plague and transformed into a plague zombie within tens of seconds.

Bang, bang, bang!

Several bloated and fat plague beasts covered with tentacles and strange eyes were thrown into the sky above the loyalist troops, and then exploded, and the diseased filth fell from the sky into the imperial troops.

Many warriors failed to dodge in time, and the filth splashed on their armor caused the ceramic steel to bubble and hiss.

The Glory Guards wearing Terminator armor were not in too bad a situation, as the absolute thickness and protective force field of the Terminator armor protected them.

The loyalist warriors wearing standard power armor looked a little miserable. The armor structure was corroded by highly toxic bacteria, and electric sparks were emitting.

They staggered and some of them uttered sounds of pain.

Only Guilliman was unaffected.

The diseased filth was evaporated by the invisible force field before it even touched Guilliman.

This power is not simply the armor's own defense, but also contains a trace of mysterious power to protect him from the filth of the subspace.

"The seriously injured brothers retreat and receive treatment from the chapter priests, while the others seek cover. Let those guys bring the Titans over and crush these trash." Sicarius shouted and made temporary tactical arrangements.

... ... ... ... ... .

The Plague Warrior was just happy for blocking the Empire's advance, but the next second, his bloated and corrupt face became dull.

The earth was shaking. The Emperor-class Titans, known as the Wrath of God, were approaching from afar. These behemoths were the most terrifying weapons on the battlefield.

It has a giant plasma reactor built in to power artillery as big as a building. A single strike can destroy all lines of defense.

The Plague Marines were defeated in front of the Emperor-class Titan. A plasma beam several meters thick and emitting deadly high temperatures engulfed everything. Nothing could withstand such killing, even though the Plague Marines were once the Emperor's most outstanding work and had been blessed by the Dark God.

But in front of those destructive beams, they were still destroyed like ants.

Sicarius and his men advanced on the Emperor-class Titans and launched the final charge together with other Astra Militarum troops.

Guilliman was faster. Even without the support of the Titans, he easily broke through the enemy's lines with his own powerful strength and saw the tall tower made of flesh and blood.

The cultists surrounded the tower of flesh and blood, their faces filled with fanatical excitement.

"It is Entropy, the Great Father, praise Him."

"Woo, oh merciful Father."

"A wonderful life, wonderful."

... ... ... ... ...

Looking past the excited cultists who had completely fallen into Chaos, Guilliman's eyes fell on the leader of the rebellion on the Flesh Tower.

The other party wore a horned helmet and a set of Destroyer Centurion power armor that appeared in the 36th millennium, after the Age of Apostasy.

The rebellious Space Marines were not only those from ten thousand years ago. Some of them were oppressed by the Terra Council, corrupted by Chaos, or forced to rebel by the state religion during these ten thousand years.

Guilliman's eyes were filled with anger, and the golden flame rising from the Emperor's Sword in his hand became more and more intense.

Gurlo also looked down at the Primarch with a smug look in his eyes.

"You are too late, son of the Corpse King. This world belongs to Nurgle and to the loving father."
