Chapter 62: Emotions are a luxury

Boom! !

The entire earth was shaking slightly, and the radioactive sandstorm that covered the sky was still a hundred kilometers away.

Hawke in the trench felt the vibration and heard the terrible sound of the sandstorm moving.

Hawke had never seen such a huge sandstorm. It covered the sky and the earth like the end of the world. The most terrifying thing was that it was accompanied by lightning.

There was no such terrible sandstorm in his hometown. Only this alien planet, which also belonged to the human empire, had such a sandstorm.

This is Planet No. 2 in the Orbor Galaxy.

Planet No. 2 is an earth-like planet. The colonists of the Empire built a hive city on this planet to maintain normal production and life.

Unlike the hive cities on other worlds, the hive cities here extend downward.

The Orbor Galaxy is a binary star system. The strong stellar radiation bombards the four planets in the galaxy all the time, turning them into barren lands.

Hiding underground is undoubtedly a good idea.

The entrance to the hive city is a giant mountain. The colonists hollowed out the entire mountain to build an air port, and also built a large number of buildings to collect solar energy to provide energy for the hive city.

This structure makes the entire nest easy to defend and difficult to attack.

At least before Hawke and others arrived, the orcs had not been able to capture the hive city.

Hawke never expected that his first battle after joining the Astra Militarum would be against the orcs.

They have defeated the orcs several times in succession.

But those guys always come back again, and it will be difficult to end this war unless we wait until the space battle is over.

Hawke belonged to the 65th Natal Regiment, a new regiment.

The Primarch needs enough troops to defeat the enemy and defend the results of the reforms.

The old soldiers were disbanded and assigned to different units to train new recruits.

This ground battle was also Hawke's first battle.

The fear of death made his adrenaline surge, and even after the battle was over, he still found it difficult to calm down.

"Those greenskins are so disgusting." Castin said from the side.

Hawke glanced at Castin, who was also wrapped tightly.

The thick double-layer protective military uniform had completely concealed her beautiful figure. Her young, collagen-filled face was flushed, and it was obvious that she was suffocated.

The Emperor's cause demands the devotion of all men and women.

Castine was from the 68th Regiment, which was composed entirely of women.

Men and women are not mixed together in the Corps; they are separated. This allows for better management and avoids unhealthy practices.

"Is there any enemy of the Emperor that isn't disgusting?"

Hawke made a humorous remark.

Castine smiled, looking very pretty, like the little girl next door.

"It's over, let's go have a drink," Castin said.

"That's great, of course. There's no reason not to go for a drink when such a beautiful female soldier invites me to drink," Hawke said with a smile.

Just as Castin was about to say something, the shrill sound of sirens rang out.

A noisy sound came from a distance.

Accompanied by smoke and strong winds brought by the storm, orcs appeared before their eyes.

Those guys were driving chariots that had been modified to be extremely terrifying, shouting WAAAGH, WAAAGH.

“They’re coming,” the officer in black boots and holding a laser pistol shouted.

His voice echoed through the servoskulls across the front.

The sound of artillery fire rang out, and beams of light and shells burst out from behind the front line.

Medusa missiles, heavy cannons, and laser artillery were all firing, pouring out ammunition without restraint.

The rocky plain in front of the trench turned into a sea of fire. Many orc chariots were blown over in the explosion, and the orcs of all sizes on them were blown to pieces, with their limbs scattered all over the ground.

"These damn beasts, hahaha." Castin's voice came, and she also shouted, "All aliens deserve to die."

Castin's voice attracted the others to echo.

The soldiers' joy did not last long, as the orcs rushed out of the sea of fire, waving their weapons.

They also pulled out those strange-shaped cannons that looked like they were made of scrap copper and iron, and launched a counterattack on the human positions.

A shell exploded next to Hawke, raising a lot of dust, which then fell down under the pull of the planet's gravity, covering him with mud.

The loud explosion made his ears buzz.

"Stand up, aim, they are coming." The squadron leader's voice came.

Hawke stood up, picked up his laser gun, inserted the energy battery into it, and adjusted the output power as he had done in training.

The orcs were approaching, roaring with excitement.

"Open fire," the squadron leader roared.

Ruby-red beams of light shot out from the trenches, forming a densely packed red interwoven network.

Countless lasers shot at the orcs, causing them to cry out in pain.

Hawke aimed at each enemy, trying his best to make sure his shots would not miss.

Suddenly, a shocked voice was heard.

"By the Emperor, are these greenskins crazy?"

Hawke turned around and saw that it was another companion who was looking up into the sky.

He followed the other person's gaze, and shock soon appeared in his confused eyes.

The guy called Fart Spirit flew over with huge shells in his arms.

Many fart monsters were blown to death before they even hit the ground.

There were also some lucky ones who released the shells in time and fell into the trenches.

Hawke had to turn around and deal with these fart spirits first. They were not tall, but their attack power was not bad.

Wielding various sharp weapons, he madly chopped at everything he could see.

The appearance of the fart spirit caused chaos in the human defense line.

Taking advantage of the chaos, those powerful orc warriors quickly rushed across the line of fire, holding those large-caliber muskets and firing everywhere.

The defense line fell into chaos, the orc warriors were much more powerful than the fart monsters.

Castin's desperate cry was heard from the side, she hoped someone could help her.

Hawke wanted to turn his head to see what was happening, but he couldn't, he was also in danger.

An orc warrior was about to chop him into pieces with his battle axe.

"Your enemy is me, the alien."

A Primaris Space Marine dressed in blue and white rushed out from behind the defense line and slashed at the ork with the power sword in his hand. After being blocked by the ork, he seized the opportunity and kicked the ork to the ground.

Then, he swung the power sword in his hand and chopped off the opponent's head with one blow.

"For the Emperor, for the Lord of Ultramar." The warrior roared and rushed towards the other orcs.

More Primaris Space Marines joined the battlefield, assisting the Astra Militarum to hold the line.

Hawke got a chance to catch his breath and ran to where Castin was calling for help, but it was too late.

Castine lay in the trench, blood oozing from the wounds that tore through her body, staining her uniform, surrounded by the bodies of several orc boys and farts.

"No, Castin." Hawke shook his head, his eyes a little moist.

Castine is a considerate girl who can get along with anyone. She is sunny, positive, courageous, and full of infinite loyalty to the Emperor.

Eager to fight for the Emperor, the Lord of Ultramar, he died in the first battle.

They had just made an appointment to go out for a drink together.

Now, she has become a cold corpse.

"Hurry up and follow the Primaris Space Marines to launch a counterattack, soldier. Do not grieve for the dead. She has fulfilled her oath and mission."

Came the squadron leader's voice.
